If I could have one superpower it would be the ability to fly. I think flying through the air like Superman would be awesome! What powers would you guys want??

It took me a while to think what super powers I would like...I have come down to 3 possibilities:

the ability to fly
the ability to to have sorceress like powers...magic hokus pokus stuff
the ability to turn invisible

I think I would choose the 2nd possibility that way I could use my powers to fly and do all the other abilities as well

That would be a good power, I think. Unless there was an armageddon and I was the last one alive! But to be immortal...that would be something else. Even if Earth wiped itself out, I would have all the time I needed to figure out a way to build a vessel powerful enough to get me to another planet with life.

Then again, if I had the power to earn Bill Gates money, I could pay for a ship like that...hmmm...which one would I ever choose?

As far as invisibility, I immediately thought of the X Files episode where that guy wished he could be invisible with disasterous results. And invisibility didn't work out to well in Hollow Man (a miserably bad movie if you have never seen it. Worse than the Specials!). Are you sure you want that one?

IN an interesting related story...

I forget where it was, but someplace did a survey on this - asking people which they would choose - the ability to fly, or the ability to be invisible. There were some really interesting results - a majority of women responded that they wanted to be able to fly, and the majority of men wanted invisibility!

I wouldn't mind Storm's powers .... everyday would be sunny, you can (literally) blow people away and she gets to fly, too ... so long as you didn't have to have the silly costume/accent ...

I've ALWAYS wanted to fly.

The ability to shapeshift, and not just people, but animals too, so at least I could morph a bird and fly.

Psychic powers- telepathy and the ability to induce hallucinations

Some comments about the various superpowers:

Flying - I wouldn't be interested in this in the least. Why? I'm deathly afraid of heights. So, I couldn't go very high up, and its not much good is I have to fly slow to avoid all those trees, cars, lightpoles, people, etc.!

Invisibility - could be cool, but here are a few things I'd require with this one. First and foremost, I'd have to be able to turn my clothes invisible too. Just thinking about those cold Wisconsin winters - brrrrrrrrrrrr! And some level of invulnerability would be good - you're bound to get hurt with this ability. No matter how careful you are to not step in front of a truck, or another human being, you can't avoid everything - what happens if you're in the park and a pidgeon comes flying full speed into your head?? Youch!

Psychic powers - with this one you gotta be careful too. It would be cool as long as you have the ability to control who you hear. It would suck if you had to listen to the thoughts of every single person in the room - in fact, that would probably drive you mad.

Immortality - would be cool, other than the fact that you'd have to watch everyone you know and love die. It would be better if you could also bestow that immortality on others, but then you've got a lot of difficult choices ahead of you - who do you make immortal, and who do you not? Have to be careful who you reveal it to, because you wouldn't want that secret getting out - the government would try and get ya for research purposes.

I wouldn't mind having Wolverine's powers - enhanced senses, the claws, healing powers, and the metal laced skeleton (not really a power, but I'd want it anyway).

Uncontrolable Mind reading: Sometimes you just don't want to know what some people are thinking about.

Uncontrolable X-Ray vision: Well I guess you don't have to pretend the crowd is naked when yuo give a speech.

Being immortal: I was thinking of a concept where someone actually achieved it but he was still subject to human pain, hunger, age, and thirst) yet he couldn't have access to them so he has to live forever in torment.

Now Powers I'd want

Universal teleportartion: Like Goku during the Android saga (except without thw whole sensing life force thing)

Flight.

Intangibility:

Joey, I saw this thread title and knew exactly what I wanted. I can say in all honesty that I could stand to look at people naked all day and all night long and feel good about it, too. X-ray vision for me!

Everybody wants to fly so that would be my first choice, but there's gotta be something that's better.
I think I would to be able to materiallize my thoughts. Then I would never need anything. I would, ofcourse like to be able to controll the power so if I was thinking of an Elephant in my it wouldn't pop up in the middle of our livingroom !!

Mom can I keep it??

Teleportation would also be awesome!! Go anywhere in a flash
