View Full Version : Building you a BETTER Cartoon Network
Sketch

With recent posts about how much the classics are getting the cold shoulder and there being far too many CC's on CN I decided to build a better Cartoon Network. Full of classics, orginals, the best action show on the planet, and shows for the adults (of course). I decided to keep Toonami short on weekdays, but I brought back the Rising Sun because it's likely the only place we'll ever be able to see RK reurns, GW and MSG ever again and the Midnight Run on Saturday after SVES. I used an expanded Adult Swim schedule but kept it off Saturday and Friday still. I made Friday's schedule much more bareable, made a girls block and brought back Card Captors and Sailor Moon, and shuffled a few things around. Oh yeah and I made prime time worth watching as well. So tell me what you think...

I like the Toonami part a lot. ;)

Indeed I have.
Yes I thought Toonami had much more variety now.

To me, a better CN would be:
*The return of Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Dudley Do-Right.
*More new episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog
*Less Anime!
*Return of the old prime-time line up(which was 7:30-Dexter's Lab, 8:00-Johnny Bravo, 8:30-Grim and Evil, 9:00-Courage the Cowardly Dog, and 9:30-Ed, Edd n Eddy.)
*Less, and Less, and LESS Scooby-Doo!
Hyper Luigi, your schedule pwnz. More variety. Little bit of Anime, little bit of Cartoon Cartoons (at the same time, a LOT less than 56 and a half friggin' hours, which 99% of are repeats), little bit of classics, and a little bit of the kids' stuff (Baby Looney Tunes, Pecola, etc. Note that I did not mention Hamtaro since I consider that Anime. C'mon, you can't deny it!)
A better Cartoon Network to me would be:
- More Toonami!
- Less Cartoon Cartoons! (56 hours is just overkill, especially when you have room for more, a.k.a. BETTER stuff, and at the same time having 99% repeats)
- NO SCOOBY-DOO!!!
- Adult Swim on Saturday nights. All I can really stay up to watch is Family Guy and Futurama, and what I really want to see is the Anime.
- Two seperate channels devoted to Cartoon Cartoons and Toonami/SVES/Adult Swim, so that the Anime/Non-Anime haters can shut up.

You had me, until I saw Midnight Run had no Robotech. That, sir, ruins the whole thing. :p
Yeah, but they can't have it seeing as ADV owns the rights now.
I must say some of your schedules hurt my head. I really love consistancy you might say...
The Friday blocks some of you make have far too many doubled up CC's. I say the later hours should have the CC's that fewer people watch because it gives them a place on the network as well as the popular ones that will get aired just about every day. Sundays and Friday's should be the big CC days. Other than that they could air weekdays to fill up space but only air one episode of each and only for the more popular ones (ie, Dexter, PPG, Courage, and the Ed's) and possibly some not so popular ones like Cow and Chicken (which used to be popular acutally... I think...).
Smurfs and Scooby Doo are both good cartoons and deserve to be in with the other good or classic cartoons. While they may not be quite as classic, they are classic to some people. Some people still have too many showing of Scooby on their schedules IMO. There should be 2 at most any given day.
Showing classics "uncut" and without logo's is an interesting idea, but highly doubtful they'd ever do it. This is CN afterall. They put their label on pretty much every show.
I edited in Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Doo Right, Underdog, and George of the Jungle. The deserve to be on regular CN as well. I simply forgot about them for a moment.
After going over my schedule, I recognized that there's a whopping 43 hours of classic cartoons on my schedule (if you count all the old Hanna Barbera toons except Scooby Doo as "classic cartoons") and an even larger 49 hours of anime on there.
That means there's over 2 days of anime on my schedule!
And even though it doesn't look like it, there's only 22 1/2 hours of Cartoon Cartoons!

Smurfs and Scooby Doo are both good cartoons and deserve to be in with the other good or classic cartoons. While they may not be quite as classic, they are classic to some people. Some people still have too many showing of Scooby on their schedules IMO. There should be 2 at most any given day.See, with Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes, most people respect them even if they don't enjoy them. Whereas with SMURFS and SCOOBY DOO, I don't know anyone who likes them for their quality but rather for nostalgia value or possibly just marketability. "Nostalgia" and "what made cartoons what they are today" are completely different things, and even if they are both "old," they don't belong in the same block. This is just my opinion, of course.

Oh dear... I'm afriad that's an idea I might actually try!
I've decided to mess things up a bit more. Now I'm going to make this schedule exactly what I want wether or not it lacks some logic. In otherwords ADV shows! Because we just can't have TMR without Robotech... now can we?

That is a very good line-up Hyper Luigi. You were able to put good shows in decent times which I like. And the Girl Power Block is a great touch! :D

Man that lineup will be good for every fan on ToonZone, and let's hope that this will be true if the get the right demands and stuff, then that maybe ready for the big time. :)

I must say some of your schedules hurt my head. I really love consistancy you might say...
Yeah, I can understand that. But that's why there's called FANTASY schedules. You should know better than anyone.
I'd like to see you in charge of CN's scheduling...
What, nobody likes my schedule?
I thought it was pretty good considering it had near twice as much classics as cartoon cartoons...

I liked it a lot; I just forgot to comment. Seriously, I didn't forget about your schedule. :p
CN NEEDS MORE CLASSICS, DAMMIT.

That would be awesome, but by the time I'm qualified or in the area to even apply for a job at Cartoon Network pretty much all of the shows on my schedule will be done. Ah well...

Some of you might of read Jeff's Harris latest editorial from The X Bridge. If you haven’t, here it is:

I would agree that fixing CN's scheduling is a need to make it a better TV network.
Seeing a post from the Fantasy Schedule Pimp always makes a crappy day alot better. :D

ADV does NOT have the rights to Robotech! They may have ADV on them but Harmony Gold contracted them out in regards to Robotech they are little more than a jumped up DVD distrubutor. Harmony Gold retains sole rights to all things Robotech.

Wow Jeff made quite an article. Would it be so wrong to have SVES turn into Toonami? I don't think it would. They could keep all the same programing (except perhaps YGO and Pokemon) and it would be great! It would give Toonami it's edge back and the promos would't be so... how do I say this? Happy...
I never really thought that CN was catoring to 4kids, but I guess it's true. The ONLY thing I'd ever really love having on CN that 4kids currently has is TMNT and possibly Shaman King and Sonic X. DESPITE any changes to them.

Agreed, except I could do without Shaman King, just not my cup of tea. I'd even put up with TMNT if SVES could be turned into Toonami. But I guess the 8-bit promos are cheaper to make than new Toonami animations.
