Beat me to it, since I'm usually the one who posts the first message about Anime Expo weekend. Still, I have to do my main post (with updates as to what gets announced).

Anyways, July 4th weekend has arrived again, and that means Anime Expo, the biggest anime convention in the United States. Usually, Anime Expo is one of the main places to hear news about upcoming anime titles, and this year is no exception. Among the highlights this year:

-Two eagerly anticipated titles, Gurren-Lagann and Ouran High School Host Club, will have their dub casts announced this weekend at the convention.
-Funimation (hot off the heels of their Heroic Age announcement) and Nozomi have guarenteed that they will announcing at least one new title at AX. What titles do they have their hands on?
-With the disasterous year that they had recently (which included a recent auction of office supplies and a number of titles coming out soon being "delayed indefinitely"), what does ADV have in store at this year's AX?
-Considering last year's announcements at Otakon making bigger waves than what was announced at AX, will AX make up for it and have one company make a huge announcement this year?

A partial list of the schedule is as follows (all times Pacific):

THURSDAY:

ADV Sneak Peek: 2:00
Aniplex Panel/Gurren-Lagann Cast Announcement: 4:00

FRIDAY:

Ouran High School Host Club Cast Announcement: 11:30
Viz: 12:00
Honneamise: 12:00
Dark Horse: 1:00
Nozomi: 3:00
ADV: 4:00
Bandai: 4:00

SATURDAY:

Tokyo-Pop: 10:00
Funimation: 3:30
Broccoli:3:30

I wouldn't expect anything new from ADV, but we'll see. Heck, Kanon volume 6 and their July 1 single releases are apparently "on indefinite hold," so at this point I'll just be happy to hear that they're alive and will finish what they've begun here.

Edit note: That last comment is struck since it actually appears that they're just shipping late due to replicator problems.

I really wish I didn't live 3000 miles away on the complete other side of the country. I just can't wait to hear the Gurren Lagann dub cast announcement.

And as for One Piece:

I hope some things will be answered/asked at the panels:

Viz:

- What new titles are coming to Toonami Jetstream(like Buso Renkin, and HunterxHunter)?

- Any news about Naruto Shippuden: like when its coming to Toonami, etc. Any questions about the Naruto movies airing on CN would be cool too.

- Will the Bleach movie air on Adult Swim?

Bandai:

- Any news about a TV broadcast for Gundam 00 would be cool. Also, any chance some of their older titles getting onto Sci-Fi Channel's Ani-Monday block.

FUNi:

- Anything about One Piece: How did the first boxset sell for them, any news about the show returning to Toonami/CN, etc.

- How did the first Shin-Chan volume sell for FUNi.

- Any chances of Claymore or D.Grayman getting TV deals.

I'd like Bandai to say that they've licensed Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei.

Also, I'd like it if Funi gave any news about GSG: IL Teatrino. Maybe one or two VA's?

Another thing that came to mind is asking the companies there about the Geneon titles. Particularly titles like Black Lagoon and Hellsing Ultimate.

Anyone who is going to the Viz panel, please ask them if they are going to license any new manga series.

That's kind of a pointless question.

Since at least midnight eastern on http://www.anime-expo.org/, it has said "AX08 has started!", and when you hover over that, it comes up with the "Official Countdown ANIME EXPO AX 2008", which says "Anime Expo 2008 has begun! Stop looking at this website!" But it wasn't even technically July 3 in California until now, so what time does it really begin?

If you want to querey about One Piece's TV deal situation you're going to have to talk to Toei about it. So PLEASE someone there talk to Toei about the future of One Piece on US television.

Mugen, Buso and Hunter seem out of reach for Jetstream. They seem to want to keep everything tamer than Naruto (probably because Pokemon gets the most streams out of all the shows on Jetstream). But Viz better have something fresh for Jetstream now that they've gotten rid of about a 3rd of it's content just recently. And I would count on the Bleach movie airing on AS. I mean... why would AS bother? It'd be nice to get a confirmation either way though.

Hopefully Bandai will tell us where Gundam 00 will be airing (and hopefully it's Toonami or at least somewhere on CN or on Sci-Fi).

Now would be a good time for some SGT Frog news. Hopefully it'll be good news. Like Bandai taking it away and airing it on CN level good news.

Something in reguards to Eyeshield 21's broadcast future would also be good to hear.

Other than that... some talk of Neuro (manga or anime or both), Gintama (anime), Yakitate Japan (anime) and/or Reborn (anime) getting licensed would be swell.

While those are good and all. It'd also be cool to see some news of the possible licenses;
  • Dragonaut ~The Resonance~
  • Real Drive
  • MAJOR
  • Eyeshield 21, for anime rescuing (my money is on FUNimation, seeing as Viz Media failed to market the anime version)
  • Shonen Jump: REBORN!
  • Over Drive
  • Ghost Hound
And more news of;
  • ATLUS' PERSONA -trinity soul-
  • Mobile Suit Gundam 00
  • D.Gray-man
