That's all I know about it. Probably the same for most of the people here.

Oh and by the way, if you discuss ROMs -- do not discuss unauthorized emulation. It may be a moral gray area, but it's legally black and white, and we don't endorse it. Of course, if you just want to talk about freeware ROMs that are designed for the console, that's fine.

I saw something like this for sale at a game store in Middlesboro, Kentucky today. Maybe not exactly like this one but similar, and it wasn't hidden in the store, they were advertising it with a poster.

The placement of the buttons doesn't really look comfortable at all. Why can't they be centered like the DS and the PSP?

Was it the Dingoo A320? Apparently its rather uneven in quality (or at least Ashen thought it was out of the box).

Again... The Pandora will basically supplant all of these when it finally arrives (hopefully in December). Its been delayed for over a year but the demos on YouTube look extremely promising.

NOTE: Neither of these links include roms.

I think it actually was the Dingoo. It looked like a cheap piece of crap, honestly.

I don't understand why anyone would buy these inferior Chinese products when you can do, um, things with a PSP that make them redundant. Man, keeping this discussion within forum guidelines is like roller skating through a minefield.

Well the thing about the PSP is you can't go homebrew without a custom battery that skips over the PSP's built in bios and those custom batteries have proven to be technically inferrior to the Sony proprietary ones. Furthermore, if you have a game that isn't compliant with your PSP's homebrew firmware then you'll have to wait a few months to play it. Its all a little bit costly and full of BS on all sides.

Not that I actually encourage this. Software piracy is bad kids. Don't even try it.

Considering the ease of homebrew (Note: I said HOMEBREW) that is possible on the Wii (of all things), I'm not sure why anyone would want to bother with buying one of these things. Sure it's not portable, but beggars shouldn't be choosers. As Shawn said, with the PSP, it's still rather pointless.

Yeah, homebrew. People mod consoles to play crappy homebrew games. Yeah, that's the ticket...

No, I can see why people would want to play their "homebrew" portably, and a modified PSP might be a pain, but it's a way higher quality solution than these cheap and cruddy Chinese things.

To be fair, that's not why most people mod their Wii to use Homebrew, but I don't want to say more than that.

I'll agree with you on the fact that the Dingoo is nothing more than a cheap Taiwanese knockoff, but I doubt its a better solution overall than the Pandora, when the Pandora is finally finished. Especially when you consider that the Pandora's analog nub doesn't look like its readdy to self distruct as soon as you take the unit out of the box.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I hacked my Wii for homebrew because my 360 was in the shop and I needed a way to sneakernet Xvid files from my computer over to the big TV on a USB thumb drive. Worked like a charm.

'Course, as long as I was hacking the thing anyway, I did check out some homebrew games, and while Sturgeon's Law dictates that most of them are crap, there are a few gems out there. Ever tried Super Mario War?

Super Mario War is pretty awesome. I kind of wish New Super Mario Bros. Wii had a feature like that. Have you tried the Wii Quake someone made? I think it's based on the old shareware demo. FPS games really are awesome with the Wiimote.
