Mod Note: Discussion continued from The Official DC Animated DTV News & Speculation Thread, Part 4 (Spoilers).

The big question would be who'll voice Superman, Batman, and Lex Luthor? Not to mention if they'll use heroes like Captain Atom, Captain Marvel, Hawkman or Black Lightning?

Or....

What superheroes, will they have as much superheroes in the film version as there were in the comic version, or will they change around or add more while still keeping Hawkman and Captain Marvel?

For Batman and Superman's voices, I would want:
Superman - Adam Baldwin (his voice would just fit, when I was reading the book I thought he would be perfect.)
Batman Kevin Conroy (again his voice just fits, while reading his lines in the book I thought his voice was perfect too.)
I'm not sure who I would want as Lex, or any of the others yet,

D.

This film sounds good, but the guy who did the animation for Ben Ten will do the animation for this movie? I can't picture it.

That's cool, I'm interested how he'll do Batman and Superman. I like his Boondocks but Im not crazy for Alien Force's character designs.

Thanks for the link! As long as they are going to go with brand-new-continuity-for-every-project thing, I'm very glad to hear that they are trying to emulate other artist's work and make it really stand on its own, though I am not very familiar with Ed Mcginnis other than that he is known for drawing ridiculously huge muscles.

I thought New Frontier was a very pretty film, but it was still more Timm style than the book's drawings. And Doomsday just looked like DCAU. So far, I think only Gotham Knight has really distanced itself from the look of the DCAU in a stunning way, but I thought everything else fell totally flat. I suppose Wonder Woman differentiated itself pretty well, and it was by far the best of the DC Universe DTVs so far, in my opinion.

Interesting choice of words he used: "translating Ed MgGinnis' style"... This makes me happy.

That post by LeSean Thomas reveals that Sam Liu is the director of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Liu directed Hulk Vs. and seven episodes of The Batman. He also worked as a storyboard artist on The Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Superman: Doomsday, and Wonder Woman.

hopefully they'll include all the characters who were in the original story arc.. captain marvel, black lightning, captain atom, etc.

I wonder how much backstory will be shown as far as Luthor's rise to the presidency...

I knew they were going to go for a team up movie with Batman and Superman before doing Flash, Hawkman or any other heroes from DC. I wonder how closely the story will follow the comic book adaptation?

Jeph Loeb on Superman/Batman: Public Enemies:

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=20453

Neither he nor Ed McGuiness is working on the project, despite Bruce Timm asking them. They were too busy. Oh well!

Plus... if Loeb wants Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, then I think he should get them!!!

I know that Loeb isn't the only one clamoring for Conroy, etc to play Batman, etc, but if this movie is currently slated for a possible late 2009 release, haven't the voice actors most likely already been recorded?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we'll be hearing next to nothing about this DTV until "Green Lantern" streets. That's just the way these titles are handled--I'm frankly surprised we've heard this much about "Public Enemies" already. Which could be an indication of Warner releasing more information earlier, but I don't think we will see anything more for now.

I'm pretty excited for this. I read the original arc and the story didn't do much at all for me. I thought it was pretty all over the place, which is pretty standard for Loeb, but I think there's enough good ideas in there to be pieced together for a fun film.

Seeing McGuinness's style translated into animation should be pretty interesting. It must be a pretty daunting task for the art department, because he is easily one of the best draftsmen working in comics today. He's amazing at maintaining volume, weight, and power in his characters, and he's rock solid with perspective and shadow. He sets the quality level pretty high but seeing what was done adapting Darwyn Cooke's style, I think McGuinness' is in good hands as well.

I agree. I think we only got this info because the movies are coming out a bit more frequently, meaning we're getting info on movies slated for this year. In other words, it's possible we'll only see it early next year, but they're aiming for late this year, so we're getting a little info on it now. I figure we'll get a little tidbit for the movie following SBPE once Green Lantern is out.

All I can say about Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is this:

When you have the two greatest ICONS in comic book history joining forces to save Earth from a deadly meteor, and going to face a group of heroes, a horde of villians, and an evil president who has a grudge on both heroes. You're going to expect some serious fireworks!
