Toon Zone Talkback - "Toward The Terra" The 80's Strike Back

This is the talkback thread for "Toward The Terra" The 80's Strike Back.

Ah, a review for the movie! Well, I have Bandai's release of the recent television series, which was pretty damn good. Seems like the movie is different in a few ways but the fundamental story seems to be in place, so the review encourages me to be thorough and buy this.

It's always interesting to see how things change. A lot of characters look very different compared to how they were updated in the 2007 series, and I get the impression that some roles have slightly changed too. I'm guessing that Soldier Blue is less important here than in the series, but that's okay. I realize that when you have 2 hours to tell the story, you have to keep things moving.

I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson

FYI, RightStuf distrod the series as well.

Soldier Blue the 1st does show up for a moment to transfer his memories, but that's all he dos.

I'm thinking there's a mix as far as rights go. My DVD's have the Bandai logo and the Aniplex logo on em and Bandai is listed as the publisher on retailer websites, whereas every DVD has a trailer for Rightstuf/Nozomi's release of the movie.

Hunh, ok. I guess I just assumed they were since the trailer opens the TtT Movie disc. My bad.
