Clerks

Anyone else think that Clerks: The Animated Series would make a good addition to Adult Swim?

Buying the damn rights from aol time warner, not to mention the fact that theres only 6 episodes made for it=will never happen

Although I have to say it was the funnyest cartoon I saw in a LOONG time.

All of kevin smith's movies are the greatest, clerks is prob my favorite then dogma, but there all very funny.

Kevin Smith owns Clerks. Not ABC or Miramax. And certainly not AOLTW, what are you talking about?

Kevin Smith is looking for a home for Clerks season 2, which will begin production in fall 2003.. perhaps Adult Swim will be a viable home for it by then.

correct,KS owns it.that is how they could put out the DVD.The DVD has no copyright for AOL-TW,ABC,Disney,etc. but there is an agreement that ABC can't be oriented with the Clerks:TAS,an example would be on the DVD they mention ABC and it had to be bleeped out.Clerks is completely ASC airable, and a GREAT choice as well.

I loved the Outbreak episode where there in the pet shop

Randall: That monkey is reacting to us in sheer terror! (something like that)

Dante: No he's not he's masturbating

Randall: Yeah but its out of fear

Later on,

Leonardo: Oh my, someone must have scared the living daylights out of that monkey!

And Jay and Silent Bob teaching it how to smoke was hilarious.

I'm pretty sure Miramax owns the rights to the TV series AND the movie.
...if not that, then at least is in control of distribution.

KS bought it almost immediately after it aired. He bought it to release it on DVD and for the upcoming Clerks:TAS movie and for a possible sequel on another channel. It is in ownership of View askew.

Hmm...The case to the DVD set I have of Clerks: TAS (signed by Kevin Smith) has the Miramax logo and "© Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Inc." plastered all over it.
Actually...it doesn't mention View Askew at all. Weird.

God this would be a horrible addition to Adult Swim. I am a huge kevin smith fan. I loved clerks, mallrats, dogma...and so I almost bought the DVD until a friend of mine, a bigger Smith fan than myself, reccomended that I rent it first. God am I thankful that I did. The cartoon was awful, it wasn't funny, there was no story, and the dialogue that I love about Kevin Smith movies was nonexistent.

If Clerks does end up finding a home on ASC, I guess it wouldn't be too much of a big deal to me though, I'm an ASA fan, ASC is okay, I like space ghost, ATHF, and sealab...but thats about it.

That's odd. I love the cartoon and I hate all of Kevin Smith's movies.

You know why? The cartoon is for a completely different audience. That's why I'm afraid of the animated movie. I don't want them to change the style of the cartoon to match that of the movie, just because some moronic Kevin Smith fans ***** about it.

I don't own the DVD,just rented, but my friend said the logo's were nowhere to be seen.Oh well.Miramax is cool,Buena Vista is the bad one.But I know for a fact Smith bought the rights.

I only like 3 of Smith's films.Clerks,Chasing Amy,and Dogma.Mallrats is ok for a quick laugh but god allmighty was JSBSB ever the worst movie I ever saw.I like the cartoon a lot too.Clerks is onme of my alltime favorite movies, great plot developement, great dialogue, great everything.

Not very nice, but true. Kevin Smith is a slavemonkey to his fans. He wasn't always this way... but now he bends to their will at the drop of a hat.

It was funny though, when they aired a Clerks episode at Comic Con (#6), and before it aired, some kid asked the same question the Batman fan did in the episode. So he felt like a chump. Kevin Smith later said on the commentary, "If you're listening.. you WERE a chump."

Kevin Smith was never a Slave Monkey to his fans... In fact, Smith's artistic intergity is about all he really cares about. If Clerks makes a comeback, it will remain being different than the movies (thank god).

If the cartoon were anything like the movies, we'd be bored to all hell for the rest of eternity. When Smith or anyone else does something new, it should be new. I don't want to see Speed 2. There's a reason Episode 1, Episode 2, and any other additions to the Star Wars series are already stale. Be thankful that Clerks: TAS is different.

Clerks TAS is one of those shows that people either get the sense of humor and laugh their asses off. Or they don't get it at all. I think that any effort to bring back the show with new episodes is not only a good idea. It is a great idea. If they come out with new episodes it will be kind of like home movies, how it came out went away and came back on adult swim with new episodes. and if home movies has taught us anything it is that in that time it can be made into one of the greatest shows. The only difference is that instead of running for a season it ran for 2 episodes. but none the less I think Clerks TAS would make a great addition to AS even if it is years down the road. Just one more great show to maybe look forward to.

I can attest to that. Just look at my avatar and you'll know that I like Clerks: TAS

I will say this you either get Kevin Smith or you don't thats my view. I heavily enjoy the guys stuff from Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerk: TAS. They are as good as the Monty Python flicks but I am a fanboy of everything from comics, tv, movies, cartoons so the movies appeal to me a hell of alot more.
