CN's hidden Samurai Jack website

I heard about this today, it has some clips that you've probably seen if you've been keeping your eyes open, but also some wallpaper, screensavers, glimpses at model sheets and more. Check it out.

I am very interested in this Samurai Jack, all of the promotion CN has been doing has paid off. It should be interesting at least for the unique style. Also, they are supposed to be able to get away with extra violence since the characters are more stylized and less real.

I have to admit, CN has made a good advertising campaign for this one, I'm excited. The TV had it's it's volume turned down when I saw the first commercial, so I just watched the whole promo without sound and it looked pretty stunning. So is this going to be another Cartoon Cartoon (who started the term C-toons? CN likes using it), or something different and non-related? It's rare that I get excited over a new Cartoon Network program, some of the latest stuff has either been a little dull, or really ugly (IMO), but Gennedy Tartakovsky (sp?) always seems to do good stuff. Dexter's Lab is one of CN's best original shows. So I'll be looking forward to Samurai Jack and Justice League.

Well, supposedbly, Samurai Jack and Justice League will air back to back in primetime come November. I also don't like the Cartoon Cartoons name. Sounded like a rip-off of the Nicktoons name. I'd rather them call them Cartoon Network Original Series. Cartoon Cartoons sounds too kiddy.

Samurai Jack

BTW, Samurai Jack looks awesome! I can't wait for the SJ movie to air next Friday. Then, Aug. 25, Grim & Evil premieres. CN is definetly the place to be.

Looks, nothing - it IS awesome. I've watched it 4 times already - twice in San Diego and 2 more times from the video included with the SJ press packet that CN sent me. It's highly stylized - cinematic quality - but it's a bit slow in parts since they added some filler to make it a 1.5 hour movie premiere. But I think it'll make a great show in 30-minute increments - I really like it.

I would have had a review in for it already, but I've had a great deal of difficulty accessing TZ lately. And now the power's out at my house due to a sudden electrical storm that ravaged Memphis yesterday (I'm using a computer where my dad works to type this).

I hope to have the review sent in tomorrow, along with a few extra promo items I got from CN.

I don't believe SJ will be part of the Cartoon/Cartoon line-up, but I'll call my contact at CN tomorrow to see if I can get confirmation one way or another.

I finally got an answer for this and updated my SJ action figure news article accordingly:

Sorry, I don't know who originated the term "C-toons", but I think it would be safe to assume it was someone in the marketing/advert dept.
