Favorite Power Puff Girl Episodes
(This being a follow-up to the 'Favorite Dexter's Lab Eps' thread.)
My most-appreciated PPG episodes, in no particular order, are: 'Down and Dirty' (now we know what it takes to make Buttercup come clean) 'Bubblevicious' (new look for her!) 'Mr. Mojo Rising' (an Origin Story with a twist) 'Three Girls And A Monster' (laughed aloud at the resolution!) 'Power Prof' (aka 'When Lame Dialogue Attacks') 'Get Back Jojo' (loved those flashback revelations, and that minimalist-artwork sequence) 'Equal Fights' (the one with Femme Fatale; a lesson on the difference between feminism & demagoguery) 'Film Flam' (it tickles me to death to see the Prof in drag, plus there's a few on-target in-jokes) 'Criss Cross Crisis' (do I need to say more?) And, easily my favorite ep: 'Meet The Beat-Alls' (anybody who knows anything about the Beatle's history will understand why this one had me rolling on the floor for an extended period) Last edited by Sharklady; 06-01-2001 at 10:46 PM. |

A few more:
*The Rowdy Ruff Boys. Who would have ever known toilet water could be used as a subsitute for chemical X (maybe they served chili that night in Townsville Prison).
*The full half-hour short in which the Prof gets all worried about the girls' safety and builds them a fighting robot, which they use to battle a giant blowfish...and, ironically, trash the blazes out of Townsville as they save it. *Anything with Sedusa is great; it's a pity she's only appeared twice so far. *The short in which, ironically, Fuzzy Lumpkin, Him, and Mojo Jojo save the day, and not the Girls (and the Gangrene Gang learns that making prank phone calls is bad). *The short in which the PPGs somehow break the time-space continuum by pulling a Flash and find themselves in the future, where everyone they know is old and decrepit and Him is a god. *The short with the undead magician. He was cool and gross at the same time. How did Blossom get out of the iron maiden? Last edited by DR. BELCH; 05-23-2001 at 11:57 AM. |

Re: Favorite Power Puff Girl Episodes
I really like all the PPG episodes, but the first one that came to mind when I saw this question posted was the one where they were stranded inside on a rainy day. That episode made me laugh so hard, but I don't think it would be the best episode to introduce somebody to the series.
I also liked Dream Scheme....some cool animation in that one. Truly an unique episode in the series. Bubblevicious-I like the rough stuff too! There is something slightly suggestive with that plush Bubbles toy that says that phrase when you squeeze her, and the same thing with the Buttercup toy that says, "All the fun stuff happens at night!" Mime for a Change-I love that song they sing in there! There are many others, but those are the ones that stick out in my mind the most right now. |

Uh Oh Dynamo was one (I love the whole Mech thing, and you can even see Dexter.)
Rowdy Ruff Boys: Interesting resolution, and the fight scenes where very DBZ, (same with the first Princess ep.) The one with the imaginary freind. (Bubbles and that new kid had something going on with them.) Power Prof: LOL. Meet the Beatals: I wanna hold your cash. There are probably more, but I can't remember them. |

I've thought of another ep to ad to my favorites list: 'Slumbering With The Enemy.'
Actually, *any* ep which gives Mojo Jojo a lot of screen time is liable to be one I enjoy. The script-writers often give him great lines, and Roger L. Jackson does *such* a good job reading them.

My personal opinions for now, (in no particular order) ...
Bubblesvicious - prolly the all-time classic. The Powerpuff Girls Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever ... just goes to show what would happen if there were no crime/villians. So they really do appreciate what Mojo does all the time ... Los Dos Mojos ... yes, there really isn't enough room for 2 Mojo's ... Mr. Mojo's Rising ... he's not only the girls' enemy, he's also their brother and their father! Stray Bullet ... no spoilers ... it hasn't been aired yet. There are others ... these just came to mind first. BTW, re: the subject, "Powerpuff" - one word. -- Kane ... who is also whining about a lack of regular adult PPG shirts. |

It is? Then how come it's always abbreviated 'PPG'? (Actually I think I know. It's because 'PG' is a movie rating.) And yes, the 'Best Rainy Day Adventure' ep is certainly a good one. Prof playing Bubbles (because nobody else wants to, *sniff*), is another one of those images that manages to make me laugh no matter how many times I see it. At this rate, I'm gonna end up with a *really* long list. |

Un mas:
"Monkey See, Doggie Do" was a good one (the PPG's were simply adorable as puppies!)...though I never quite got why they recycled that footage and dialogue almost exactly in another short. That one is worthy to note only because Mojo, in the back of the dogcatcher's truck, gets a come-hither look from a male dog--implying he's about to get--ahem--dominated.
Of course I couldn't forget the highly suggestive and violent (one of the few times the Girls ever show Mojo pity!) "Candy is Dandy"...although the other short, "Catastrophe", was very forgettable. The monster was just a big green booger version of Elmyra...and why didn't his cat get hurt when the creature exploded all over Townsville like a weiner in a microwave? BTW, "Dream Scheme" wasn't the only one in which the Girls learn a lesson about stealing...there was also one with Bubbles and a set of golf clubs (a crime which she tried to pin on Mojo). The moral there is that even heroes aren't always perfect. |

Small correction: that was Blossom who swiped the golf clubs. And ended up getting sentenced to doing community service for it. You'd think the powers-that-be would've taken advantage of her ability to do something more useful for Townsville than trash pick-up. But, what can you expect from a city government with *that* for a mayor? "Heaven help us if anythin' should ever happen to yer dialing finger." Last edited by Sharklady; 06-01-2001 at 10:50 PM. |

OK, I'll bite. What item is that? (BTW: Does anybody else consider the PPG/Super Friends crossover the single funniest promo CN has ever aired?) |

Man, too many good eps. I just want to add a few more to the list:
"The Mane Event", "Paste Makes Waste", and "Bubblevision" each give great and funny moments to an individual girl. "Super Zeroes" offers us Liberty Belle, Harmony Bunny, and Mange, and why they're not very good. And I plunked down the money to see "Helter Shelter" early, and it is fantastic! Bubbles and a baby whale, haw haw! |

Stuck Up, Up, and Away- because I like that battle part of the episode, kind of a Dragonball Z like battle.
Power Lunch- Because the ending was so funny when the radioactive lunch that the Gangreen Gang had just went down the drain (number 2 ).Los Dos Mojos- Because It was so funny when Bubbles thinks she's Mojo Jojo, and the ending was funny that they saying Mojo Jojo's name a number of times, and it get on the Narrator's nerves. The Rowdyruff Boys- Because it was the best when Mojo Jojo created the Rowdyruff Boys with toilet water as a chemical X subsitute. (it kind of remind me of the battle between the Power Rangers and the Shadow Rangers)

I don't recognize the description, so I must've missed it. What went on in that promo? |

Power Puff Girls Week on CN
They've been running two-hour blocks during primetime, and i've been seeing a lot of my favorites. Unfortunately I missed Monday night's shows because It ran on Lifetime...but I watched Tuesday and Wednesday. Last night they ran another of my favorites, "Jewel of the Aisle", with their spot-on takeoffs of bad CGI shows and ridiculous cereal commercials ("Ridiculous Lucky Captain Rabbit King--Lucky Captain Rabbit King Nuggets are for the youth!") Plus it was three dodgy episodes practically back-to-back--the "Monkey See, Monkey Do" remake and "Candy is Dandy", as well as this exchange from "Hot-Air Buffoon":the Mayor, incensed at a cleaning woman's assertion that he's useless, tells Ms. Bellum that it's time to seize the helm. He makes a sort of side to side gesture in front of him with his hands as he says this. Bellum says, "Um...do you want me to step outside for that?"
Tonight is a treat--"Meat the Beat-Alls" will be shown, as well as "Equal Fights" and "Film Flam".

I just realized I haven't weighed in yet.
Bubblevicious, Down and Dirty, Mojo Rising, Los Dos Mojos... all excellent. Super Zeroes I just saw again tonight. The bizarre Japanese comic, and Mange's cool powers but utter uselessnes... "It's too bright, I'll sit this one out." Good stuff. And the rainy day adventure... oh my yes. As for ones that haven't been mentioned, I dig "Just Another Manic Mojo," in which we follow Mojo as he has a bad day. Just the way he draws out "curses".... hee hee. Also the one where the Amoeba boys, in their attempts to be decent villains, accidentally get everyone sick, yet insist on a fight with the PPG (who are sick as dogs) anyway... oh, that was a hoot. Helter Shelter and Power Lunch are both excellent, they're great excuses to rent the latest videos and DVD. (hint to people who haven't seen them) I wonder when they'll be put on TV rotation...

Oh, durn- I haven't seen either of those 'unmentioned' favorites of yours, Hatter.
I wish CN would rerun some of those older PPG eps, which for me will be new ones, since my cable provider only recently picked up CN. Ccccuuuurrrrsssseeeeessssss, indeed! |
