As a true Saint Seiya fan, its my mission to make you all understand that what you see on Cartoon Network’s Knights Of The Zodiac isn’t what it seems, first of all there are no rainbow colored blood, only RED blood but DIC edited it out and used colorful blood instead, some of the characters names were changed, the plot has been changed Shiryu wasn’t losing his powers, he was DYING! Take my advice and buy both the DVD distributed by ADV, which has the true uncut version in both Japanese and English (with a different dubbing cast) and the original music score and of course the manga comic released by Viz Comics. Take Note the anime is a million times better than Dragonball Z. Purchase them at Amazon.com:

WARNING!!!! SPOILER!!!! An English Scanslation of the final volume of the manga.

Can you guys believe that America may become the only country where Saint Seiya will fail to find an audience, while it’s still considered to be the most watched and most popular anime in Europe, Asia and Latin America? To sum it all up, please this anime another chance.

Meh, Knights Of The Zodiac has really burned me out on anything to with Saint Saiaya. I'm just trying to make the whole thing be erased from my mind. Happy, DIC?

Not everything that is popular in one country translates perfectly into another. Time slot, language, release date, native culture, and other factors all dertermine the popularity of a show. While its nice that you like the show, don't go shoving products in everyone's face making them look. Cartoon Network is seen in millions of homes and is far from being "underexposed". If people find an interest in the show, they'll do their own research. If you feel so strongly about the program, perhaps make a fan page on it. As for your "SSS" campaign, please tone it down. There are people sick, dying, and hungry around the world, and the last thing that needs saving is another TV show. We don't need you to preach the praises of Saint Seiya here, at least not in the manner you're going about it. Thank you.

yeah, everybody knows kotz is not SS, except for some petty mind who still can t believe it, altough dozens of people who know the real SS told them.
Well, people who know the show ll buy ADV's DVD anyway, as for the others well let them where they are. If they want to find out what the real SS is about let them buy the dvd(or borrow it or rent it), if they don t, well it d be partly Dic's fault but what can you do?

Ahem, is such an (idiotic) answer really useful.

Ehhhrm, you don't get they're not the same thing? KotZ is Kung POW, StS is one of the films used as footage in kung POW. BTW, the name is Seiya.

Umm... why's the manga still called Knights of the Zodiac?

Probably because Viz thought it would be good to use the "brand recognition" from DiC's version, which I think it's an incredibly bad move.

BTW, StS doesn't need saving, since it has an uncut release, and with a rather good dub too. It's there for anyone that wants it to pick it up.

Well Saint Seiya is known everywhere in the world except in America.

Let's face it--Saint Seiya isn't probably going to do well here (no matter what name it's under--if you're going to argue about names, then you deserve a prolonged, twenty-one  salute) unless its non-dubbed fans really rally together and petition (NOT through online petitions but through standard means that take some more time and effort) for a video release from a major distributor. Goodness knows how much was blown on the dub (which I'm reluctant to watch, thanks to the buzz here).

Frankly, I'm gonna be shocked if we see another, different post from this person. After all, if at first you don't annoy, spam, spam again.

Considering there is an uncut dub and a subtitled release here in the states, I don't see what needs to be saved. Yes, there's also a TV edit that everyone says is pretty bad, but the simple answer is don't watch it, and buy the uncut release.

As much as St. Seiya is popular throughout the world, it's just starting in America now. I don't think it's going to be all too popular with the masses, considering how dated the animation is.

There is already a release of the uncut version. ADV Films, probably the biggest anime distributor in USA has it. As for the name, it was done to separate the 2 versions. KotZ only uses the footage and the basic stuff for the story, but all the rest, from music, dialogue, some names, story, scenes, etc are changed (the spirit of the show is pretty much gone). That's why StS has a dub, done by an entirely different group, since they're handled as different projects. Thus KotZ does not equal Saint Seiya. KotZ equals lame version by DiC.

The campaign would be better if it were called "Can DiC's KotZ" :p

Most Importantly, why is there a sudden influx of Newbies? More than usual on all the boards? (I only notice it, because Newbies have been asking odd questions on all of the boards today.)

Well I agree, the animation is dated and its not gonna be very appealing to the audiences, but StS do have a last ditch solution to save itself....

Saint Seiya - The Hades Santuary Chapter (http://fuunoroad.free.fr/Hades_Hen3.html)

Because of this, its no longer an "old stuff".

I hadn t seen SS in a long way and when i saw my dvd i was pretty shocked by the animation.
At first i didn t understand reactions of people concerning animation, i do now.
But the spirit of SS is elsewhere... :)

Frankly, I'm gonna be shocked if we see another, different post from this person
?? who s this person?

unless its non-dubbed fans really rally together and petition

again it s not about ss being dubbed, it s about being badly dubbed, ADV's dub seems pretty good.

As for kotz well, we just have to leave it where it is. I don t think it ll air long anyway.
Just hope it won t affect the release of the ADVs dvds.

Do NOT believe whole of my word, but a rumor going on online community in Japan... The rest of the Chapter Hades DVD will be released after the upcoming Zeus Movie is out in Feb 2004. This rumor started from a radio show hosted by one of the voice actors of SS. Relatively reliable resource, but still just a rumor.

No matter how bad the English "drub" looks (multi-color blood effects, etc.), the important thing is that Saint Seiya is getting at least some kind of exposure here in America. And on the plus side of the bad "drub": more customers for the uncut Saint Seiya version. And judging from the posts I've seen, there's going to be a lot of customers clamoring for it!

As much as St. Seiya is popular throughout the world, it's just starting in America now. I don't think it's going to be all too popular with the masses, considering how dated the animation is.

Yeah, kinda like what happened to Gundam. That is, in order to get a foothold in America, Bandai started with Gundam Wing, which was then the newest and flashiest Gundam series, and since it's also Alternate Universe (AU), it's easy for new fans to get into without knowledge of previous Universal Century (UC) Gundams. While that ploy worked, on the flipside, the flashy Gundams have spoiled America against the old dated animation of the original MS Gundam.

Same thing for St Seiya. When people from other countries saw St Seiya, it was a long time ago, when newer flashier anime weren't available on their shores. Meanwhile in America, we got these newer flashier anime before we got St Seiya, so America got spoiled and less forgiving on the old dated animation of St Seiya. While the new Hades Chapter OVAs have improved modern animation, unlike Gundam Wing, it's a continuation of the original St Seiya and thus need prior knowledge to get into. So it's harder for new fans to pick up right off the bat (not to mention that ADV first has to dub all of the old St Seiya TV before releasing the Hades OVAs, so it'll be awhile).

In conclusion, as with the original MS Gundam, I doubt St Seiya will ever become popular in America - it just came here a bit too late (maybe if it had gotten here a decade ago, when all there was on TV was Ronin Warriors and such, whose animation is also dated and comparable to St Seiya).

Most Importantly, why is there a sudden influx of Newbies? More than usual on all the boards? (I only notice it, because Newbies have been asking odd questions on all of the boards today.)

Nah, they just came here to only talk about St Seiya.
