Don't miss this episode if you haven't seen it. It is somewhat offensive, but what Family Guy episode isn't and it is one of the funniest episodes of Family Guy there is.

So far so good. The beginning is off to a great start. Now to see if its up to the task of matching the hype. Even if it doesn't, its still a FG, so all good.

At the end didn't they show them getting on the bus, they said something, and a cut to the bus leaving? They didn't even show the nuns on the bus or anything... at least that's what I think. Unless the sound randomly died for about 3 seconds over here...

I Hope This Really Isn't The Last Episode Of The Family Guy Review of "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" because FG is such a great show and I wouldn't want to see it end so I hope that CN manages to get over itself and pay for New Episodes to be made and then there are new Episodes Made and I will be happy.

Truth be told, I don't really know how to review this episode.

I could do a normal review.

I could do a top 10 list

I could name every funny joke and hilarious moment

I could mention the bad parts and the good parts

I could make a long dialogue between the characters about it

I could do a song

I could do a parody

I could just quote other people and add my opinions

I could give you a history on this episode and just how "conterversial" it is.

But I won't.

I'll just give you the truth:

A very good episode.

It gets an A+

And that is all

Optimus Prime! Okay, I won't act like a fanboy with no life and rant about how perfect the world is with a crude Autobot on AS. Optimus Prime! The episode was good, average stuff. Optimus Prime! Not that's bad, it wasn't epic like it was made out to be, like Big O ep. 26, good for a decent, relaxing, turn off your brain FG ep. Optimus Prime! And seeing the Optimus Prime scene aftering reading about it and seeing it in the commercial was funny but did indeed lose impact. Optimus Prime!

This episode was definitely worth the wait. I found it hilarious. I liked the part when Seinfeld was on and Brian was frantically searching for the remote. The Optimus Prime and Tony Robbins parts were pretty funny too ("Tony Robbins Hungry!"). And the song... it was, well... I can't really think of a way to describe the song. But all in all, this was a great Family Guy episode, and I also hope CN manages to pay for new episodes.

Hahaha, now I see what was so controversial. They didn't hold back, did they? Still, this ep had me laughing my hardest on many occasions. The "Tony Robbins... Hungry" thing was definetely a highlight. One, for the sheer hilarity and bizarre-ness, and also just because it's so like a certain in-joke of mine. I was sort of hoping Optimus Prime would say something, but oh well. Still, definetely a classic.

Nice to see something sorta new.

Funny comeback by Peter. "If i'm a child then that makes you a pedophile and I don't wanna talk to a perv." or something like that.
Nice back and forth with Peter and the insurance guy..
The clouds plotting to attack... :D
Made fun of Star Wars and Indiana Jones...
Optimus Prime a jew.. :D
Caught a glimpse of the penguin with those nuns..
Still enough time in the episode to make fun of William Shatner..
That note on the fridge by Peter was hilarious.
I was cracking up with Quagmire and the whole looking for his keys.

OVerall an A. Great show. I'm glad it was finally shown. Since it was heavy on religion I could see that Fox didn't take a chance but I'm glad that CN did. Makes me wish for new Family Guy episodes...

Is there anyone who doesn't know what the changed line is? (*has the DVD*)

Anyway, I saw this a few months ago and I think it is an exceptional episode: An A performance. If I have any complaints, it's that Stewie and Brian were very light on dialogue, and that since it's not the most controversial thing of all time, so it is a tad overhyped. But other than that, I give this episode an A.

I really got a kick out of this episode. And I'm not that much of a Family Guy fan. I mostly consider it a mediocre series with occasional moments of comedy genius. They were really "on" with this one, though.

So many funny gags, with Tony Robbins as the highlight. And I don't see it as that controversial, since they aren't really making fun of Jews, who are more or less portrayed as ordinary people (including Optimus Prime). Instead, most of the jokes here seem to be based on Peter and co.'s misconceptions about Jews. So we're not laughing at someone else's faith, but at Peter's stupidity. Am I right? Either way, excellent episode.

And I seem to recall the "lesbian sister of biology" gag being used in Fox's promos for the show. Anyone else remembers that?

I think the "looking for keys" moment is what could be considered the most "edgy" moment, rather then any of the jewish jokes. They're never really made at the expense of Weinstien or jews in general, but rather mad at the expense of ignorant people's misconceptions. FG is an equal oppurtunity offender, you'll probably find the number of gay jokes, racial jokes and christian jokes each equal or surpass the jewish jokes this episode.

Definatly agree with that statement...I am black and I remember some of the black jokes which i wasn't at all offended by. They are mostly common stereotypes. My favorite was when Peter thought he was black because his great great gandfather was black...and he got pulled over by a white officer...the conversation went something like:

Officer: Hey you're that black guy i saw on that news conference aint you

Peter: Yea thats me

Officer: (gets on his radio) This is car 15 im going to need backup, i've got a stolen vehicle here

Peter: But this is my car

Officer: Suspect is getting beligerant

Petter: What?!

Officer: Officer down (the falls down)

Within 1 second he is surrounded by cops...

And then no one can forget what happened to Clevland when he was in Joe's Police Servalance Van..."Minority Suspect, Minority Suspect...danger he's got a gun" I never laughed so hard in my life

A possible theory of why this episode may have been so "controversial"... Aside from the "Killed our Lord" line... Well, when this show was set to air, the Transformers show on Fox was Robots in Disguise. The voice actor who did the voice for RiD Optimus Prime is Jewish.

I'm not saying it was THE reason it wasn't shown, but it might have at least been a catalyst.

There were a few "can't believe he just said that" moments for me too(he being Peter... he having basically all the controversial lines, basically). Some references to stereotypes and such we still take crap over in places. Nothing that pissed me off.

I'm still a little confused by the edit.

ORIGINAL: "Even though they killed my Lord."

MEANING: Jews DID kill Jesus. This is reported in the Bible. Of course, it was only because they didn't know better, and it wasn't like the entire religion killed him. But there was an overwhelming lack of support on his day of death. Even the disciples didn't want to hang around him.

CHANGED: "I don't think they killed the Lord"

MEANING: The Bible is a liar.

Nice, CN. Instead of being sued by Jewish people, you'll be sued by Christian liberals.

Out of the frying pan and into a firey death from the bowels of Satan.

The fact that the Jews were responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus is one of the main arguments used by antisemites to excuse thier bigotry. It's still a hot issue 2000 years after the fact. It goes both ways as well. Some jewish groups feel that any depiction of the events surrounding Jesus's crucifixion as inherently antisemetic.

If there was no crucifixion, the core concept of "Jesus died for your sins" and the resurrection wouldn't have existed. Shouldn't the Christians be thankful that the Jews killed Jesus?

Eh, "Weinstein" was an OK episode- it definitely had some funny moments (Tony Robbins, volcano insurance- "Don't you think we're overdue?!", the Lifetime parody- "Television for idiots"), but mostly it was just so-so. I'm not Jewish, but I definitely agree that the whole point of the episode was NOT to make fun of Jews but to make fun of how everyone misinterprets Jews. P.S.: Production code was 2ACX05, so yes, it should've aired in early 2000. P.P.S.: I thought "I Am Peter Hear Me Roar" was more offensive than "Weinstein" but it also had more LOL moments. "So ya got something to look at while you're talkin' to 'em!", Stewie's reaction to Peter's breast feeding, Peter phoning Quagmire for the heck of it, the overhead of Peter being chased through downtown by an angry mob, the flashback scene- "A boat's a boat but the box could be ANYTHING! It could even be a boat!", etc.

I'm hardly an expert on the subject, but I believe that: a) if blame is to be laid at someone's feet, it's the Romans. They had the lumber lying around, after all. b) This is probably, nevertheless, the more accurate line for Peter, depending on the political views of his particular church.

CHANGED: "I don't think they killed the Lord"

MEANING: The Bible is a liar.

I think that the Pope made a statement some time in recent years saying that the Jews didn't kill Jesus. Not sure where to look that up, though...

Nice, CN. Instead of being sued by Jewish people, you'll be sued by Christian liberals.

Out of the frying pan and into a firey death from the bowels of Satan.

Why would Christian liberals sue them over that? It seems to me that conservative/traditional/orthodox Christians would have more of a problem with such a statement.

You have to understand that The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson is being accused of anti-semite behavior and it's just a film about the death of Christ spoken in a dead language with no subtitles. If that can be up for controversy, this episode can fo' sure, it was a smart idea by CN to edit that line.

But most of all, isn't Peter the stereotype of a "Stupid White Man"? If anything, stupid white men should be the most offended of all!

It's hard to offend someone when they're too stupid to know someone's insulting them. :D

I thought the part about Lois' rainy day money was funny. "It never rains in Rhode Island." It rained almost all last week! Hahaha!

Excellent. I'm glad that someone finally had the guts to show it on TV.
Yeah. Unlike that other station. What a buncha chickens! And I think that warning CN had should be used for all the AS shows, not the one that said that the episode doesn't reflect the views or opinions or Adult Swim or Cartoon Network, but the one saying that some material may be objectionable to some people. It's way better than the warning about how the shows aren't suited for people under 14. This is Adult Swim, not Teen Swim (although that warning about how the material may be objectionable to some people might be useful when airing banned Looney Tuneshttp://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Anyway, I agree with you, Carolina Red. CN does have guts to air this, even if they put a warning before the episode started and changed a lyric, it's way better than not showing it at all.

Just like many of you, I also found the Tony Robbins scene funny as hell.

Damn, FG is still that damn funny...

You know, it is so refreshing to see an unaired episode of Family Guy. The best parts of "Weinstein" were Jewish Optimus Prime, "Tony Robbins hungry!", Stewie on "Star Search", Quagmire "looking for his keys", and "Uh-Oh".

Considering that I don't have Vol. 2(yet), it was great to see one last new episode. And what an awesome one it was. Me and my brother just went crazy laughing.

I would have simply changed "though" to "if."

Math in real life
The clouds are plotting
Star Wars eye surgery
Stewie on Star Search
Optimus Prime is Jewish
Lois and the dog whistle

CHANGED: "I don't think they killed the Lord"

MEANING: The Bible is a liar.
1. Most Biblical scholars believe that particular part of the Bible isn't entirely true; since the gospels were written mainly for a Roman audience, they had to blame someone other than the Romans. But let's just ignore that possibility.
2. "The Jews" did not kill Jesus. Some Jews, all of whom are dead, were partially responsible for getting him killed.
3. The Catholic Church, for centuries, taught that all Jews, past and present, were responsible for killing Jesus. This is what Peter was referring to. This is also obviously false, not supported by the Bible, morally absurd, and one of the few things the Church ever admitted to being wrong about.
4. That teaching has caused much hatred and opression of Jews.

Nice, CN. Instead of being sued by Jewish people, you'll be sued by Christian liberals.
Christian liberals agree with what the editted line says. It's ultra-conservatives (like that group Mel Gibson belongs to, which broke away from the Catholic Church because they actually think the Pope is too liberal) that might have a problem with someone saying the Jews didn't kill Jesus.

I think the most offensive episode of Family Guy was "I Am Peter Here Me Roar" with all the women jokes. I think gays, christians, blacks, and jews have it easy when compared to females from that episode. :D
Now that I think about it, "I Am Peter Hear Me Roar" makes the Weinstein episode look like an episode of The Simpsons. Still, I'm not offended by anything FG dishes out because it's taken in a comedic nature.

BTW: If you watch the last part of Peter's wish song, where he sings, "I don't think they killed Our Lord", notice that his lip sync says, "Even though". For anyone who doesn't have the Family Guy DVD with the original lyric on it, this is the best way to know that something was edited.

Unfortunately for me I have no clue who Tony Robbins is, so that whole thing was lost on me. Optimus Prime was great.

Have you ever seen Shallow Hal? Tony Robbins is the guy who gave Hal the power to see the inner beauty of women.

Anyway, I thought the most controversial aspect of the show was where everyone in the synagogue attacked Lois and she had to defend herself with a star of David.

My favorite line was Stewie telling Meg that somewhere in the attic there is a picture of her getting prettier.

That's a nice reference to "The Portrait of Dorian Gray".

I admit it; it's over my head.
I just don't get why Optimus Prime being jewish is supposed to be funny.
Several people had said that that was one of the funniest parts. Will someone take pity on me and explain? And please keep it simple; I really did miss the point. :o

After all the hype, I was kind of disappointed. I do agree that it was a funny episode. I guess I just expected too much.
