G.I.Joe: Resolute Coming to DVD 11/3/09
This is the talkback thread for "G.I. Joe: Resolute" Coming to DVD.
According to tvshowsondvd.com, G.I.Joe Resolute will be coming to dvd on 11/3/09:http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/GI-...nnounced/12764. I enjoyed this version of G.I.Joe. I hope it airs on the dvd as a movie and not broken up like when it originally aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I remember they did at least once air it all together as a movie. When G.I.Joe: Resolute was run as a movie, the opening titles were cut but the labeled establishing shots were present, no matter how often they were repeated. Those made sense when they were shown as webisodes but became redundant and irritating in the movie format.
I'd expect the DVD release to at least have the chapters broken up as they were as webisode. It's possible they could further subdivide the chapters for specific scenes, but I wouldn't expect that much.

Just so I make sure I understand things, G.I. Joe: Resolute was originally shown as a series of separate webisodes, and was then put together as a whole "movie" when it aired on the Cartoon Network?

No, I'm pretty sure that Cartoon Network aired them separartely also. I'm not 100% sure though. I don't care for watching anything in small 5 minute chapters though. When Cartoon Network had Star Wars:Clone Wars Volume One and Star Wars:Clone Wars Volume 2, I only watched those as movies as well.

Cartoon Network never aired Resolute, Adult Swim did. They showed it in movie format all in one 90 minute movie.

K, so they did only air it as a movie? That's cool, I wasn't sure if they aired the minisodes or not. But what did you mean Cartoon Network never aired it, but Adult Swim did? Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, what's the difference?

Technically, Adult Swim is a separate network that borrows channel space from CN. They have different management structures, report to different people in the larger corporate structure, have separate upfronts for advertisers and the press, etc. It's more than just a programming block, but I think the distinction is largely academic, at least from a viewer's perspective.

Okay, so was G.I. Joe: Resolute shown in webisode segments first (whether on the internet or on Adult Swim), and then shown as a whole "movie" on Adult Swim later on?

No, only Season 1.2 and Resolute. There is no movie, never was, there is only some random terrorist action movie using the name GI Joe.

Eh, I'm totally not digging the Resolute cover art for some reason. It looks like they just cropped a lot of character art then photoshopped them together with some explosions in the background. Not really much effort and I was expecting something more dynamic in terms of art for this Joe venture.
Granted of course with what I saw of the GI Joe DVD and Blu-Ray art, they're the same with how they're tinkered, but despite that and all the artistic licenses the movie went with, it works... At least for me anyway. All I know is, is that I'm probably going to make two GI Joe purchases on 3 November.

I'm still mad there is no BR release of Resolute.

So, that leaves only G.I. Joe: Extreme and G.I. Joe: Sigma 6*as the only two shows not to be released on DVD?
*I don't count that "First Strike" movie.

Apologies for the double-post. My Toon Zone News review of this DVD is now up (just in time for Veteran's Day); discussion is on the General board.
