Major DC and TD schedule changes coming May 28 and 29

I'll post the full schedules tomorrow but the Cliff's Notes version is:

Toon Disney's hours per week: +2; Jetix: -2

TD weekday mornings (9:30 to noon) now:
930 -- House of Mouse
10 -- Goof Troop
1030 -- Little Mermaid
11 -- Aladdin
1130 -- Dave the Barbarian

There's going to be LOTS of Power Rangers in the Jetix weeknight schedule, including the earliest-ever expansion of the current PR series to 5-days-a-week.

8:00 -- PR Operation Overdrive (Mon-Fri)
9:00 -- PR Mystic Force (M-F)
10:00 -- PR S.P.D. (M-F)
11:00 -- PR Generations (no change)

But the BIG news -- and where TD gets some time back -- is on the weekends.

The weekend morning Jetix block will END AT 9:00 A.M., just like it does on weekdays. At 9:00, you get the weekend Big Movie Show, followed by hour-long blocks of:
11am -- Aladdin
Noon -- Mermaid
1pm -- Timon & Pumbaa
2pm -- Tarzan
3pm -- Emp. New School
4pm -- Lilo & Stitch

Jetix gets two of its hours back with a 5pm start on weekends instead of 7:00.

So long as they keep Pucca, I'm straight. I don't care how cutesy it is, that damn show cracks me up.

Yay! Looks like Goof Troop and Little Mermaid are returning to Toon Disney. Now all we need is Darkwing Duck and Ducktales.

Doing a major overhaul of the Toon Disney schedule was apparently not enough for our 'friends' in beatiful downtown Burbank. So, they did just as much damage to the Disney Channel schedule as well.

The DisChan schedule takes effect on May 28; TD on May 29.

Instead of posting all the info here in long-hand form, I've set up a pair of grids at my PROAC site that show the 24-hour schedules for both Disney Channel and Toon Disney.

It's not quite done, but all the pertinent information is there:

http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/prstuff/DCandTD.html

Like you, I'm wondering what that means to the Saturday premieres of Kim Possible and Jake Long. Certainly, we need more info.

When I get it, it'll be here.

The DC schedule is shocking! I didn't think they would start at 11AM with live-action shows on weekdays, but I guess since it's summer. I like the fact that BMW is back on "normal" times. So 'Mermaid' is gone from DC and now back 7 days a week on TD. Very interesting schedule. Hopefully, TD will get more classics this summer and not go to marathon-mode in July (like they always seem to do).

It's also interesting to see 'Cory' and 'Replacements' already on 7-day schedules. I mean each has less than 26 episodes. And same goes for PR 'Overdrive' on TD!

The Little Mermaid will still be on Disney Channel 7 days a week at 4:30 a.m., but it won't be on in the afternoon anymore. The same thing goes for Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, which will now be on at 2 a.m., Timon & Pumba at 2:30 a.m., and Lilo and Stitch for one full hour from 5 to 6 a.m.

Wow that's really odd looking with the Disney children's cartoons taking up the late night hours. You'd think they'd opt for sitcoms or something. Well whatever...

I'll enjoy watching Goof Troop maybe if I wake up early enough. (it's 3 hours ahead for me).

Boy Jetix sure feels dull. Same stuff, different day. At least weekends and weekdays do have differences but they're not really "good ones".

Maybe it'll be like last year on DC, with the rotating premieres on Saturday nights again. We won't get a new Kim Possible or Jake Long every week, but at least they'll be in primetime - which is better than the late afternoon premieres they're currently doing, as that's an inconvenient time for me and I've missed the last few episodes of each.

It is. Except for 30 minutes on Monday night, I have no urge or inclination to watch ANYthing on that channel on a regular basis. I'll watch when I look at the schedule and see a favorite episode or special.

They've been "rearranging the deck chairs" for quite a long time. They've added all of ONE new entity -- PROO -- in what, seven months? Unless you count Xyber 9, which isn't totally new but there were unaired episodes left over from when Fox Kids showed it.

And there's not much new stuff that's been locked down for the future. IIRC, they only confirmations we've had are for a second season of YYY and Digimon Data Squad.

And, the last two significant do-overs of the schedule have resulted in small decreases in the number of Jetix hours -- from 109 to 104 to the 102 that it will be after Memorial Day.

Considering I only tune in to Disney Channel for Kim Possible and Jake Long, that new DC schedule looks absolutely horrible for me.

Losing those Marvel shows almost seems like it caught them with their pants down. Oh well...

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I think they should seriously consider getting some of 4kids retired action shows and most notably since CN isn't doing anything with it they should definently get Ninja Turtles 2003 (not Fast Forward yet, leave that for later). And they could potentially premiere the lost season.

Also, they encore some premieres on Friday I guess but I really think they should move the premieres to Friday. You could say it's going up against CN a bit too much but really, it'd be action audience vs comedy audience so I think it would work out just fine. It's not Jetix has much to lose at this point.

A few years ago, Jetix was alright, when they were airing some of the Marvel Comics properties and Kong at a very decent time and when they lost the rights to air Marvel Comics programming, Dungeons & Dragons and Kong on ABC Family were the only shows that kept Jetix from dying in my eyes last year. Jetix became a complete abomination to me when they pitch D&D, Legend of the Dragon and Kong to the death slots, overplayed Digimon and Power Rangers and most likely became a dumping ground for acquisitions that both Kids WB and CN have scrapped in favor of their own crappy originals and if I ever wanted to watch Jetix at all, then I'll just stay up all night for Gargoyles, Silverwing(though it's probably a non-American production), Kong and Legend of the Dragon.

They should've just turned Toon Disney into a TV outlet that showcases Disney classics, old Fox Kids shows and other types of all-American children's programming instead of scrapping a great deal of classic shows from the TD line-up in favor of Jetix, a Miguzi rip-off Disney has altered Fox Kids into. He-Man would make a great addition on TD, since CN has scrapped it in favor of their own crappy originals, but TD focuses way too much on Digimon, Power Rangers, JCA, Pucca and Yin Yang Yo nowadays.

gah,why all the constant rerunning of suite life and hannah montana, why not rerun some of their older series like Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, Sister Sister, etc.

I don't understand why they can't put the classics back on TV late at night? Its not like they are releasing them on DVD.

Well, that lineup sure reeks. KP's only on one time Monday through Friday, yet almost all the other shows are on from 2-4 times a day?! I guess that settles it; what little viewership I had in Disney Channel is all but gone outside of Kim Possible premieres.
