Hello, I’m Candy and I’m back on the wagon of nitpicking cartoons for everything from sexual allusions to signs of animation mistakes and plot holes. Since Cartoon Network is airing my favorite episode of The New Scooby Doo Mysteries (the Christmas episode) as part of their Christmas Cartoon hour, I feel that it’s my civic duty to post a list of little things I’ve noticed. If anyone wants to contend with these or add to it (that is, if they watched it), please do so.
I will make Nitpickers Alley a recurring thread as soon as I find more cartoons to flesh out. I do have one for an episode of Ren and Stimpy (classic episodes), but I can’t find it.http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
The New Scooby Doo Mysteries
Episode: The Nutcracker Scoob
1) Shaggy can carry a bed with Scooby on it.
2) Scooby can fit into a punch bowl.
3) Shaggy can fit into a plate of cookies.
4) The little girl (Tina) calls Scooby "Uncle Scooby" (what kind of family is she from? I can understand Scrappy Doo calling Scooby Uncle Scooby, even though I hate Scrappy, but this is ridiculous)
5) Fred, Shaggy, and Daphne have on the same clothes they've had on since the 1969/1970 version of "Scooby Doo".
6) Mr. Nickelby sounds like Thaddeus Plotz from "Animaniacs".
7) Nickelby's cat (Snowball) has pink eyes.
8) Snowball can stand on his hind legs without falling over.
9) The sound of Shaggy, Scooby, and Mr. Nickelby getting knocked back by Snowball sounds like a bowling ball hitting the pins.
10) Shaggy can't get into character (re: scene where he plays Scrooge in the Christmas play rehearsals--keeps saying, "Like...")
11) The Grim Reaper-looking ghost has a green glow.
12) How did Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy get dressed in the elf costumes that quickly?
13) Scrappy sounds like Hamton from "Tiny Toon Adventures" when he sings.
14) How did Shaggy, Scrappy, and Scooby get out of their costumes that quickly?
15) Daphne is still in her angel costume.
15) Scooby can cluck like a chicken.
16) Scooby and Shaggy are shaking.
17) Nickelby's cook is named Mrs. Muffinstuffer (it sounds really sexual)
18) Scooby Doo can carry a horse.
19) Scooby Doo can't sing "Jingle Bells".
20) The name of the sleigh is "The Mystery Sleigh".
21) "The Mystery Sleigh" is the same color as "The Mystery Machine".
22) Mrs. Muffinstuffer sounds like Julia Child.
23) Mrs. Muffinstuffer baked 9 dozen cookies (9 dozen= 108 cookies)
24) Nanette (the French maid) seems to be dusting off Fred more than Daphne.
25) The gingerbread men are jumping into the box and Scooby, Scrappy, and Shaggy are the only ones who can see it.
26) 21 gingerbread men jumped into the box.
27) Scooby and Shaggy aren't affected by the soot clouds.
28) Scrappy convieniently finds a microscope and knows how to use it.
29) The inside of the attic is green.
30) How can Scooby and Shaggy just jump out of a window and not notice until they look down?
31) Shaggy starts laughing for no good reason (except that he’s afraid, but that’s not a good reason)
32) The way Daphne is holding onto Fred as he's trying to rescue Shaggy and Scooby looks sexual.
33) How did Scooby, Scrappy, and Shaggy change into costumes?
34) As Scooby grabs the ghost in the bag, for one frame, Scooby's gloves turn from red to white.
35) Scooby, Shaggy, and Scrappy are actually dumb enough to believe that they can catch a ghost in a bag.
36) Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy, and the ghost were dumb enough not to look at the hole inside the star and see no emerald in there.
37) Mr. Nickelby doesn't notice or care that Shaggy is in a fruity elf costume.
38) The kids and the Scooby Doo gang only practiced for the Christmas pageant once and on the same day as the pageant.
39) Nanette still has her maid's uniform on.
40) Snowball clawed up the feather duster.
41) Shaggy is dressed in a pink ballerina's costume with fairy wings on it.
42) Apparently Tina has bows that match what she's wearing. In the pageant, she has pink bows with pink tights.
43) The mushrooms onstage are purple with pink spots.
44) Scooby Doo has a woman's wig and a pink tutu on.
45) Fred's mustache is blond, but in a later scene, it's black.
46) The frog costume is still onstage.
47) The cat (Snowball) can sit down like people.
48) Mr. Nickelby grabs Fred by the thighs.
49) The way Mr. Nickelby is straddling Fred looks very sexual.
50) How did Mr. Nickelby strip Fred of his clothes that quickly? More to the point, Fred didn’t struggle when Mr. Nickelby was stripping him.
51) The cat can talk (he says "Daddy").
52) The cat has teeth like a human (as opposed to teeth like a normal cat).
53) Snowball doesn't claw at Tina or fight her when being rescued.
54) Everyone applauds as if that sequence was part of the pageant.
55) Only four people are laughing at the ghost running off the stage and the others going after him.
56) The mushrooms that were knocked down during the "Sugar Plum Fairies" piece are now propped up and intact.
57) Fred's nutcracker costume was ripped by Mr. Nickelby, but when they chase after the ghost on skis, Fred is wearing the nutcracker costume.
58) Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy know how to ski.
59) There's a ski jump at the bottom of the hill.
60) The horse jumps into the driver's side of the carriage during the ride down the slope.
61) The emerald was hidden between the nutcracker doll's legs.
62) The male ghost is actually a woman (Nanette the maid).
And these all happened in this episode. I wouldn't lie about anything animated...
