John Delaney's Sketch of the Week #13

Welcome to "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

Out of the kindness of his art, John Delaney is doing something big for the fans - an exclusive weekly sketch for the fans who frequent Toon Zone!

Every week, he will draw a new picture based on the results of the poll. That means that *we* fans choose what the image will be!

The contest will begin every Monday, and end at 5pm the following Friday, giving fans a solid five days to choose. You can only vote ONCE! John will then draw the sketch over the weekend and we'll present at the beginning of the following week. The characters must be animation/comic characters drawn in the Animated style, and if you have any requests for future polls, send me an email with your ideas! Keep an eye out on the Comics Forum for all the latest action!

Sound good? You can also post your thoughts on the poll in this thread.

So...let the voting begin on "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

P.S. Keep on sending those requests in!!! If there's a character you'd like to see back on the poll again, send requests for that too. harley@toonzone.net Make sure to take a look at the Gallery , which collects all the images done for this poll.

I voted for Snake Eyes. I wasn't really excited about any choices here.

Where are the Watchmen?!?!

Ahem, now that that is out of the way, who wouldn't want to see the greatest comic strip duo of all time, Calvin and Hobbes, drawn by the talented Mr. Delaney?

VOTE FOR CALVIN & HOBBES

I give my vote to Calvin & Hobbes. Much like John's sketches are more than just sketches, Calvin & Hobbes was more than just a comic strip. Bill Watterson's artistic visuals and philosophical writing changed many lives, including mine. Long live Calvin & Hobbes!

I WAS gonna vote Calvin & Hobbes, but I'm a big Gambit fan, so I voted for him instead.

Yeah that's a great one...I sure did vote for it but the only comic characters I submitted were Dilbert, Garfield, and Jeremy Duncan.

I wanted a lot to win, including Cheetara, He-Man and Gambit. However, I could not choose, so I mixed process of elimination like on Survivor and Fear Factor with flipping a coin. Here is how it went:

Round One:
Each of the characters are divided into groups of two, then recieve either an "a" or a "b". If they have an "a", they progress to the next round if the coin reveals heads and vice versa.

Round Two:
The winners of group 1 and 2 are up against each other. The one who wins goes on to go up against the winner from group 3. 1 gets heads and 2 gets tails.

Round Three:
The Round Two winner goes up against the Round One winner from group 3. The Round Two winner gets heads while the group 3 survivor gets tails.

This is the group arrangement:

Group 1:
a. Daffy Duck
b. He-Man

Group 2:
a. Snake Eyes
b. Calvin and Hobbes

Group 3:
a. Gambit
b. Cheetara

In Round 1, the winners were:

Group 1: He-Man
Group 2: Calvin and Hobbes
Group 3: Gambit

Calvin and Hobbes was the winner for Round 2 and the whole contest. The legendary funny pages Stuffed Tiger and Big-Immagination Smarty-Pants may very well also be the winners of THIS contest unless things change in the next week.

I'm glad the character I submitted didn't make it on the poll because now I can vote for the legendary Calvin and Hobbes! I've read every strip and they still put a smile on my face. Please let Calvin and Hobbes win!
