View Full Version : 11/10: The Totally Spies vs. Kim Possible Battle Truly Begins

For months, I had been expecting Disney to do this after indirectly calling Totally Spies a "Kimitation" in their summer promos, but now it's official- Kim Possible will be going directly up against Totally Spies at 4:30 pm as of next Monday. KP will retain its 5:00 pm airing as well. KP is airing twice in the afternoon to help promote its TV movie airing on November 28. Now, my question is what will CN do about this move by Disney? There doesn't appear to be new episodes on the schedule right now. Perhaps CN will make a last minute change to the schedule and add new season 2 episodes. Either way, it should be interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing if Disney, CN, and/or Marathon issue ratings releases bragging about the ratings their show receives.

Wow, this is kind of cool to watch even though i have some great news on Totally Spies i knew about for a month ago, just never thought anyone would care. Until now.
"Marathon.fr:

Totally Spies has just started a very successful career in the US !
Broadcast on weekdays at 4.30 pm since July 2003, Totally Spies is the Cartoon Network top rated series in its slot among the 6-11, a head of series such as Dexters Laboratory, Ed Edd'n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog or Scooby Doo.
After strong debuts - during the first week, Totally Spies helped Cartoon Network reach 15% more kids 2-11 than Ed Edd'n Eddy, the series previously aired in the slot - the series increased its audience by 25% within 4 weeks.
Thanks to Totally Spies, Cartoon Network increased its performances by 13.6% compared to summer 2002.
Since Launch, Totally Spies has helped Cartoon Network gather a larger audience 2-11 than its competiting kids networks, although it is normally the kids network n#3 in the US market.
The series' success at 4.30 pm has convinced Cartoon Network to launch a second slot at 7.00 pm, starting August 18th. This new slot gathered an additional 872.000 viewers 2-11 every day."

Sweetie, czyznyck99 was asking you to:
1.) Do some research on more than one website when gathering ratings "news."
2.) Give a link (it's not that hard; the forum controls practically walk you through it) to the source of the news.
AnimationOtaku could've given a link source for the Evo ratings news, but since it's pretty much established that you're a one trick pony whose "trick" consists of running repeatedly into a wall as fast as possible, we're all really tired of it.

I never liked totaly spies...
Sometime i watch it because some of my friends forced me to once, but now I watch it primarily to get a cheap laugh at a show that has no idea what a "scramjet" is in reality.
At least in KP they don't make up scientific sounding words then pass it off as their own. And even if they do it's only cheaply parodying old evilscientists.
Both shows have quirky inventions which could never work by any means. But the totaly spies gadgets are just plain stupid. eg. that a scramjet is a ultrasonic engine which won't even work at speeds under mach 5 and when they do work they go mach 25. Or .. atomic booster boots? comon that was horrible.
I guess now I can at least go to the lesser of two evils and watch disney whilst I wait on CN to finish up with that other show.

Quote You: At Marathon.fr, in a news report Totally Spies has become the #1 Cartoon Network series aiming for ages: 6-11, Wow! And, also gained 25% veiwers in just four weeks from the debut of TS on CTN.
That seems like your saying that TS was the number one show, and not just the ratings bump. Read posts and messages carefully. From what the TS fan community has seen from you, that's a big problem.
And for the record, LFV post contained proof that X-Men did better then TS.
And use non-biased sources. IE: Don't use Disney to check how it did against Nick, because your going to get a positive spin on it regardless. Toonzone, isn't owned by any big TV/Animation studio, so the facts here are just facts.

No, you were wrong. Of course you didn't say anything about X-Men. That's why you were wrong. X-Men was the highest rated telecast for that month. Totally Spies wasn't even on the list. A jump to #1 in the highest rated age group on CN would have been noticed. That was the point. It wasn't noticed. So something is screwy.
So I played fair, and went to your "source." And here's what they really say...
So in its slot, as opposed to the whole network, it's better than Dexter, Ed, or Courage, for that slot, and only that slot. You just jumped the gun and assumed that it refers to the entire network, which is bogus. So the screwy thing is you. You misquoted the statement. And that's why no one believed you. Because it wasn't true.

Nice use of qualifiers to pretend you're don't like either. Because if you hated both, it wouldn't be the lesser of two evils, you don't have to watch either one of them, there's other channels out there and there's plenty of things you could do with that time. But let's cut though the BS: you like watching KP. that's why you watch it and defend it.
I honestly watch TS when I'm bored because the girls look attractive and have boobs. I'm shallow like that. I have no idea when this Kim Possible comes on, but from the McDonalds comercials I've seen, it's an horribly ugly looking show with a horribly ugly main character.

It's aso fascinating how Znath used the fact that stuff on the show couldn't ever happen as a bashing point.
If I bashed shows sorely on the fact that the didn't follow the laws of chemistry, nature and physics, I'd probably hate just about every single show.

ABC really wasnt the channel who originally aquired TS, Fox family was. But, since Fox was sold out to abc, they wanted all adult/comedy/love shows... so slowly i think they just kept pushing off certain shows when they're seasons were finished quickly.

2. You did in fact said it was number 1, because your source also did. My problem was with what the #1 ranking was for. You just said it was for ages 6-11. The source says it was for 6-11 for only the time slot it was presented in. You didn't tell the whole story. And that isn't good.
3. And I don't get annoyed very easily. But your blatant ignorance to just misquote an article in order to falsely worship a show that really isn't that good does annoy me. About as much as this whole KP vs. TS garbage.

Yea KP can be fun at times, and I can actualy say I like it a bit. It depends on the episode though. Sometime it's funny because it pokes fun at the old "mad scientist" evil take over the world things. But sometime it gets a little corny and i have to turn the channel.
It's aso fascinating how Znath used the fact that stuff on the show couldn't ever happen as a bashing point.

Well sorry :D But for me physics and chemistry are kinda important to me
especialy in a show that tries to sound scientific. It wouldn't be so bad it they just called them say "rocket shoes" or a jet powered golf kart. But no... they had to add something they thought sounded neat like "scramjet" and "atomic".
I just have an engineering type view on shows.. so as a result it's hard to impress me with inventions and gadgets.
KP doesn't claim to be ultra scientific and is more comedy oriented.
TS thinks it's scientific but isn't... mostly action and gimics

To be fair, there is a fine line between expressing one's opinion, and being a jerk about it.
It's fine to say you don't like TS. Heck, it's fine to say you think the animation is horrible. But when you start saying the show should be placed in the garbage, and insulting the fans, that's when things go from just expressing an opinion, to being a jerk.
But it's good that you do have an opinion. If no one did, this board would stink.

If there happens to be another thread asking people's opinion about "Totally Spies!" sometime in the future, I expect Redi to say he absolutely hates it (or something else along those lines). That's fine. He has a right to express his opinion. But to do it four times in a single thread (That's the average count of Redi's TS-bashing posts between both of the threads I cited)?
If I may, allow me turn the question into something perhaps personally closer to you, Kenshin X. Let's say hypothetically that there was a thread in the Toonami section asking people's opinion about "Big O!" (I think that was where it aired way back when) How many times do you think is enough for a person to say they really like, or really hate the show (again, in the same thread) before it would start to get old?

Well, let me give you this piece of advice. You can keep quiet for the sake of board harmony but that never addresses the root of the problem(s). There are times that one must speak out lest the board takes a turn for the worst.

Here's something interesting I noticed. Today during Do You Beleive in Magic? during the first TS break sign there was a commercial, and at the 2nd TS break sign, there was no break sign, but during the 3rd TS break sign there was another commerical. Thats weird.

Well after trying to watch Totally Spies for 5 minutes just now? I realized something.
Totally Spies is the most stupid sack of stupid to ever stink up my TV.
Kthxbye.

Okay, i dont think its a good idea to make TS threads anymore, if this is all thats going to happen, like bashing. I dont do that to other threads on like batman or duckdodgers..

I don't bash Kim Possible in KP threads. I want to, but know better.
Course, some people have the need to bash a show at every opportunity, and troll the threads. We like to call them immature.

Eh, skip it. They either truly don't know any better, or are purposefully ignoring the argument to further their own perverse enjoyment. Either way, it no longer matters to me.http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/shrug.gif
