I just read on radio-info.com that Radio 104, Conn's modern rock station is now a hip-hop station. This is just sad.

Radio 104 was a great station that played a lot of 90's songs every day. Now in its place is probably the fifth hip-hop station in Conneticut.

Dang you, Clear Channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking as someone who lives in a 'Radio Family', (My dad is the program manager for 100.7FM up here in Maryland) I have heard stories about the monopoly known as Clear Channel. They just... don't seem to *get* what the radio buisness is about most of the time. :shrug: That, and all of their stations sound nearly the same if it's a certain format. O_o;

Did I mention they even own MALLS? (*coughWhiteMarshMallcough*)

So yeah, I'm right up there with the anti-CC crowd. :D

As long as nothing happens to the formats of 105.7 "The X", 99.1 HFS, and 97.9 "98 Rock Baltimore"....

I'll stay happy. (It's like I know the Empire' s out there, but Darth Vader hasn't done anything to me yet.)

White Marsh? That's owned by the Rouse compnay, not Clear Channel....

As for the company, CC is a real bastard of a companywith they way they go about buying up radio markets and in how they've come very close to decimating the concert industry with the yway they've been jacking up prices on both the tickets and the concert pavillions they own.

BTW, don't worry about 99.1 They're owned by Infinity broadcasting, a division of Paramount, same with 94.7

I agree. I'm a big fan of "The X" as well, only I'm talking about the one out of Pittsburgh (105.9). The thing that I noticed about The X compared to the other Clear Channel Stations, like the uber-popular WDVE (102.5) or the crap-taular The End (106.5) in Charlotte, is that the DJs have much more control over what they play. Whipping Boy, for example, plays mainly The Ramones, new wave, and grunge while Grimm plays harder stuff (Tool, Alice in Chains, Manson). If this changes, then I'll be angry. If this stays the same... ignorance is bliss.

I'm on the other side. Clear Channel RADIO is a hell demon, I will admit, and Entertainment has done some bad choices too, but I had a good experience at Outdoor, and I'm heartened by the news that CC Entertainment is going to save Philadelphia's last movie palace.

While I don't really get Clear Channel, I don't appreciate this change they're making, but I still don't have any right to say anything about it though.

I can understasnd your anger, but the only stations I tolerate are Clear Chanel ones.

Big 106 (miami)

and 104.1 (Talk radio, Orlando)

and I'm happy

104.1... *sigh* I miss 'The Drew Show'. :(

Actually, I also miss The Fiasco on 101.1 too.

Man, Maryland radio sucks compared to Florida radio. :(

Hehe, up in Seattle, most of the major stations are owned by Fisher Communications, and their pretty hands off, so that's cool. The irony is that college stations BLOW. Their music just...Sucks. :p
