I have yet to see Saber Marionette, really need to.

Rnama would be awesome, one of my alltime favs easily. The nudity can eaisly be worked around with bras and fog.

What do you mean by more anime on AS? Like they should expand AS Saturday or put anime on the sunday run or what?
They'll replace shows on Saturday eventually. But I think everythings all right for now.

Personally, bras would, in many cases, be stupid. After all, a lot of the nudity is Ranma boy-type (with either a ripped shirt/no shirt) gets splashed by water, and turns into Ranma girl-type, revealing breasts. What--is she gonna suddenly get a bra as well?

However, if Ranma always wore an undershirt, that never ever got ripped, then that would solve the problem.

Ok, I we just got to the segment where we discuss Ranma in my Pop Culture in Urban Japan class...

That show was Hilarious, and while I would love to see it on AS, I wouldn't want it edited. It's just so funny that editing it for standard... um... standards... wouldn't be right.

The comedic elements in the show are derrived from Physical comedy related to sexuality, and gender issues. To edit out the scenes where ramna (and to a lesser extent Akane) are nude would remove both the comedic elements, AND the deeper meanings behind the show.

Ranma is a unique combination of Shonen and Shojo which deserves to be run unedited... Where's that 24 Hr Action Cartoon Network when you need it... (I mean if they can run real nudity on E! at 2AM (I was flipping channels) Why can't Cartoon Network run innocent cartoon nudity? I mean, It's not like they're trying to show La Blue Girl... It's those Soccer moms isn't it?

<The Z-MAN hates soccer>

Curse them and their lazy overprotectiveness... Rather than censor what their children watch, they censor what is available to everyone... AAAAArrrrrrrrrrrgh...

I never thought of that,an undershirt would work,or just extend the shirt to hide the nipples.

And they can easily cover up the nudity in like bathroom scenes.Take the first episode. When Akane opens the door, simply make her towle bigger.I think ti'd be very simple to keep the comedy of Ranma.

Re: More Anime On Adult Swim

I agree with DJRed, there is enough good anime on AS, besides if they did put more anime I sure as hell hope they wouldn't put Saber Marreanet J and Ranma 1/2.

Princess Mononoke is a movie. Not a show.

Also, Matt Dosn't like us talking about Ramna 1/2.

The Berenstain Bears are anime!!??! I thought they were only books! I loved them books, but weren't they American books?

Also, I don't know about the anime, but those books were geared towards 5 year olds. Not exactly Adult Swim material.

Anyway, I want more ASC stuff! I'm not one of those really anti-editing people, but I would rather more ASC stuff I can't own, than edited anime I own on DVD and have seen 100 times.

I don't mind that it stays contained in this one thread.

Zmanjz, have you happen to catch what the rating was on that E! show?

Oh,and as far as editing goes, what is wrong with just bluring things out.

It does two things:

1.It covers up but still shows that it is still there
2.This is a way to get through some of the ratings red tape.

I agree. Blur it.

They blurred out b00Bies on Sealab, so why not an Adult Swim Action show?

No blur? Beats me. For some reason, stuff like digital black bars and digital blurs are against the editing anime law. I guess the network/distributor wants to trick your brain into thinking the show is airing uncensored. Of course this will only work on the people watching who aren't so much anime fans.

It's not used either on American shows that are aired in other countries. Yes. Believe it or not, American cartoons do get censored in some other countries. One example is Family Guy.

That's exactly what makes it not-very-hillarious.

I think Ranma 1/2 is one of the most overrated animes on the shelves. Yet, at the same time, Cartoon Network and Viz's friendship is growing stronger (first Zoids, and now Inu-Yasha).

I enjoy Inu-Yahsa, but i just hope they don't butcher it in the editing process. Make it Adult Swim so we can see it the way it was meant to be seen. Also, how about soem Vampire Hunter D, or possibly some good, TV-14 Anime movies?

Vampire Hunter D on AS

Yeah, they could show the Sci-Fi channel version of Vampire Hunter D and they could probably show Bloodlust without alotta editing.
