John Delaney's Sketch of the Week #55 - Battle of the Runners Up

Welcome to "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

[COLOR= blue]The Intro [/COLOR]
Out of the kindness of his art, John Delaney is doing something big for the fans - an exclusive weekly sketch for the fans who frequent Toon Zone!

Every week, he will draw a new picture based on the results of the poll. That means that *we* fans choose what the image will be!

The Low Down:
The contest will begin every Monday, and end at 5pm Eastern the following Friday, giving fans a solid five days to choose. You can only vote ONCE! John will then draw the sketch over the weekend and we'll present at the beginning of the following week. The characters must be animation/comic characters drawn in the Animated style, and if you have any requests for future polls, send me an email with your ideas! Keep an eye out on the Comics Forum for all the latest action!

The Rules:
We ask that all users encourage each other to abide by the rules.

Rule #1
Respect others on the boards. It's one thing to disagree with the opinions of others and discuss it. It's another to insult them by verbally bashing the choices of the poll. Do not insult any choices on the poll.

Rule #2
If rule 1 cannot be adhered to, you will be warned. If the situation happens again, banning will occur. There is no strike three.

Rule #3
The moderators reserve the right to suspend the poll for a week (or more) if they deem that the situation warrants.

Rule #4
Campaigning is allowed and encouraged, but in consideration of everyone with slower connections, all images should be thumbnailed. If an image program is not available to assist in that, then they must be linked to. Any post with images larger than 300 pixels in width, will have to be deleted.

Keep on sending requests in!!! If there's a character you'd like to see back on the poll again, send requests for that, too. Please keep in mind, if a character has won a previous poll, he or she is not eligible for future polls (unless certain circumstances apply... i.e. Batman & Superman in a group JL Shot). Send all requests to delaney_requests@toonzone.net. Do NOT send them via Private Message. Any requests sent in via Private Message are not considered for the polls.

Reminder to all: just because your choice is lagging behind doesn't mean a thing! If you mount a successful campaign in the last couple of days and pull it out in the end, that is still a victory. So don't get discouraged if one or two pull ahead early: as someone once put it, go with your gut!

As for my vote this week, not too sure just yet. I am still ashamed that Elle didn't win a few weeks ago for Delia's sake, but the Eds, Excel and even Two-Face have peaked my interest. I will give it a few days.....

Oboy, this is going to be an...interesting poll.

I voted for Agent Elle. I really, really want to see her win. She deserves to win. Delia deserves for her to win. I hope she wins.

...And by "successful" we mean working together in a positive way to rallying your support behind the character that YOU want to win, not because Cousin Fred over there says "[Character] must win!" and not by walking around spewing out stupid stuff like "A Vote for [character name] is a vote for Cheez Wiz... and who doesn't like Cheez Wiz?"


Remember, it's about the character(s) YOU want to seen drawn, not what someone else says you want to seen drawn.

well, you won't have to worry about me overcampaigning this week. im not really big on most of these characters (in fact a few of them were my 'enemies' in past polls)...so I don't know who to vote for yet.

maybe some cool pictures of characters would help get my vote...

well the thing about a runner up poll is there are UBER good choices... it's so darn hard to choose, and so easy to like many of them. I love Nightmare before X mas but naturally theres Elle and then theres even more.


I chose Elle of course. Shes my fav character of all time. She means a lot, and I loved her character straight from the start in the movie. Wether she is Dr Laurel Weaver or agent Elle of the MIB, shes tough, smart, and is a great female character. Shes a woman among the Men In Black, and holds her ground.

In the series, Elle is kept going strong and I love seeing where she goes next.

Elle embodies real girl power. She's everything that shows girls can kick some butt, both with brains and as the line that stands betweens humans and aliens, keeping things running smoothly. With the other agents, the ultimate team of protectors is created, and a balance is made.

Shes the girl power without the makeup, overdone hair and trendy fashions. Shes the woman in the black suit, and I am proud to be a fan of her, and proud to marginally share a resemblance with her.

I voted Elle, and I hope others do the same because overall, she is an excellent character, and makes the black suit look good in so many ways... not just visually.
