R.I.P. Penny Singleton (Voice of Jane Jetson)

Penny Singleton, known better as Jane Jetson to young and old cartoon fans alike, died Wednesday from complications of a stroke.

I'm going to miss her because she played a very memorable character. Even though the Jetsons only did have one season in primetime, I knew it through the many reruns and it's sad to lose such a familiar voice.

actually, they had two seasons, decades apart..
one season was in the 60's and wasn't renewed.. quite a few episodes of that one despite the short run.

the 2nd one was an update for the early 90's that was in syndication.. had 'orbity' as a new character. still looked at the same world though.

but no doubt she'll be missed.

The article just noted its prime-time run (ignoring the extra 40-something or so episodes made in the mid-80's to boost its # of episodes/syndication sellability no doubt, and those introduced Orbitty [who didn't carry over to "Jetsons Meet the Flintstones" or "Jetsons: the Movie", fortunately])...

Yes, she'll be missed...

Penny Singleton was a very good actress, besides voicing Jane Jetson, she was Blondie in the 'Blondie' movies.
