A product of the clone Dean's diseased imagination.

Anyways, it was good to get a Dean-centric episode since we got a Hank episode last week, but unfortunately, this one wasn't all that funny.

Too much going on

The D-19 thread. Dr. Venture's introdution of Dean to science. Hank's angst. The "Shining" parody that then turned into a Waco parody. Sgt. Hatred's defense plot AND his secret stash. Each thread was interesting, but doing all of them at the same time was a mess. It was frustrating to see so many people totally clueless about what was really going on.

The last scene almost threw me off. For a moment I had thought the whole ep was Hank's dream. But Dr. Venture's ranting showed that the ep actually happened. But, did Hank find out the truth, that Dean was still alive? If so, does he fully understand Dr. Venture's clone plan now?

I really liked seeing Dr. Venture bond with Dean. Nice to see some positive character traits of him. Also cool that Dean enjoyed science. At least at first. I just hope the misunderstanding he had about D-19 doesn't turn him against science for good. Dean had so good character development and I'd like to see him keep pursuing science.

I wanted to like this episode a lot more than I did, but it was too convoluted. Too many random plots and misunderstandings going on the same time. It also didn't help that we got another appearance by Dermot, a character whom I simply don't care for (when are we going to see Triana again?). Some of the music references were amusing, but that's about it.

I'm hoping that things will pick up as the season progresses.

Is it me, or are the characters more casual about pedophilia than you'd expect?

Well, this IS the superheroics industry of The Venture Bros. Children dressed in tight spandex, children being captured and tied up, children being dragged on adventures... it certainly seems like the type of field that attracts less-than-savory characters.

Not the best episode, but pretty entertaining. Unremarkable overall, though. Dermot had one great line, though - Hank says he doesn't know how to fly the jet, and his "pilot liscence is only for single-engine aircraft." I found - and still find - him annoying, but when you look at him as a parody of those punk schoolyard tall-tale spinning kids, he becomes far more amusing.

So the last of the copies is finally dead. I thought D-19's story was weird, though you have to feel for him being 'I wanna be accepted' crazy. When he hugged that Doc Venture at the end, I knew that was one of Hatred's new 'toys' and that would be the expected 'okay, it was fun, but let's end with status quo.' But the real Doc's reaction to it... made the ending worthwhile.

I'm a little confused as to how Hank got out of his predicament at the end... even though the police/SWAT were chasing him for an entirely different reason. Still, I loved his reaction when he drove into a Dean that was already dead thinking he had killed him.

And I also guess we are going to get more of Rusty shepherding Dean into being a scientist and punishing Hank for not wanting to.

This. With the way they would cut from Dr. Venture praising Dean to the "fake" Dr. Venture encouraging D-19 and then cut to three other plots , I thought it was pretty easy for people to get confused. I think this is a prime example of sacrificing funny for complex plots. I love the Venture Bros. alternative storytelling, but there's only so much you can do in 23 minutes.

I know these guys are supposed to be messed up in the head and playing on the downsides of children adventurers , but it just gets awkward to see pedophilia spotlighted, especially when the plot focuses more on development than humor.

Not terribly funny... Ah, I'm just glad we didn't have to see the police/SWAT/Sherrif get killed en mass.

Dr. Venture, like myself, is continuously inspired by prog rock.

He always was my favorite character.

Loved the prog-rock scene. "You are not yet ready to step into the court of the Crimson King!" Awesome.

The rest of the episode was enjoyable too.
