Fred Travalena, Shirt Tales' Bogey Orangutan, passes away at 66

Here's the link:

The oak tree in the downtown park will be lonelier without the man who voiced Bogey. Of course, Fred Travalena was more than just a voice-over artist, he was also an impressionist, an actor and a TV host, and as Bogey, himself, would put it, "He'll be missed, sweetheart!" He would be correct about that. Rest in Peace, Fred.

I'm showing my age here, but I remember an unsold pilot for a CBS prime time comedy/variety show that Fred Travelena did back in the 1970s. It was called The Funny World of Fred & Bunny, and it was produced by Hanna-Barbera studios (who did all of the animation for the pilot). It starred Fred Travelena (naturally doing several celebrity impersonations) and his co-host, a animated young woman with "cartoon magic" named Bunny. This was prior to Shirt Tales, which debuted in 1982, btw.

Unhappy

Both Bogey and Digger (the late Bob Ogle), residing in that great oak tree in the downtown park of The Great Beyond.

To absent friends...
