Naruto Shipuuden Season 1 Talkback

The age of filler episodes has come to an end...with the introduction of the new Naruto series that is set after the Timeskip.

Unfortunately, roughly one-third of the actual content of the hour-long opening special was something that's pretty easily characterized as filler. Did we really need to see Konohamaru's team doing the exact same cat mission that Team 7 once did?

Other than that, I found the opening special to be enjoyable. Animation was good, the voice actors for Sai and Yamato don't annoy me, and the reunion was adorable with mini-Naruto and mini-Sakura appearing.

The new openings and closings were alright. I still hold Akeboshi as the best closing, though...

In their short teaser appearance in the beginning, Sai and Yamato didn't even speak, so how can you say they don't annoy you?

I'm fairly certain that will end up being footage from movie 4 also. What that means for that arc in the anime is unclear.

Curse you, I was going to make the Shippuden topic.

Anyway, havn't seen the episodes yet, but I have seen the opening. It's... ok. A bit to rapish for me, but I never judge an intro untill I hear the full version.

Edit (after I seen it):

Ah, the whole show's been remastered. I love the Akatsuki theam that plays when
Spoiler:
Deidara & Sasori
start heading into the village. Once the current arc in the manga is over, I'll propbably return to being anime-faithful.

Anyway, I've only seen the opening, ending, and the precredits teaser, and it looks pretty good so far. For the opening, my favorite part was definately the shot of the Akatsuki, and my least favorite was when it sounded like the Cookie Monster was rapping. The ending is also pretty cute.

Huge WTF at the teaser, though. There are some pretty major things spoiled in it. I guess they included it to prove that they wouldn't go into fillers before then, or something, or to satisfy the absurdly large number of Sasuke fangirls in Japan.

Shouldn't this be called the "Naruto Shipuuden TV Series Talkback?" Unless Japanese television has adopted American television rules, I don't think they have seasons.

They don't have breaks between groups of new episodes.. but they still have "seasons" (the japanese name is evading me), which are basically 24-26 episodes, which is why most series are ~13/26/50 episodes in length.

In Japan, they are called cours, and basically anywhere around 13 eps is one cours, 26 eps would be 2 and there are are a total of 4 a year. Cours comes from the French word for "course".

it was weird how they started out with Naruto and Sakura seeing Sasuke .. but gave us a little hint about his abilities (faster and he can talk to the fox)

Deidara was pretty much how you see in pictures and stuff (looked like he was feeding his hand ...), but Sasori, at least with the Akatsuki clothing, looks like a hunchback

Next week it's back to basics (or rather bells)

Well, I have not been following the anime series besides the English dub on Toonami, but I have been following the translations of the manga. I think now is as good a time as ever to start watching the Japanese episodes.

Anyway, getting back on topic. I've now also seen the ending, and I enjoy it personally. There hasn't been a decent Naruto ending in some time, I'll go as far to say this is the best. I'll also agree with the rest of the Naruto fanbase, that the part with Akatsuki is really cool. Reminds me of the 5th opening with the sound 5. Still waiting for those subs...

Loved the whole bit at the beginning. Hints of what's to come.

I finally get to see Deidara in motion. Sweet!

I'm glad it only took me a month to watch the episodes all the way from "Meeting Itachi" to "Sasuke vs. Naruto"

So looking at how these fit in, two episodes=a chapter and a half (not necessarily in order it would seem)

It also makes me wonder how long VIZ will go before licensing this. How great would it be for them to air like this in regular time (once filler is about to start) and maybe air the filler in the half hour after Miguzi (or just sometime later than showing this). It would make everyone happy right? No skipping of episodes to watch and more importantly, no waiting!!!

Yeah I don't really see that happening though.

1. Making a dub may be easier then making the actual show but it does take awhile to finish each episode faithfully and have ready to air on American TV. Not to mention Viz is still working on other shows (like Bleach and Zatch Bell) and can't focus all of they're efforts into Naruto. Even if they wanted to or thought it would be for the best there's no way they would try and dub the filler episodes as well as Naruto Shipuuden at the same time. When they don't need to make that extra impossible effort.

2. By the time Naruto catches up to the end of part one of the manga in dubbing, there isn't going to be a Miguzi. There's only going to be Master Control which I predict won't even have anime on it. So there's pretty much no chance of anything new anime wise coming on weekdays for awhile (you might get the occasional strip of repeats of a Toonami show or Yu-Gi-OH GX or something but that's it) much less New Naruto...

3. Since I doubt Toonami's going to want to move premieres of the Naruto fillers out of the block. Let's just say that they could air Naruto Filler and Naruto Shippuden at the same time and there was a slot to do it in? Do you really think they would? I don't. Toonami (well technically William Street) knows kids are going to eat up Naruto no matter what they show and don't want to move any of the show outside of Toonami. Besides like I keep saying, you guys may dislike the filler but I doubt the 2-11, 6-11 or even 9-14 will care all too much. It's going to air on Toonami on a weekly basis. We can hope that they'll have a bunch of two new eps a week of the filler but that's the most I would from that.

The best Naruto opening since Seishun Kyousokyoku. I totally loved it.

The episode itself...All I can say is "Welcome back." That got me so excited for Hurricane Chronicles, and I'm digging the music this time around. It sounds so epic. The track used when the two Akatsuki members waltzed in with the chorus was intense. I hope to hear more like this.

yeah I know, I was just thinking of a "in a perfect world" type scenario. They may try to run through the filler with a few 3-4 episode "marathons" and they'll finish airing "Naruto" in numerical order to keep people from getting confused by watching Younger Naruto in one time and then Older Naruto at a later time.
I'm just really hoping that VIZ gets this as soon as possible so another company doesn't want some of the Naruto success and takes it and messes things up in a "bad dub" sort of way.

They just outdone Bleach, y'all

That was some nice OAV animation right there with Sasuke (Although the whole sequence reminded me too much of Naruto: Reflection ).

And I wish Bleach would've used more of that kind of creativity with the new arc (y'know instead of reminding us that we just came out of the filler arc all the time, give us stuff that we WANT to see).

They needed that opening though, because the rest was pretty boring.

The height-chart cutscenes were a little surreal there...
