I never understood why the Sorceress won't tell Teela that she's her mother. It is becoming apparent that Man-at-Arms is Teela's biological father, something that always made more sense to me as a kid than him being her adoptive father just because the writers felt that kids shouldn't be exposed to the idea of children born out of wedlock.

OK, why is He-Man suddenly saying puns? That's not right.

Two things I noticed about Teela in this episode: One, I'm happy that the writers finally made a joke about her hairstyle, and two, it seems that her voice actress has more of an American accent for season two(Or they got a new one). Whatever.

And design-wise, this reminded me of Star Wars, particularly the Ewok/Yoda style of the creatures.

so far ,so good.. skeletor still lying his you know what off to get out of trouble, teela suddenly getting the ability to sense stuff, and nice new digs for skeletor..

i guess skeletor finally stooped to slime skeletons, MMM.

wow, ewoks (sorta).. or are they relatives of the robot pandas from thundercats!?! MMM. and stinkor returns to mouth off a bit. stench and slime, YUMMY.

oh great, one more secret for man at arms to have to keep back from randor. good thing he has a cell phone to the sorceress in his mind @_@. nice job little TRAITOR! BAM!

when will evil fiends ever know to beware ladies with glowing eyes?!?!

nice friendship with soldier, the sorceress had , and then, i guess some lovemaking (offscreen) hehe hheh.

best stuff was in the beginning.. the knowledge man at arms is the adopting father of teela, and what she's capable of , really. man. nice way heman figured out to beat the slime skeletons.

best, in the beginning. amen..

Interesting episode.

It was nice to finally see the writers develop the Teela and Sorceress story.

Skeletor using the slime mutants were obiviously a commercial for the Slime Pit but it was good.

Also good to see some of Stinkor's past history.

Solid episode not the greatest but far from being the worst.

And I think I know who that soldier was and who he turns out to be.

A lot better then last week's episode. So we learn that the Sorceress is a great warrior when she wanys to be. We also see IMO ,Teela finally being funny.Other highlights included Odipheus he's so cute, the flashback scene, and the battle between the Slime Monsters. An A+.

You know, I never even considered that Man-at-Arms could actually be her real father and just not know it. That would make for an interesting twist.

well CN's poor treatment of this series continues I see! it was only by chance that I hit the wrong channel at 7 and saw He-Man on! warnings and promos are always welcome..but I guess they still consider SVES second rate.

I liked the episode even though the fighting was pretty weak. Skeletor shoo'ing away Stinkor was funny. Teela's still a boring character. I wish she could fight better or use magic or do something useful. better then last weeks for sure anyhow! http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

I really, REALLY liked this episode. It was nice finally getting to know the sorceress on a deeper level.
It was nice to have the slime pit introduced and not making the episode seem as if it were a commercial for the darn thing. *adds slime pit to list*
Stinkor's people got showcased. Odyphus (sp?) has always wanted to be a part of a gang I see.
The Sorceress is majorly cool! Now where's her action figure!? She also looked a lot like Teela in her more mortal form.
Was it me, or did the Sorceress rip off part of that guys arm? I could swear the guy had some goop on his stump like blood or something.
Now the Sorceress meets a wounded soldier boy and falls in love and into his um ... 9 months later and Teela is born!
The way the guy was bandaged up ... the right arm ... Fisto? Ick! It can't be him. His bandaged face looked more like MAA to me. He didn't have a mustache and that fits into the non-mustached MAA flashback from the Teela episode (was it Ties that Bind?)
MAA gets Adam and we finally see Cringer included in transformation.
Teela got her hair chopped off by He-Man - her hair was stuck in goop. She did need that trim, I always thought her hair was a bit too long.
Teela, MAA, and He-Man save the village of Odyphus people from Skeletor's slime thingies (I forgot what they are called).
MAA stands to look at a carving of the sorceress made by the villagers. Sorceress say the bandaged man, her "husband" who had amnesia, left one day [he got his memory back?]. He had left her with a gift, Teela, MAA's daughter. ... Adopted daugher, corrects MAA. That seemed kind of odd to me. Was Sorceress trying to tell MAA that he WAS the daddy?

9/10 [mostly because of the back story]

So that's it huh? I wait all f***ing week, and all I get is "oh, we're so sorry, we decided to change the time, oh, actually ANNOUNCING we changed the time? No, we dont need to do THAT"

I've had nothing but a bad day all day and all I ask is to be able to watch the shows I like without getting screwed over AGAIN. Lst week it's big o, today it's HE-MAN not to mention an episode I've been WAITING PATIENTLY to see!

I didn't like this show to begin with, but I have to say that Skeletor is growing on me. I loved his scene with Stinkor "Good idea, now go back into the basement." I also got a kick out of Skeletor just showing up at the village blasting away at it, letting loose the slime monsters and then just leaving. It's great to see a bad guy who gets a kick out of being evil.

The Czyz-nit on He-Man, Episode 29

“By the power of Grayskull, I have…” little relevance in this episode.

Teela gets knocked out in the middle of yet another random fight, and gets taken to the village of the little Stinkors. After which she wakes up to discover that there is a statue of someone that shockingly looks like her.

Of course, her overprotective mother, the Sorceress, doesn’t want Teela to ask questions, so once again she makes Duncan divert her. Okay, I admit that this is actually one of the more likable storylines of the series, certainly the most consistent. But why, oh why keep playing this shadow game with your girl, protector of shiny crystals inside of ugly-looking castle? I guess we can be grateful that Teela’s spunk was eliminated by the end of the third episode, or I might have to worry that she would turn evil in anger if and when she finds out how she’s being played. I certainly wouldn’t blame her.

Where was I? Oh yeah, the repeat request from “The Ties that Bind.” And just like that episode, the Sorceress goes into an extensive back story of how she wanted to find some peace, smell some flowers, etc. And she stumbles into the land of the little Stinkors, and they welcome her and feed her. And she in turn protects them against the evil ones because of the traitorous cries of a scared little Stinkor. Am I watching He-Man, or a religious cartoon? It’s scary how similar they are. She does literally put the fear of some higher being into everyone. And she even stops the village elder from wasting Stinkor, because the Elders love all of Eternia’s children, after all. Seriously, if the Elders knew that Stinkor would grow up to literally stink up the joint, I would like to think that they would have let the ax drop. But instead, Stinkor gets to make a statue of the Sorceress. And sacrifices are made every second Monday of the month, or at least they should be.

Finally, Sorceress answers the question that I have long been asking about Teela: “Who is the biological father…?” And although the episode makes it clear that this was out of pure love, I can’t help but wonder that no one ever really does care about the father. At least the Sorceress looked beyond the age of consent. Anyway, she waits for her long-lost love, with his little “something to remember him by.” So does the Sorceress holding her stomach mean that he left behind indigestion? He couldn't just give her a ring?

Ultimately, Adam jumps in to collect his proverbial paycheck. Seriously, this episode would have been better off without him, and He-Man. Other than the high priced chemistry lesson he gives later on, he served no point. And I thought Man-at-Arms was the smart one. If anything, I guess I can’t call He-man dumb. That’s no fun.

Anyway, Skeletor feels like taking his sabbatical, and goes to the land of the little Stinkors to smell the flowers, find some peace, be welcomed, fed, and have a statue built up in his honor. But since he doesn’t really have a nose, and probably already ate before he left, he decides to trash the place. And of course the little Stinkors expect Teela to glow the eyes of doom and save the village, because in their mind she already did it once, and nothing says “I love you” like having your messiah return. Ah well, it was religious fun while it lasted.

Slime monsters appear, and ultimately Adam ends up remembering his pottery lessons. You know, the one about malleability until introduced to intense heat, then shattered. It could work, it does work, and once again Teela and Adam save the day, having no clue what it really meant. Duncan isn’t much off, either.

I can’t stand this episode for several reasons. It had too much of the “wandering traveler” aspect so it almost appeared religious, and Adam had no reason to be there, at all. The Sorceress’s games are going to catch with her, but other than, I could take this episode even if “The Ties that Bind” was a better emotional story. This one was just there. Teela passed off the episode basically as a joke, which was a major letdown. But it made me miss half of Andromeda, so that has to count for something. 1.5 stars.

Later.

Besides the Slime-pit, the warlord/young Stinkor flash-back and the " go back down into the basement" joke, that was the only interesting about this episode.

I don't like Sorceress overall in this series, but in that flashback she kicked major butt. I wish she was more like that in the series. It also doesn't make any sense. In the flashback she said she had limited power to defeat the invaders, and yet she was more than awesome in taking them out. But when she's at Grayskull, with the castle's full potential at her disposal, she gets snuffed out like a fruitfly.

He-Man slicing off Teela's hair was also a highlight for me. She looks better with her hair down, and I wonder if she'll sport her hair like her action figure and in the comics from now on.

I was also thinking it's possible that Man-At-Arms might be Teela's biological father. The way he paused and added "my adoptive child" at the end made me question that.

Overall, very enjoyable episode.

1. What's up with Skeletor leaving the battle of his grand ole plan? Was he attacking another village? Had he something better to do? I thought he loves watching other people suffer? That's not a very good way to begin his new plan of conquest.

2. Teela's daddy - what a guy, huh? Used the oldest trick in the book to knock up a chick. Amnesia - yeah right! Wanna bet he's married with kids, maybe even several? Forget He-Man, he's my new hero - he's more of a "he" and "man" than He-Man could ever be, trying that trick on a powerful sorceress AND succeeding! :D :anime:

3. So... "daddy" scored while wrapped in bandages, huh... must had let the sorceress do all the "work." ;)
Is this some sort of reversal of the otaku fetish on bandaged Rei Ayanami? :D :ahem:

They're bringing back the Slime Pit toy? Hadn't heard that. Parents with carpeting in the house will be terrified again.

Now, I know that in shows like there there's a certain Lois-Lane-blind-to-the-obvious thing, but one would hope that even Teela could put together the timeline of a woman who looks very similar to her being around about a year before she was born.

Ah well, we'll probably have to wait until the next season for further development of the Teela-Sorceress thing.

And the obligatory appearance of Stinkor's people. Again, it's nice to see them show were all these non-human characters are coming from. Makes the whole thing seem more legitimate. Who's left? Anybody besides Webstor?
