Despite being very arrogant, I have pretty low self esteem. Especially bout my physical appearance. I'm not that good looking.

I'm at even par I guess you could say. It's not below par nor is it over par.

Luckily, mine is balanced. It's normal because to keep it from being too high, I have my Insanity.

"You ****ing suck."

And to keep it from being too low, I have my Normalcy.

+Hello Diana. I think you are doing quite fine today. Remember: Everyone loves you, espically me+

So that keeps me at a medium. And that's good enough for me.... and Samanatha and Susan of course.

Overall, mine is somewhat low.

My father gets worse and worse every month.

My teachers try to ruin my life, and then say "We're only trying to help. You don't want to live like that!" They are wrong; I do want to live like that.

Do I care that I got 100% on the social studies quiz today? No, I must focus on the recurring problem in english class.

Do I care that the weather and leaf colors and my activity were good on November 2? Yes, but that was one time. Disaster struck eight days later.

What makes it just plain low rather than very low is that good things are mixed in with the problems. The good things are only the minority.

My own self-esteem varies per subject. For example:

If it's about my friendliness, it's pretty high.
If it's about my personality, it's above average - I personally think it's high but that rubs some people the wrong way.
If it's in terms of creativity, very high.
As far as physical looks go, average - I ain't ugmo, but I'm nothing special either.

:p

I'm just wondering why the poll results are public. Are you actually trying to find depressing, perky people?

I can't say. I think I might be bipolar. Sometimes, my self-esteem is high. Sometimes, it's through the floor. It's frustrating actually.

It fluctuates all the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm the king of the world and other times I just feel weak and worthless. Generally I guess my self esteem has been between average and low.

I'd say high, and sometimes even very high. I'm pretty satisfied with the way I am. I'm content and don't care much about what others think about me.

Varies from low to medium during the month, depending on whether it's........urm.......uh.....near "that time of the month."

Sometimes, I feel like Snoopy from Peanuts. I'm blissfully unaware and I love it that way! I have a loving family and the cutest cat in the world! I live in a most idyllic suburb! I have tons to books and manga to read! I'm a UCLA student! I'm a muse of many talents! My drawings rock!

Other times, I feel like Keitaro from Love Hina. I have so little friends. My grades at UCLA range from mediocre to sucking. I don't know what I want to do for a career. My family expects so much of me. My drawings aren't professional-quality, heck they suck. I'm a couch potato of no talents.

But most of the time, I feel....normal. Yeah, life throws you a disaster sometimes, but it throws you a party other times.

Low

I preface stories that I tell my friends with, "Now remember, I'm not terribly bright."

Even though I'm in a top-tier university, and make decent enough grades, I'm dumb as a brick and only slightly more attractive. I have a constant feeling that I'm about to get myself into a situation that I just won't be able to get out of. Luckily, blind luck and incredible circumstance are my best friends. Everything that has happened in life is likely a result of that combination.

Quite high at the moment - had a suprise going away party (I'm on an exchange to the US soon) thrown for me last night by two different groups of friends. They all got together and got me a goodbye book, two yo-yo's (yay yay), a map of the US (in case I get lost....) and a poster all signed by them. Oh and a baseball cap so I can 'blend' in (eg; look like a total tourist). I was genuinely moved. :)

The truthful answer is its high and sometimes very high. I don't equate self-esteem with how I look or how many friends I may have, or what people may think of me, its more to do with how I feel about myself inside, what I know I'm capable of, where I'm going, what I'm doing, my focuses and goals etc. Looking back to my teens /twenties I can see I was completely the opposite then, in fact I was pretty screwed up but to realise this and see that change is never impossible if you want it enough is a boost in its own right, currently I've never felt better.

Oh and a baseball cap so I can 'blend' in (eg; look like a total tourist).

Trust me, I think youll fit in more with the cap than without it, if the pics of you visiting earlier in the year was any indication ;)

As for me, Id say high to very high. I try to be optimistic about things (even though a lot of things happened to me this year that didnt make me very optimistic or allow me to have high self esteem) and try not to be bummed out.... Mostly cause my dtermination and strong will (not to mention the elegant arrogance :D) wont let me get down :p. Ive learned from experience it isnt worth getting pissy or upset about things (was picked on and bullied a lot when I was a kid and into my teens for various reasons). In general, I tend to feel good about myself and my abilities.

Sometimes, having a very high self esteem doesnt help me very much, usually cause it has lead up to arrogance (especially when youre a teen). I used to never be able to take criticism about my artwork until college, where you either learn the hard way to take or not be there :p. I guess, now, Im a little older and wiser to know where and when a little arrogance is good :D.

Also, that doesnt say that I do not get depressed from time to time. Usually, when that occurs, there are a couple people (and yes, they are from here) that I talk to about who, in turn, cheer me up and make me feel my usual evil bouncy self. :D :)

A lot of people seem to have low self esteem.

I have very high self esteem. Self esteem isn't so much the correct term as "Self worship" or "self idolotry". Yeah, I rule THAT much. ;)

I used to have a very HIGH self esteem. That is until I got into school and was made fun of for everything I lived, breathed, was/am, and looked like.

Then I got very low self-esteem to the point of being suicidal. Somehow this girl and I became friends in 1998 and she was way polar. Somehow we helped each other. Then we made it so we knew death was not the answer. We saved ourselves a bunch of money on therapy too.

In 1999 I visited my home country for the first time since I was 3 and it was a breathe of fresh air. I came back to America with a moderate/average level of esteem.

Then 2001 through a bunch of crap in my life [that's in addition to WTC] and I am back down to very low self esteem.

I liked it better when I had average self-esteem. Those were times I didn't annoy people with my non-stop ranting.

That's simple enough to fix: Just don't talk about it! http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif There's nothing in this thread that's compelling people to talk about their own self-esteem (at least, there shouldn't be). If people want to make their personal feelings public, they'll vote (and discuss it), if they want to keep it private, they won't.http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/shrug.gif

I have no self esteem (that came out wrong). What I mean is that I don't consider there to be such a thing for myself. It's just an issue of what I know and not what people think, and I'm fine with that.

I have to say that my self esteem is normally pretty high. The only time it's really low is when the parents are fighting, and sadly enough, it's prety freaquent.

Nick Biped

My self-esteem is about average. I get along fairly well with people (even though I don't have a lot of friends, I'm not very social anyways), I'm doing well in university (though I'm nervous about how a did on a couple of exams at the end of the term), I don't think I'm especially bad-looking, and I think I have some direction to where I'm going to go in life.

That's not to say I don't get depressed, which I do often enough. But it goes away after a while, when I think of things that are going right for me. :)

I'd say high in general, I get the smileys from nice looking girls despite not being the most stunning guy in the world and I'm pretty happy being me even if life isn't perfect at the moment, but then it would probably be boring if it was.

I like being me. http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I'm going for moderate. For a few years I had this thing about my looks going on, then facial hair appeared and that began to shrink. Now somedays I think I look great, somedays I don't. And let's not get started on girls.

It could be obvious that someone likes me and I wouldn't know it/believe it until they or someone else says it. It's happened a lot, you'd think I'd just admit I'm attractive by now but thats just too easy. haha.. :p
