I suppose this could go in the DVD forum, but this isn't about the DVD, as much as it's about the way it's being packaged:

Bandai is calling it Big O II, with the first DVD being labeled as Volume One. As you'll see in that picture, the spine is nearly identical to the DVDs released for "season one".
Why do you think Bandai didn't just continue from the previous DVD releases, calling this one Volume 5? Why call this Big O II, when this is really just a long-awaited continuation of the first 13 episodes?

Question:
Do you think that they will release a Big O II Complete Collection box, like they did for Big O Season 1? I like it as it takes up less shelf space and it's cheaper to boot. So should I hold out for a Big O II Complete Collection, or should I give in and get the individual disc?
Thanks in advance.
I am probably going to pick up the individual disks as the come out. I figure they will wait 6 months to a year after the release of the last season 2 disk until the release a complete collection ala season 1. I'll just trade my season 2 disks in for the complete set when the time comes.

I suppose they just kept that title. I think continuing with the previous releases would have made more sense though.

Actually, the R2 DVDs have "Second Season" under the title of "The Big-O."

Damn, that cover is so much cooler than the one we're getting.

Actually, I'm quite impressed with BOTH box art and they both blow any of the 1st season ones out of he water in "coolness" factor.
I think we're getting the same DVD covers at the Japanese got, it just so happens the Japanese appear to like putting 2 episodes per disk instead of our 3-4. Look at this:
Japanese Season 2 Disk 2 (http://images-jp.amazon.com/images/P/B00009KM0Y.09.LZZZZZZZ.jpg)
It is the exact same cover we're getting for our disk 1:
U.S. Season 2 disk 1 (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/TDmNjZVnHOwx5gt8md/browse/item/61075/4/0/0)
Hopefully those links will continue to work. Anyway, I think the reason why it is Japanese disk 2 but our disk 1 is that our disk 1 will include the episodes found on both Japanese disk 1 and 2. Maybe our release will have reversible covers. The Japanese release ended up taking 7 disks for 13 episodes and ours will probably take 4 disks. Japanese got screwed having one disk have just one episode on it...
You can search for the Japanese Big O on the Amazon.com Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/) site, just need to put in the Japanese words for "Big O" THE ビッグオー, or you could just go to the official Japanese Big O site I believe.

They will eventully put out a BOII box set, but if we get a third season, I think the odds are higher. I can't think of a reason why there wouldn't be a set in the coming future, but I don't expect one anytime soon.
Personally, I'm not going to get the second season DVDs. CN is likely to play the S2 episodes often, due to their involvement in it. Its up to you, but I would wait.

I'll wiat for the Box Set. It'll be a whole lot cheaper.
Speaking of the U.S. dvd release... Animeondvd.com just did a review of the first disk:
Anime on DVD Big O Season 2 Disk 1 Review (http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews2/disc_reviews/2560.php)
Makes you wonder, if HE can get that now, why does it take until late January for us to get it? :p

Screener copy (or just the real thing shipped out in advance). Nothing new. Critics get 'em all the time.

Beh. The review says that the DVD menu is identical to the original four volumes.
Couldn't they have come up with something new by now?

I once went to child's birthday party, and the child threw a tantrum because his brand new expensive gift didn't have a ribbon on it.
What? No, just making conversation.

I really wish they would have continued with the creator interviews that the first four volumes had. I would be especially interested to hear what they had to say on episode 26. Unfortunately, the reviews don't seem to mention any interviews, text-based or otherwise, this time around.
5.1 audio is nice though.

Maybe there'll be something on the last volume (call it 4 or 8) of set.

would to make sense! why make people wait until next um..august(?) to have it all when they could be watching it on tv all that time? the show was done and dubbed even before it came to AS so why take so darn long to sell it? if it is gonna take 8 months then forget it I'll also wait for the boxset. http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif
