I'm in my second year out of college (since quitting) and I want to go back so badly... but I'm scared to commit to any one thing. I'm afraid that once I get a degree and start the job, I won't like it and I'll have to start over. I still like art, I think, but it's been a long time since I've done anything creative. I'm also interested in health and nutrition, but that could get boring. As I said, I want to go back to school, but every time I think of applying I start to think about all of the possibilities and I'm overwhelmed. Then I just don't do anything and my life keeps going nowhere. Any ideas? I need some help!

You're going to have to go back sooner or later and get a job or else you are going to still be sitting at home trying to find out what you are going to do. Id say go back to college and go get a job.

I think the statistics are somewhere over to 50% of people go to college for something they never use. This probably has to do with poeple going right out of highschool and not knowing just what all they can do. All my siblings went through college and ended up in different fields then what they went for. My oldest brother went back and got 2 more degrees. With two years off it seems you've thought of some things to go back for so you need to just pick something if you really want to go back or like you said your life will go nowhere.

Some people never find out what they want to do no matter how many years of college they take. I'm starting to find that out myself.

I have no real advice, but for myself, I am seriously thinking of travelling for a few months after this year. There are a few simple jobs I could take where I'd be out of the country for several months, and perhaps I might have a better idea what I want when it's all said and done.

I guess I'm starting to be one of those people who recommend college, but don't exactly endorse it as a source for the answers to your life's goals. Ultimately it's a waste of money unless you know EXACTLY what you're aiming for. Until you do, it's best to live a little to find that out.

Say you go to college and you get an art degree (the first thing you listed), even if you don't end up liking it as much as you thought you would would you still like it better than whatever you would be doing if you didn't go to college?

Also, if you get a college degree and you don't end up doing something related to your major, you will still probably be more employable than if you didn't have a degree.

Finally, some colleges are better at this than others, but many times an advisor at the college can help you figure out what you want to do.

i agree with maune. that's what i did. i changed majors at least four or five times before i settled on accounting. besides, you can go to college without having a major declared right away. just work at completing your generals
