Viper's Brief Review w/SPOILER (4/13/02)

...in case no one ever saw it. Sorry I took so long to post this, doing a roughdraft and all. Anyway, here it is...

SPEED BUGGY "GOLD FEVER"

After winning the South Seas auto race, and a solid gold trophy, a radio news bulletin says that half the world's gold shipments have been taken by space satellites. They don't believe it until they see one suck up a shipment from an armored car, and then take their trophy with Debbie holding on to it for dear life, to a volcanic island. When she gets there, we see who's behind all this: Gold Fever, an evil gold-stealing spy who's probably a 007 movie reject. Debbie's big mistake--telling him her friends will soon rescue her because he then gets his henchmen ready for them. Debbie:"Me and my big mouth!"
Funny moment: when Mark, Tinker, and Speedy scuba to the island, they notice a henchman go past them.
Mark:"Who was that?"
Tinker:"Well, it wasn't Flipper!"
They, of course get captured themselves, seems Big Brother GF was watching them, and sends them all by elevator to the basement. They escape by using Speedy's exhaust pipes for a steam smokescreen, Debbie hopes her hair isn't ruined for nothing LOL.
Next, Mark and Debbie spray paint themselves in gold to fool the guards and take off in an old monorail while Tinker and Speedy stumble into GF'S loot, where they find Speedy's missing trophy. Tinker's big mistake: putting it in Speedy's trunk--seems he forgot about the satellites. However, this works to their advantage--the others are captured but they rescue them by being "up in the air."
Now, the only way to freedom is by jumping off a 100-foot cliff, which Debbie "sweet-talks" scared Speedy into (Tinker says her words were more powerful then Mobil high octane fuel to Speedy). They manage to land in the island's lake but almost drown going over a waterfall--they eventually resuscitate their 4-wheeled friend back to health. Finally, they're able to capture GF when Speedy sneaks his remote, passes it to Mark, and use it to summon one of his own satellites to magnitize his gold suit--talk about "being attracted to gold".lol
Closing: now that the adventures over they all relax themselves while in the tropics. Speedy wins an even better trophy in a surfing contest while Mark and Tinker enjoy watching Debbie "shake a mean blade of grass" (she wears a grass skirt and a gorgeous bikini ).
Debbie:"Well, when in the islands, do as the islanders do."

So, tell me what you all think of this. I hope I didn't go into too much detail. I'd like to hear Belch's thoughts on this as well. This is one of my favorite cartoons of the '70's.

Admittedly I've never seen Speed Buggy--outside of his guest appearance in a Scooby movie and that trippy little cameo in a Johnny Bravo ep...but you have to admit, like her namesake, this girl has a certain style....
