Hibernating bear cartoon...
Hello, all,
I am trying to find out the name of this cartoon and if I can buy/download from somewhere. It was an American cartoon about this hibernating bear that woke up after its hibernation to find out that a factory had been built around his cave. After some time of working in the factory, he tries to convince his supervisor that he is not supposed to be there since he is a bear. He has no luck convincing him and he has to go up the management ladder. Everybody turns him down with the statement: "You are not a bear! You are just a silly man with a fur who needs a shave!," or something like that. Also, the further up the ladder he goes, the more elaborate the secretaries' greetings get, the last one ending in an opera-like performance. It sound like a really wacky cartoon and it really is, but it is the best cartoon I have seen in a really long time. I would really appreciate any help you may provide. Many thanks!

"The Bear that Wasn't" by Chuck Jones for MGM. I don't think that it is available on video. Mmmmaybe a mod should move this to TTTP? It probably belongs there. Thanks

The Bear That Wasn't
The short was based on a book written by on-again-off-again former Warners director Frank Tashlin, an old friend of Jones'. It airs from time to time on Acme Hour, and I think once on Toonheads. If you're lucky you can catch it....

Go to Cartoonresearch.com and email the webmaster there. He's very knowlegeable, and has helped me track down obscure cartoons in the past. And he can tell you if it's on video and how to get it.
