Re: John Delaney's Sketch of the Week #23 - Venom

Well, I'm the first person to comment on this piece, as it is an unbelievable rendition of Venom. Yay, first post, go me! Ahem, anyway, as I was saying...it has a nice cross between the 90's Spiderman cartoon and the comic versions, and I like the pose a lot. I'd love to see some color though. ANyone willing to give it some? Venom doesn't need much though, and this piece stands alone for sure. Nice job John!

NICE...very very cool. Although clicking on the thumbnail takes me to a error page, the thumbnail is still enough to make me drool...

Looks great. Been awhile since Venom has popped up in current comics so I'm really glad to see some new art of Venom...

I like it! About time Venom got in the spotlight (see, cuz there's a circle of light on the floor around him and it looks like he's...oh, never mind).

Heh..he looks freaky..in a GOOD kind of way of course.

Venom always looks freaky though, so that's no surprise.

Amazing job John! I think this is actually my third favorite piece that you've done for us (right behind the Superman tribute and the Spider-Man pic).

I really love the detail that you gave him and the shading is dead on. And of course the big teeth and long tounge makes him look even more menacing.

Whooooops... Sorry about that... it's all better now... =) (plus, the pic has been added to the Delaney gallery, so it was visible there, too )

HUZZAH!

And to think...some people wanted Sonic to win, and deprive us all of this hap-tastical rendering of the bug in blue!

Thanks, Delaney!

Thanks TonsO' Jim and thjanks to everyone for not only their kind words but their patience. I'm fighting some pretty heavy deadlines right now so I truelly appreciate everyone's cool attitude about the delay in delivering some of the drawings.
Right now I'm pencilling Futurama #10 as well as designing a new animated show called Silverwing and I'm starting on a new JLAdvs written by SCOTT MCCLOUD!!!! ( I'm seriously stoked Scott is one of my favorite writers. I thought his brief run on Superman Adventures was one of the best of the bunch (especially #3)).
Jim, just a side note- the September issue of JLAdvs, that you mentioned before also includes a cover by me. I'm really honored to be a part of such a great issue.
Cheers
John

John, fantastic as always. No matter what we all say I don't think it's possible to express how awesome you are!

John - could you give us any info on the Silverwings series or a link where we could possibly see something about the series?

Awesome pic, John! I wanted Sonic to win, but luckily Venom happens to be one of my favorite bad guys, so this was still awesome to see! Love the teeth, claws, and tongue! Once again, awesome!

Hi Joe
Sorry no can do, I signed a confidentiallity agreement. Maybe once the series is up and running I can get permission to poste some drawings but not until then and perhaps not even then it's up to the producers.
Cheers

Great drawing as always JD. I definately can't wait for the color version of this sketch. B&W is good, but Venom would look great in color
