Web of Evil (episode #36)
Written by Kevin D. Campbell (season one's Mystery of Anwat Gar and Sweet Smell of Victory)
Episode description- Webstor builds a spider army that threatens to take over Eternia.
One of the best redesigned characters (with a pretty cool sounding voice) of the entire MOTU line/series gets an episode all to himself! He's been in three episodes, (Council of Evil part 1 & 2, and The Last Stand) and he's never been called by name by anyone. Anyone notice that?
Hopefully this should be good. It's sounds like a filler, but at least someone from Skeletor's team will get the spotlight. They've been kind of left behind sort of with the Snake Men, and now Hordak and The Horde on the horizon.
The Clown Prince
Hm... sounds like Webstor's trying to go independant. I wonder if he'll be doing this spider army behind Skeletor's back or maybe Skeletor doesn't care or is having him do it. But I doubt the last one because then the preview probably would've been "Skeletor has Webstor's army of spiders attempt to take over Eternia."

Kevin D. Campbell. Thank you! See my intro post to see what his other episodes were. I won't get to watch it for another 2 hours out here on the west coast.

High-tension drama, exciting scenes of action, a somber plot of "sibling rivalry". All of these elements, plus much more, made up the He-Man episode called "Web of Evil." At the control of all this chaos was the vicious Webstor. Invading the territory of Buzz-Off and his companions, Webstor gets ahold of Ambrosia. While this substance would have a drastic effect on people outside that species, Webstor develops increased strength and size. The scene where we (viewers) learn his dramatic transformation was an example of horror at its best. With the rest of his race (along with some unborns still inside their eggs), Webstor plans to take over Eternia and destroy. The scene where Buzz-Off and Stratos were wrapped up in Webstor's webbing was downright chilling. Man-At-Arms and Fisto had a nasty confrontation, but it wasn't until the end that the viewers learned they were "brothers." It was a poignant scene because the two were enemies and managed to team up for the sake of defeating Webstor. Unfortunately, the brave Fisto paid the price for his selfless actions. The unexpected arrival of the Snakemen has clearly changed everything. With increased strength added to their already unstoppable powers, the Snakemen will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with in the episodes ahead, which this viewer eagerly awaits. This episode deserves 5+ stars for its tremendously entertaining storyline.

I thought they couldn't use the name Fisto and had to call him Battle Fist. Oh well. Nice seeing him. I can imagine how they are freaking out at the He-man forums. They have been waiting for him for a LONG time now. :p Well, Man-At-Arms brother, Fisto, was introduced, and Webstor got a sex change. Did anyone else say "eww" to the screen when they saw his eggs? When Webstor screamed at the end I thought his babies ate the him. This is a moment in which BW Inferno's line fits in perfectly. *clears throught* "My Queen!" Pretty good episode in my opinion.
My sis and I agreed it was a mediocre episode; ailbet a seriously perverted one at that. XD
The only things I *really* liked about it was all the Buzz-Off screentime, (I LOOOOVE Buzz-Off, fyi) and the return of a big He-Man.org Injoke: Bumblor. (Didja catch the fat andreenid in the bar? That was him. ;)))

A very cool episode! Not only the Snake Men, but the return of Webstor! Webstor was a smart creature this time, taking the ambrosa, and capturing Stratos and Buzz-off compainions. His new spider family was very interesting to watch, because He-Man and the Masters couldnot stop it. Fisto's arrival was very cool (and it was shocking that he is Man-At-Arm's brother), even though I guessed it, because they have very similar voices and same bushy hair. Fisto better have a stronger hand is his next appearence cause he almost died. Even though Teela only had a cameo, this episode was a good return of the other Masters, Ram-Man, Stratos, and Buzz-Off. Also, the fight scenes in the cave was interesting (I must make a note, that the fight scenes this season, are much better than season 1). Voice actor Brian Dobson is a very busy man on this episode voicing Buzz-Off, Webstor, Squeezz, and King Hiss. In conclusion, the Masters are going to be in trouble next week, since the Snake-Men have the power of the ambrosa.
'Bout friggin time Ram Man appears. Is this his first appearence (outside of the intro and Episode 201) in a while?
This was an OK episode, merely setting up Part II. I wonder if King Hiss's upgrade will wear off like Skeletor's did.
Some MOTU Thoughts:
Missed the first 10 minutes. :(
That was funny when Buzz off and Stratos came upon the eggs. :D
Nice to see Fisto, I had a feeling he would be Duncan's brother.
Poor Teela, can't get much screen time.
I totally knew it was the Snake Men that took out the spiders, I dunno why, but when I saw the ground start to open I just knew it wasn't the Masters.
Overall a B-. Can't give it higher since I missed half of it but the half I saw I thought was pretty good.

Throwaway episode. 1/2 star for introducing Fisto, though he was too predictable in terms of saving the Masters from imminent doom. 1/2 star for the Snake Men finally having an edge, thus making them a little better than Skeletor's wussy minions who get whipped week in and week out. Now the Snakes might be allowed to win for once. But nothing else was worth saving. 1 star.

Poor Fisto. Either they have a good excuse or the guy has elephantitis, and doesn't get a proper intro episode at that. Normally you try to make characters look cool and powerful or be comic relief in their intro to impress the viewers but oh well. Can't complain too much since they had character development for him and MAA to a degree. And can someone explain the logic of how the Masters busting thmeselves out would cause the rocks to collapse on them but Fisto punding from the outside worked?
Anyway, at least he'll probably get a better treatment than Fred the diabetic.
And I did love Buzzy being a main player tonight and all the humor.
"But how can Webstor-"
"I don't even want to know."
I don't know, this one felt like it just dragged on and on...at one point I looked at the clock on my computer and thought to myself "It's only HALF over?!"
And Fisto's got a stupid power. Wowee! A giant right hand! I wonder which Mattell genius thought THAT up back in the 80's.

And I wonder why Hasbro reuses the same TF names over and over again. :p
Shoujoaifan: LMFAO, yeah, that was a nice little exchange.
My sis said he was probably asexual. I said he was pulling a Berg Katse. (main villain from 'Gatchaman') Ahh, nothin' like being able to change your gender at will. :D

Just be glad his name isn't Fistor. :D
I knew the ambrosia wouldn't wear off for Webstor. Him being an insect and all. I wonder if he has a relation named Webster that taught him that plan.
I bet Webstor was only able to lay eggs because of the ambrosia. It probably gave him the power to cell-divide or something.

Still far more boring then any Unicron Battles ep of Armada and Fisto's power is laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. Webstor is lame. Snakemen can go to hell except for Kobra Khan and maybe Rattlor. B-
I like Man-At-Arms snake armor and He-mans so i wouldn't mind getting toys of them and Roboto before the toy line and show are cancled which will no doubt happen.
There are GOOD epsiode of MOTU, there are bad episodes of MOTU, and then there are "bleh" episode of MOTU, and tonight's episode hits the "bleh" mark for you.
I've never liked this whole deal of "Ambrosia being the senzu beans of the MOTU universe," and I didn't much like it now, tho the weird subtext of Webstor's plan ("I'll show them! Oh yes! I'll have LOTS OF BABIES!") did kinda make me giggle a bit.
But no more than the introduction of Battle Fisto or whatever the heck he's called. I guess he was the moral of the epsiode--see kids, you do certain things enough and you won't go blind, but you will end up with an abnormally large right hand.
Also, you will be short-packed in your figure assortment.
Middle of the road for me. I never thought I'd say this, but this episode needed more Stinkor.

Webstor invades the Andreneina ambrosia supply he eat's some and goes super. The Avionans go to their aid.Teela then relays a message to Buzz-Off and Stratos of the introsion, they go immeditaly. Meanwhile Mekaneck and Ram-Man are evacuating civilans from a food supply mine which the Snakemen are invading to get food for King Hiss. Until Man-At-Arms and Adam show up in a robotic dog/vechile that spits out slime know as the Spit Bull, FYI it's a real toy.A chase ensues with the Snakemen in the lead, with MAA and Adam in second and Mekkie and Rammy in last,Adam changes into He-Man and stops the Snakemen he also cuts off Tung Lashor's tongue:eek:. The Snakemen escape.I missed a couple of minutes so I dont know why but He-Man,MAA,RM,and Meka go to a pub which some Androneas have gone to get their fill without ambrosia. We then meet Fisto a guy with a giant right hand. MAA and Fisto almost got into a fight if not for He-Man stepping between them they then leave. We then return to Andrenos where Webstor reveals to Buzz-Off and Stratos that the ambrosia has given him the ability to lay eggs. His chilfren are abnout to feast but are stopped by the remaing Masters. They free the Andreneinas from Webstor's web one of them is told to go to neighboring villages and warn them of the threat. A fight ensues. The andrenian messager goes to the pub Fistois at and tells him of the battle. Fistothen leaves. Missed another five minutes but for some reason the Masters are stuck underneath some boulders. Fisto then uses his gigantic right hand and frees them but it is too much for him so he passes out,MAA thanks him and reveals him to be his brother. Webstor and his hatchlings see a peak in the Earth and believe it to be the Masters planning a sneak attack,Unfortunatly it was the Snakemen who stole Webstor's unhatched eggs and gave them to King Hiss for him to eat which then gave him the ambrosa strenght. No time to type up a though review so a B-.

Well that was meh...
I hate spiders...
Looks like He-Man will finally get a "good" fight or at least a sufficient challenge thanks to the snakes eating the sooped up spiders.

The episode was okay, but the ending seemed counter-climactic.
There was also a plothole in this episode. They explained why the ambrosia wasn't poisoness to Webstor (though spiders and wasps aren't really related), but not why it wouldn't be poisoness to the Snakemen who aren't even remotely related to wasps.

As for the snake men maybe it will be poisoness in the next episode or maybe it has to do with them eating the spiders and not the ambrsia itself.

It is possible that the spider babies had processed the ambrosia, leaving only the non-toxic converted ambrosia in their bodies for the snakemen to eat.
However, I wouldn't put it past the Snakemen to be able to process it naturally. There's a bit of mythology around snakes and healing. Not that far a leap to purifying.

A lot of loose writing on this one:
1. What's that goo projectile that Duncan was using? And what use is it if it can't even keep the Snakemen immobile for a while?
2. Why are both the hive and birdnest completely empty? There should always be sentry guards left behind, if not a backup squadron.
3. Webstor is not asexual. The word is hermaphrodite.
4. And why wasn't Webstor's web sticky for everyone except spiders? That's the main point of spider webs; yet everyone was just treating it like rope.
5. At least this one makes a logical progression: bees are eaten by spiders who are eaten by snakes.
6. OK, how many Snakemen do you think attacked the spider brood? If that many MotU couldn't stop the spiders, how about that many spiders multiplied x10 plus ambrosia steroids? The Snakemen must've really kicked ass (certainly more than the MotU), though I dunno why they let Webstor free if they can kick that much ass. Though the idea of Snakemen feasting on spiders would've been a sight.
7. While Webstor and the Bees are both insects, the Snakemen are not. I'm expecting the Snakemen should be ambrosia-poisoned soon? And if so, I thought the Snakemen are a bit smarter than that. Then again, they may not have known that the spiders ate ambrosia, though wise King Hiss should be suspicious where the newfound power originated.

My thoughts of Web of Evil
Webstor became a giant spider with the ability to produce offspring after eating ambrosia (like Buzz Off said I don't wanna know how he did that).
The Snake Men was alright this episode. I just wonder what happened to Rattlor and Snakeface.
Nice to see Buzz Off, Stratos, and Ram Man get more air time and Mekaneck wasn't that bad in this episode.
Finally Fisto appears but how did his hand get that big and he's Man At Arms brother? That's good twist.
Decent episode until the end though so the Snake Men was able to beat Webstor but He-Man and five Masters couldn't? That doesn't make sense.
I think this is first episode that had multiple plots I think if the writing was a little better this could have been great.
Other thoughts on this episode
I guess Webstor is a freelance villain on this show and not just a Skeletor henchmen I wish Mer Man was like that.
Being a snake I guess Tung Lashor can easily grow his tongue back even if it gets cut off.
As for Man At Arms and Fisto being brothers I hope they get more into that next week and what did Man At Arms mean when said Fisto was a deserter?
Overall not good but not terrible either.

That is a huge problem over there at He-man.org. They always seem to soil their pants everytime a character from the old show makes an appearance, and a lot of times, they are proclaiming every new episode to be the best ever.

Spiders are arachnids; they aren't insects.
Speaking of Fisto, how does he, err, "handle" himself? Maybe he's a leftie?

Thanks to my tape, I got to see it. I thought it was pretty good way to enjoy a half hour. The action sequences were great, the plot was okay and the end was good, wonder how the Snake-men will be with that stuff. Webstor also got his fun little episode. I also liking where this show is going, the comapny behind it which does toys has done pretty good with the plot and I think it is similer how 4kids, a company that many people here hate, has done a good job on TMNT.

Very good episode. :D
Webstor gets a power-up and the Snakemen get an upgrade for next week.
Still I wished they would explain a little more how the ambroisha stuff works.
