Well up untill a few day's ago i really had no idea that something like this would happen to me....but then again with my god awfull luck it's no surpriese.

i'm not sure if i should be writing this but I need to sy somthing and not just keep it in me like i've been doing with thing's before.

Well anyway's here's the story a few day's ago i had twisted my leg and i thought it would just end up going away or something...well i waited about a week before telling anyone bad idea. My mom dident belive me so after a few more day's of complaing she ended up takeing me to the doctor and i though it would just be somethin like I shoul stay off my feet for a while...I was dead wrong.
After he talked to my mom he asked to see me alone and on my way out i saw my mom he was looking t me like somethin big had just happened.
So after talking for a hile wih the oc about plain old stuff about health and how had my day been going and stuff just making plain converstaion. Then cam the really bad new's about what had happened to me he said that it's nothing tht ill affect my life big...ya right Well he said that the fall i had taken a few day's ago had ripped somthing and started to spped up somthing with so I asked him just to go ahed and tell me what it was it turn's out without MAJOR surgey by the end of next year I wont be able to walk at all. Turn's out I have arthritis in a very rare but very real advanced form of young arthritis. And wel now i'm here wondering wht to do my mom said it's up to me all my operation's will be covered by medicaid. but i'm not sure if I want to have the operation...not yet anyway's he said i have a SMALL chance of being able to get out of this ok with out operation.

jeez hyper d! i'd get the surgery. don't question it. there is no reason to take a risk on your ability to walk again when you can get it fixed right away. besides, if the expense is covered already, there's no reason not to get it done

I would also suggest you to get the surgery. The long term pain of arthritis will be more painful that the recovery of the surgery. Just make sure that you do all your rehab after surgery too. It may hurt like you know what, but it will help in the long run. (Believe me, I work in rehab and see it frequently) Good luck and make the right decision kiddo! :D

Man, that sucks.
I don't have anything constructive to say other than "good luck."
Hope for the best. And never lose hope.

Is it inevitable? If thats case I myself would go for the potshot and see if the operation turns out all right.

This actually sounds like something happened to me once. My back was starting to hurt me a few months ago, but I decided it was nothing and not to tell anybody about it. It got bad enough that I couldn't ignore it anymore so I told my mom about it. At first she thought I just wanted to skip practice which I did. She asked if I wanted to go to the doctors or go to practice after some quick arguing. I quickly changed my mind and told her I was fine. Well, I wasn't and sprained my back.... I still don't know what was wrong with me in the first place though. I never mentioned it again.

Oh, right. About your operation. Like I said, I would probably think it over some more. You would most likely be better off getting it, but trying to imagine it from your perspective I can see why your reluctant about it. Heck, what do I know.

How soon will you lose your ability to walk w/o surgery ?

Do you want a sure thing or to gamble ?

Walk now or maybe be able to walk later and for the rest of your life ?

The right choice(s) is whichever one you make.

I agree. My dog had a leg issue last year - cancerous tumors - and we had the leg removed in order to keep him alive and not in pain. He adapted to it very quickly. I suggest you do whatever it takes, as long as the cost (financially or otherwise) is reasonable and has a good chance that it will be successful. It's better to try something than sit back and do nothing - if you do nothing, you'll be second-guessing the decision for the rest of your life whether you should've done it or not.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, dude. *CROSSED*

Go for the surgery! You shouldn't gamble on your ability to walk. When I was little I always thought it would be cool to be in a wheelchair, especially the one;s that are controlled with a joystick. I always imagined myself racing down the sidewalk in one of those. :D But now I'm older and wiser and know being in a wheelchair is no good. Like Tim said, you don't want to end up second-guessing, wondering what could have been.

Good luck!

hyper d! now you listen to me! you all are about to see a different side to me. hyper d, you are making me angry. you post a thread asking for our advice. every single fricken person on here is telling you take the surgery! instead of taking our advice which YOU have asked for, you shove it back in our face and say you'd rather take your chances. now, you take the surgery and let us know how you're doing

I'm 15 too, and I would hate for something like that to happen to me. As for advice, it's hard to say, but I would go with the surgery.

Good luck with whatever you choose, I hope everything turns out ok... :)

Don't worry about the surgery, it's not that big of deal. Trust me, I was in a similar situation, plus it's not worth risking your ability walk.

I would definately take the surgery if I were you. I can see both sides of the story, but the gamble is too much not to take it. All I can say is do what you think is right, and good luck!
