I was kind of hoping that the Japanese guy would have done more than just the monologue last night it was pretty entertaining. The volcano god skit was kind of dumb though so I switched it to Craig after that and went to bed after he finished reading his emails. Maybe I'll watch an entire episode of Jimmy Friday or in the summer when I don't have to go to college early the next morning.

I was glad to see MPG have a sense of humor about it all. For a while I thought he was trying to distance himself from the whole SbtB part of his career and prove his acting chops on NYPD Blue and now Raising the Bar.

But I didn't think he'd ever agree to -- even as part of a spoof -- come out in full Zack Morris mode ... preppy sweater, blond hair, asides to the camera, time out/time in, even the Zack Morris Phone.

Oh, it was. NBC.com should have it still if you want to catch it. I'm not even a big SBTB fan, but it was just such a bizarre thing having him be in character for the whole interview. Then he went on to play the song from their band Zack Attack (?) with The Roots, who promptly switched into a rocking version of the SBTB theme as they went to commercial. I hope Dustin Diamond doesn't screw up this whole reunion thing Jimmy is trying to get together. Apparently it's just him and Tiffany Amber Thiesen who haven't yet agreed to appear.

Normally when Jimmy has a guest I want to see (such as last night with Mark-Paul Gosselaar aka Zack Morris) I watch the whole show to give Jimmy a shot. I'll own to being predisposed to not liking Fallon after his stint on SNL and I'd watched the entirety of every other episode I have watched, but this time I couldn't take it. I get that the Apple stand-up routine was supposed to be funny because it wasn't funny, but I just couldn't take it. Then I came back a little early and he was having Kelly Ripa "Lick if for 10." Fallon isn't bad at interviewing people, but he is not a late night host. His delivery just seems all wrong. I ended up switching to Craig and waiting for Gosselaar to be on.

And it was worth making sure I tuned in to that. After how hard it was for all of them right after the shows ended (and still is for some), I was shocked to see Mark dressed as Zack and saying he was actually Zack. It was hilarious and I applaud him for doing it. The clothes, the time outs, the cell phone—it was great to watch. I think going that far could only help interest people in his show, Raising the Bar, Mondays on TNT.

There's the link in case anyone missed it. Anyway though, I have to give big kudos to Mark Paul Gosselar for doing that. For all the frustrations that the cast had, it's cool to see him act like Zach Morris and embrace it that way. I especially liked his comments like how he was originally from "Indiana but then moved there with his two best friends and principal." I also liked the comment about breaking up with Kelly because she "moved to another zip code." Hopefully Tiffani agrees so we can finally get this reunion going.

I tuned in today for Will Ferrell. This is the first show I've watched since the very first week Fallon took over, so I was curious to see if he had gotten any better. My Goodness, this man is still horrible. That monologue was so painful I had to mute it. After hearing almost no laughs and only a few bits of mercy applause, I just couldn't take it anymore.

What's worse is that the man still cannot do a sketch to save his life. How hard is it to keep a straight face during a bit? C'mon dude, you were a regular on Saturday Night Live. He burst out laughing at least twice during the "serious" bit with Ferrell and ruined the whole thing.

Ferrell was great, though. The only real reason that "grooming" sketch was funny was because he started analyzing it in the interview. I liked the whole "I need to cancel" thing too. Great stuff.

The Zach bit was the first real funny thing I've seen from this show. Not surprisingly, Jimmy had almost no part of why it was so. But its kinda freaky to me how Mark still can pull off Zach.

Like I've said before. Jimmy needs some self control over when and when not to laugh. He's too fidgety.

However he does get laughs (which he did in tonights monologue) and I'm happy that he's doing well so far to somes standards. However when he was singing in the wig, it got... awkward.

It took like, what, 6 or 7 months but Fallon finally did a good episode. Well...half a good episode. Artie Lang. Olivia Munn. Susan Sarandon. When you get a chance check it out on Hulu. The interview portion that is. Trust me. Hilarious. Lang was on a roll.

Jimmy Fallon has finally gotten the hang of it. He's gotten better and I'm seriously laughing right now. I knew he could do it in due time.

The first half of the show still sucks. His monologue sucks. His so-called comedy sketchs suck. And those "game" portions are too daytime-esque. However, his interviews are really good. He's slowly turning into Leno. The first half sucks but the second is good.

Did they ever get around to the SBTB reunion? I only watch Ferguson these days, but I did like Fallon's 'Zack Morris' interview a few months back

I dunno. I'm starting to like the monologues himself. My point is that he's finally slowing down and laughing less at his own jokes, but after the joke has gotten off the ground. He's improving. He can still suck for all I care, but he's improving.

I dunno, I rather like the games with the audience; it's very old-school variety show kind of material, and it sets him apart from the the other talk shows pretty nicely. It actually reminds me of "What Would You Do" from Nickelodeon, and that show was great.

Due to guests I wanted to see, I watched Jimmy three times this last week (Tu-Th-F) and I honestly forgot about my resolution to only watch the guests I wanted to see and nothing else. I would still pick Craig on a random night but I do have to say that Jimmy is much improved.

I don't think his monologue is awesome, but it is most certainly better and it sounds less like he is delivering Weekend Update lines. The sketches or audience games can still be hit or miss though depending on what it is. I had it recorded so I skipped the 'Real Housewives of Late Night' on Thursday's episode after I just couldn't take it anymore. I do like the guest games where Jimmy challenges them to some sort of contest though; I think that is fun.

I think Jimmy's interviewing has improved as well, but sometimes he still gets kind of distracted and makes it more about him than I believe Dave, Conan, Craig or Jay do. I was personally annoyed when Matt Bomer was on Tuesday to promote the excellent White Collar. As the second guest his time is already limited and we had Jimmy writing on the White Collar promo poster with a silver sharpie to give Bomer the feel of a poster around New York being vandalized. What was the point of that? Speaking generally now, I suppose it's more laid back when the guest says something and Jimmy tells a story jumping off of that, but once the guest is there it's not about him.
