well?

I LOVE to pop my knuckles. Especially when they are all krispy. My favorite finger is my pinky. I pop it in all 3 joints. It actually hurts but the moment I pop it it feel soooo goood *swoons*
If I don't pop them my fingers feel stiff. I know that it's not good and I've tried "rehab" several times but it's just too damn hard :-P

What about ya'll - what joints do you pop and do you have any unusual places you pop?

I pop; fingers, toes, neck sometimes

Several times a day I crack my fingers, toes, back, and neck. The neck is the best because it’s very loud and usually some squeamish type is in the vicinity and they turn and look. Though a good pop of the back is actually very relaxing too, it usually requires and another person to do it right, but its usually worth it.

Arrrrrrrr, no, don't even talk about doing that. I'm actually sitting here cringing at the mere thought of it. Shudders go down my spine when people crack/pop their knuckles near me it just sounds so grisly (gristly?)

I really don't do any body popping but that does remind me of one of my old high school teachers that could pop her wrist out (somewhat) and re-pop it in.

I pop my knuckles , and neck (really loudly) and sometimes my back (but never in that riiiiiight spot)

I had a manager once who was a cyborg (he had a mechanical peince for a knee) and he could pull his lower leg out of it's socket and pop it back in. freaky

I love to pop my knuckles. All of the joint in my fingers crack including my thumbs. My neck cracks too, and it's loud. It disturbes a lot of people. My back cracks too but not as well.

My jaw always needs a good pop, I believe I have TMJ. It hurts, too.

Other than that, I love it when my elbows pop. I can't do it on demand, but when I'm in a funny position for a while they crack really loud when I move them. It feels so good.

My toes crack a lot too, when they've been cramped up in shoes all day.

whenever i pop a knuckle or two, it's always absent mindedly. i'm thinking of something else, like reading a book or waiting for my cube to load the game. i tried to crack my back but i just can't make it work. my elbows crack but only after i wake up and stretch

Always! I have arthritis in my hands and it helps to loosen up my stiff fingers. I also occasionally pop my toes, more for fun than anything else, and I always crack my back before going to sleep. I used to do my neck, but I haven't in a long time. Every once in a while my hip will pop as I get out of a car and it HURTS! Not nearly as much fun as the other stuff http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/anime.gif

I crack my knuckles all the time, I also crack my neck and especially my shoulders, but that's because I'm really flexible. To crack my shoulder i usually roll it forward and backwards a few times and every once in a while if I'm feeling stiff I dislocate it, though that's mostly for show. My favorite stretch is something I came up with on my own, I don't think anyone else can do it except me, no ones believes me until I show them, basically I grabmy hands together behind my back then I take one elbow and stick it through my other arm,I do this while moving them both over my head until my arms are crossed in the front of me, then usually to finish it off for show I loop both arms around my head. Oh and I never unclasp my hands while doing this entire stretch, like I said it's quite difficult to imagine.

I do all the time. But my dad says that's not good for you.

Some girl sitting beside me was constantly cracking her knuckles in my first class on Monday. I found that curious.

On the other hand, I was squirming in my seat like crazy, so I guess I looked silly too.

For those of you who think it's bad for you, that's just an urban legend, much like the urban legend that standing too close to a microwave will cook your insides or sitting too close to a TV will cause you to need to wear glasses. Popping your joints is GOOD for you. It increases your flexibity and relieves stress in your joints. I recommend you do it often and daily.

I can constantly crack my fingers and my hands, though I'm pretty sure I'm in the early stages of carpal tunnel syndrome. I also do my neck. I've never cracked my back though.

As for whether it is bad for you or not, it seems it is still up for debate. For those who are interested, you can read more here (http://www.scientificamerican.com/askexpert_question.cfm?articleID=000852FC-73B0-1C71-9EB7809EC588F2D7&catID=3&topicID=12).

Edit: Here (http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_418.html) is another article by the wonderful Straight Dope, this one more pro-cracking than the other.

Do it all the time. My neck, too. It feels good, and it scares the hell out of half my classmates.

I'm not saying that cracking my knuckles is good, but I do it quite often, I'm afraid. Let's see what I do when I get into my full-blown routine:

-All finger joints
-Thumbs
-Wrists (rare)
-Elbows
-Shoulders (extremely rare)
-Neck
-Jaw (extremely painful)
-Back
-Lower Back
-Knees
-Hips (rare)
-Ankles
-Toes
-Mid-foot joints

I like the loud ones. It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something worthwhile. :p

Eeeek, from the words of Edd, that is disgusting(sp?).

But really, donh't do it too much or your bones won't be too good in the next few years.

My jaw always needs a good pop, I believe I have TMJ. It hurts, too.I'm fairly sure I've got TMJ (well, everyone has temporomandibular joints... I mean the disorder), too. Thankfully, mine seems to be of the mild variety, and the only time it really, really hurt was for a two-week period a couple of months ago where I couldn't even open my mouth wide enough to talk (lots of mumbling) or eat (lots of mushed/chopped up food) without it being extremely painful. The first time I had any problem was when the jaw just felt sort of weird, shortly before the pain started. I've popped my jaw a few times since, with varying results.

Moving away from the jaw, I also pop my knuckles (pretty much any direction, depending on the mood), thumbs, toes (mostly just the big and, uh, "index" toes, though), neck (quite often), and elbows (occasionally, when they feel tight, I'll stretch my arms to the point where they pop/crackle).

I don't necessarily pop my knuckles; I'm more into cracking, especially since I'm a writer and my fingers will be in a lot of pain from writing and typing.
