If they remaster it, I'll get it. If not, probably not. It would have to have a ton of new extras for me to buy it if it isn't remastered, since I have all the Rhino releases for it and G.I. Joe. I hope this means that G.I. Joe is not far behind. I still need the rest of Season 2.

I'm happy with the Rhino releases, so I'm not double dipping on ANY Transformers releases. The same goes for G.I. Joe until Season 2 is released.

I'm waiting to see if Jem get's a re-release because I need the second half of Season 3. And an uncut release of My Little Pony & Friends wouldn't hurt, either.

Hell. Yes. The original G1 Transformer was my ultimate guilty pleasure, but I missed out on my chance to get it's original DVD releases when they were out, unless I decided to pick up really expensive used sets. I'll probably try to get the whole series, but it's really season 3 that I want.

I'm probably going to get this I really wish BCI was still around they would have probably done the Hasbro license just like they did the Flimation one, releasing the big guns and then releasing the lesser know titles along with them.

I hope that we get some really excellent special features this time.

Hopefully the special features are as good as the TF:TM features.

I just hope they feature the episodes as broadcast, unlike Rhino's DVDs which featured error-filled 'first take' animation that was all originally corrected for broadcast back in 1984. Including the original soundtrack would be nice too, as those fake 5.1 mixes where they simply layered 30 new tracks of sound effects over the original sound were too annoying.

That should be fixed, both Universal(it's not the main Universal but one of it's spin offs) and Hasbro know that this is a big deal and probably want to make the most out of this release.

Yep. I can't see how they could screw this up, there's no excuse for this NOT to be better than Rhino's, even if there are no extras.

Finally I can complete my Transformers nostalgia collection~!

Since I've only seen the 1986 movie, I'm not too familiar with the original Transformers series. I'll probably rent this series from Netflix, when it's released.

A nice progressive transfer from the 16mm masters plus the original mono track is all I ask.

I already have a box set from China of the complete series, but if this one has some spectacular special features, I may consider double dipping (not to mention not having to navigate through a Chinese menu anymore).

I'll pass unless there is something that makes this stand out from Rhino's set.

If this has Special Features and/or remastering, I'll buy it in a New York minute.

Otherwise, I hop on Ebay and grab that Chinese boxset of the entire series for $70 .... well, when I can afford to. I've wanted to get G1 on DVD for years.

However, I hate that I have to wait so long for season 3 (my personal favorite) to come out. I don't have GI Joe or Jem either, so if they get released, I will be VERY happy.

So is the Rhino set, plus the Rhino set has 5.1 audio.

As mentioned, Rhino had issues with the remixes as well as the masters, so all of us are hoping that this release rectifies that!

I have the Rhino first season. And let me tell you, Rhino did a number on those episodes. Just from what I remember off the top of my head, there was a scene that was supposed to be Cliffjumper. And Rhino changed it to Bumblebee.

What's interesting is that before they started releasing the season sets. Rhino was releasing them 2 or 3 episodes at a time. The first season episodes that were released as "volumes" were correct. But they were then changed for the season sets.

It definitely looks like Shout! Factory is releasing it:

I wonder how Hasbro managed to get Shout! Factory the release considering their current deal with Paramount, or did that deal expire recently? That might explain why they released Energon finally.

Still, I have the individual season release from Rhino for season 1, so unless there's some major upgrades, I won't be getting this release.
