Nice episode that told us a bit about Mirouku. The best part was when he said "Well I'm glad you asked" to Shippo. A-

The "Kagura's Dance and Kanna's Mirror" Inuyasha Episode Review asks: Will You Bear My Children? (Damn It, Go away Miroku, you fuedal japanese lecher!).

Now this is more like it. A more concentrated and less borrowed from previous episodes plot, introducing new characters (Kanna and Koharu) who play intergal roles in the story, as well as a real cliffhanger ending. (Inuyasha fighting off Kagura's Wind attacks with his Tetusiga while Kilala has to hold of the possessed villagers while Miroku is holding the possesed Koharu who plans to stab him in the back literally while Kagome is getting her soul sucked out by Kanna's mirror) makes this episode even better. And a lot of Miroku's a pervert jokes in the beginning help make this episode fun. And Sango getting jealous is a sure sign of a good start to a Miroku/Sango relationship. I give this an A.

Awesome ep...same formula....same goodness.

So thats Kanna, devious little girl isn't she?

And Kagura...well next ep, you get to see how she gets around the Kaze nu Kaze (wind scar) I'm loving IY right about now...Oh, and Miruko, just what IS his problem? Seriously, dude back off. Not every girl is your chick!

Okay, everyone, let's recap the recap, just in case everyone missed it at the END OF THE LAST EPISODE! Of course, once we got past that part, things started moving along nicely. We meet Koharu, a girl who has fallen in love with Miroku *gasp!*. He asked her to bear his child at age 11 (the REAL reason this episode was TV-14), and she wants to bear that child at age 14. Kagome was right: the feudal age IS different.

Hints of a Miroku/Sango relationship start to really become apparent. When a girl sets herself on fire, you know you had better keep clear of her. And Inuyasha proves he has a soft spot by trying to stop Koharu from crying, the big softie.

Then we are introduced to Kanna, who also seems to have her name pronounced correctly (two n's, not one). I just wish Naraku made the distinction that he was Kagura's older sister (it's true). After everyone gets settled down, Kanna lays the smack-down with her bad-ass mirror while Kagura keeps Miroku and Inuyasha entertained. Sango gets b!tch-slapped by her own boomerang, and Shippo once again proves he's useless.

Is it just me, or was the dub script tonight one of the most faithful to the original dialogue? Kanna's voice was good despite it being so brief, and although Koharu's voice was a little unsteady at the start it did sound comfortable by the end of the episode. Oh, and wasn't the preview for the next episode unintentionally hilarious?

"This time we will get Naraku for sure! Next time, "The Wind Scar Fails". See you soon!"

Fun.

Overall, a very entertaining episode with one of the show's trademark cliffhangers. Definitely good entertainment for this reviewer. Overall, A-.

Edit List:
Why is "Inuyasha" on Adult Swi...oh, never mind.

1. Miroku groping Koharu cut.
2. Inuyasha hacking a lone villager into pieces by mistake cut.
3. A shot of a naked Kagome as her soul was being ripped out by Kanna's mirror cut.
4. Shippo giving the finger edited...

Okay, I'm just making this stuff up. It was uncut.

Miroku outdid his wanting to **** an 11-year-old girl by wanting to **** Shippo. (I thought Shippo was male)

He didn't want to **** Shippo. He just wanted to explain the "facts of life" to Shippo.

Incredible episode. Almost as many lol-worthy moments as Sunday's episode of 'Big Fro,' and surprisingly few moments when Shippo feels it's neccesary to provide a running commentary. There is, however, one thing I've gotta ask about the series in general, and that is: Where the hell did Sango get a boomerang from?

First off, it's feudal Japan. That oughta be enough, unless I need to say that the traditional 'obtuse-angled-wooden-thing-that-doesn't-actually-come-back-when-you-throw-it' boomerang is an Australian weapon, used by the Aboriginal peoples.

Secondly, based on a passing statment about Oda Nobunaga, we can infer that Inuyasha takes place between the unification of Owari in 1551 and his death in 1582. The Dutch first landed on Australia in 1606 and there wouldn't be any kind of contact that didn't involve shoothing until at least a hundred years later.

Sorry to kinda go on, but ya sometimes need big tweezers to pick the big nits.

I can't believe something that cute can come from a fiend.

As the episode started I just stared at the screen when Kagome recaped for the 10 millionth time about the evil Naraku...

When those villagers mistook Sango as Koharu, I wanted to watch Sango kick some butt. But Inuyasha appeared and proceeded with the beat down. Oh well. :)

It was funny watching Inuyasha and company react to the news that Miroku had proposed his pitch "Would you consider bearing my children?" to Koharu. LOL, their expressions were priceless.

As other posters already mentioned, this episode hints at Sango's feelings about Miroku. Watching her burning like that was kinda scarey.

Looks like Naraku has another devious plan in the works. Inuyasha is busy with Kagura, Sango and Shippo are down for the count, Kanna drawing Kagome's soul into her mirror, and Miroku is occupied with Koharu. I wonder how they will get out of this mess.

Ya know, when I was watching the same freakin' recap of the last epsiode... I thought I was watching the tape of Thurs.' episode for a second.

Fun episode, though, despite that. Sango is absolutely terrifying when she gets j-e-a-l-o-u-s, and everyone's (Kagome and Sango's) disgust at Miroku asking a then 11-year old to bear his child... too funny.

Kanna doesn't look anything like I expected her to, despite seeing her in the last preview. She's way too cute, and doesn't look a thing like Kagura... and she's the older sister? ::blinks:: Ah well. Kanna's still pretty cool, however.

And the unintentional hilarity of the preview was priceless. :anime:

1. Only now do we get to see the full perverteness of Miroku. Almost makes me want to see the possesed girl stab him.

2. We get it. Naraku's the bad guy.

3. Now of course, Naraku has two chicks helping him out (three if you count that undead slut Kikyo) and looks like he's holding the cards in the next battle, with the Shikon Jewel in his possesion.

Was it just me, or did it looks like Naraku had nearly the ENTIRE jewel back together? Have all the pieces been found, with them being in either koga`s legs, in inuyasha`s group, or with naraku?

No, and if you look closely, there's a chip missing when Naraku held out the jewel (though I'm surprised how much of the jewel has already been found).

BTW, guys, give Miroku a break. As he himself said, paraphrased, "Does it make things better if I say I never laid a finger on her?" :D And he made the girl happy and have a "purpose" in life.

And look at Sango, getting pissed that the little girl got asked while she got nuttin'! :D

Wow. Aside from the beginning recap stockfootage that's only been used 32 times, we got a great episode. We see the full effect of Miroku's pervertedness this time. We also got to see some relations forming between him and Sango. Now we just need Shippo and Kilala to pair up. *objects thrown in AO's direction* I was kidding. That also had a good ending, though the next episode preview was funny. "This time we'll get Naraku for sure. Next time, 'The Wind Scar Fails', see you soon." I'm glad Inuyasha has such vague episode titles. Like this one and, "Tetsuaiga is stolen! Showdown at Naraku's Castle." Just to name a couple.

Tonight we get what is quite possibly the LAMEST of the Inuyasha EDs, performed by whatsheruglyface... the woman who sang songs that were later compiled into a megamix that played during Molly Star Racer. The problem is, that's after someone ELSE took her music, sped it up, and funked it up with 'teh phat beetz'. Her music by itself is slow, boring, 80-ish, cliche.

And this ED is no different. Guuuuuh.

The fourth ED is also by her, and it's.. DECENT. But not great.

But the fifth ED, by Do As Infinity.. holy crap, it is great.

I wholeheartedly agree with you there, Matt.

It's almost like the animators of 'Dearest' wanted to see what the Inu Yasha cast would look like if they were recovering heroin addicts coupled with slow paced "easy listening" music.

Meh, while I'm at it...

V6 - 'Change The World': old school Inu Yasha. Great scenes and animation from the early episodes, not a whole lot to complain about.

Dream - 'My Will': again, old school Inu Yasha; we get to see the girl of Inu Yasha and a giant glowing ferris wheel. What's not to like?

Do As Infinity - 'Fukai Mori': Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru...oh yea...more Sesshomaru. Nice guitar in the background too, all around pretty good.

Hitomi - 'I Am': very bright and cheerful OP and you get scenes of everyone in it. Meh, it's ok as well.

Ayumi Hamasaki - 'Dearest': bleh...but not the worst.

Aikawa Nanase - 'Owarini Yume': it's pretty good, and before it I never thought still pictures could have so much action!

BoA - 'Every Heart': has excellent animation and I love the song for some reason, you get a lot of Inu/Kag shots.

Do As Infinity - 'Shinjitsu no Shi/Uta': great ED, but for me 'Every Heart' still takes tops. Great song with great animation, what more could you want?

Every Little Thing - 'Grip!': best OP so far...why? THE SHICHININTAI!!! Oh yea, good song too, very upbeat, and the animation is very crisp and clean.

day after tomorrow- 'Itazurana Kiss': MY EARS, THEY BURN, AHHH, NOT MY EYES TOO, AHHHHHH...*passes out*. In a less painful review, it's basically corny/stupid music with cheesy animation scenes and Inu Yasha running...and running...and running...

And that is my review and analysis on all the Inu Yasha OP/EDs in Inu Yasha so far.

Heh, I have yet to find anyone (with half a brain) who actually likes that ending. But, I agree, "Itazurana Kiss" is horrid, especially following the brilliance that was "Shinjitsu no Uta". It's probably because hardly any of the episodes in the Shichinintai arc end on an upbeat note, so the song style is just a really awkward way to end the episodes. All the other IY endings have been pretty mellow, but "Itazurana" is like "Hey, let's all go hang out at the roller rink! Yah!" I can only hope the seventh ending makes up for it. And, as much as I like "Grip!", they need to ditch it pretty quick considering
all the Shichinintai are dead now, and they've moved on to the Hakudoushi arc, so having them pop up at the beginning of every episode seems kinda silly. It's like saying, "Hey, remember us? We're all dead!"
Granted, I have no idea what styles of music to expect from Namie Amuro and Tackey & Tsubasa, who are doing the seventh ending and fifth opening, respectively. I've never heard any Namie Amuro music, and the only Tackey & Tsubasa song I've heard is the one that plays at the end of episode 124.

But, yeah, brief comment on "Dearest", since that's the only ending that's really relevant to the majority of the people here ^_^*. Meh, I don't really like it. It's nothing but still images of the cast just kinda sitting around. All the other endings have a sort of "we're going somewhere" feel, but "Dearest" is more of a "we're hanging out doing nothing" feel.

And.. So, Kanna is introduced. And, she's the oldest of the 2 two sisters. Doesn't look like it, does she?
Random Note- Koharu has a kinda high-pitched voice..

Hey, about the preview (Will we succeed at killing Naraku/The Wind Scar Fails)- Hey, Kagome could kill Naraku. She almost killed him, once before. Or, they could somehow get the shard away from Naraku, and Miroku could suck him up. Hey, it could happen. :p

Even though it doesn't..

.. I agree with everyone that Itazurana Kiss isn't that good..
And Grip rocks. :anime: (Although, Itazurana Kiss may've been better with the Shichinin-tai included, too. :p)

Good episode, but not incredible. I don't think Viz 're-dubs' the flashbacks, although, they're probably not supposed to.. Hm. Grade- A.

It's Overflowing With Souls And About To Burst! It's The Inuyasha "The Wind Scar Fails" Episode Fails.

First Things Last: The Ending theme song. Pretty slow and forgettable, but not as "bad" as some people say it is. Then again, hearing it over and over again could change my mind about that. Anyway, onto the episode. A really long "Last Time on Inuyasha" segment that did have new material about Miroku telling Kohaku about his Wind Tunnel was okay, although it really wasn't that important. At least the gang know about Kikyo giving Naraku all of their jewel shards, and manage to escape this time. A lot of this though was kinda there, espically Naraku's escape and the epilogue. Best part: Inuyasha using the Wind Scar and getting it thrown back at him thanks to Kanna's mirror. He should be lucky that didn't kill him. I give this episode a B.

And tonight's episode is further proof of how good this series would be if we didn't have so many freaking recaps.

Great episode, and we are now getting into the best part of InuYasha's storyline, the broken Tetsusaiga story-arc. It's not a spoiler because it was the name of the next episode. :P

And tonight's new ending theme seemed most appropriate given the depressing ending we got. It's no surprise that Matt was wrong, but some of you actually agreed with him for once...

Good: The "flashback" sequence before the title card had some new stuff said between Miroku and Koharu.
Bad: It didn't really matter in the end, and the rest of the episode was still littered with flashbacks.

Okay, so what happened outside the flashbacks? Not a whole lot, but enough. Inuyasha attacks with the Wind Scar...and Kanna reflects it back. But wait...here comes Kagome to save the day (really?) with her magical arrow! She breaks Kanna's mirror, causing all the souls to spill out, including her own huge-ass soul. Everything gets back to normal, except now Inuyasha has ANOTHER reason to hate Kikyo, even though he doesn't. He calls her "My Kikyo?" How touching...even though she wants to kill him...or does she? I wish the b!tch would just make up her mind.

Not as good as yesterday's, but still entertaining. Overall, a B.

Small notes:

- Shippo continues to prove his 99.9999% useless. All he's good for is stating the obvious and trying to look/sound cute while doing it. Maybe once in a while he'll actually use his fox tricks to help, but those are few and far between.

- Is Trish Ledoux still working on the scripts? I can't tell, because the dub script is insanely close to the original dialogue. If you are still working on the dub, Trish...don't stop this! Please, for the love of God, don't end this streak!

- "Dearest" is one of the most saccharine songs I've heard, especially with those equally-saccharine images accompanying it.

Edit List:
Naraku, Kagura, and Kanna: One big happy but demented family

- Kanna exposing herself teasingly cut.

The unholy trio... Inuyasha feels the wraith of Tetsusaiga.

This episode's recap wasn't so bad since it went over last episodes events. If it was another NaRAKu is evil recap, I would have gone nuts. Also it was kinda cool for them to included the discussion between Miroku and Koharu, which wasn't seen during the previous episode due to watching Inuyasha and co exchange glances at the burning Sango.

For a second I thought Inuyasha had been cleaved in half by his own attack... Ouch that hurts. Also watching Kagura quickly step aside and then Kanna appear right behind her to reflect Inuyasha's blast was a cool scene.

Geez, Kagome has one big friggin soul to make Kanna's mirror full.

I forgot to set my VCR.(Curse school, curse it forever) Can someone give me a summary of what happened.First there was a flashback of the last episode, then we get a flashback of Miroku recapping his past for the new girl, then there was some more recap of the last episode, then Kagome escapes from Kanna (Kagome has a really big soul and its a very small mirror, no, I don't understand either), then we go back outside to Inuyasha and Kagura, where we get a flashback of how that fight is going. Then Miorku recaps Kanna's powers (she can reflect attacks), then Inu uses the wind scar on Kagura but Kanna reflects it back. Inuyasha is badly injured. Naraku shows up to taunt them some, and show off his enormous jewel shard. Everyone recogizies it as Kikyo's shard we get a flashback of her taking it from Kagome. Naraku gloats some more about Kikyo giving him the shard to kill Inuyasha. Kagome shoots the mirror with a sacred arrow and breaks it (apparently the arrows are soul powered, who knew), freeing all the trapped souls. The three bad guys take off. Cut to next day, Miroku leaves a Dear Jane letter for the girl, Shippo explains that Inuyasha is badly injured and Naraku has Kikyo's jewel shard. Then Inuyasha recaps that he is badly injured and Naraku has Kikyo's jewel shard. Then the next episode preview warns us that Inuyasha is badly injured, Naraku has Kikyo's jewel shard, and Tetsuiga is going to break.

You only missed about five minutes of actual new plot.

I always liked seeing Inuyasha and company being beaten in this episode. It took them down a peg or two, which I felt was needed.

I'll give episode 42 a 90%. Anyway, tonight is a fun episode, with us seeing another side of Inuyasha.
I like "Itazurana Kiss", granted it is out of place but you can't exactly say Kenshin's OP (well the first 2, at least) exactly fit the mood of the show.
Any Idea on when those show up? The new ED should be soon, since it's been about 20 episodes for "Itazurana Kiss" and the new OP should be soon as well, since already been about 30 episodes for "Grip".

I might as well post my OP/ED opinions as well....
"Change the World": Great song but the visuals leave something to be desired. It has far too much Inuyasha.
"I Am": Currently my favorite (Grip, came very close to taking this title) It's got all the major players and the song is super sugary.
"Owarinai Yume": Pretty good song and the visuals were great.
"Grip": Great song and the Shichinintai. I'd like this one more if Kagura and Kanna were in it, if not for a brief second.
"My Will": Great song and shots of the female characters, although I found rather ironic that Sango was in it, considering she doesn't debut in the anime until 4 episodes after it's replaced.
"Fukai Mori": Great song and a lot of Sesshomaru and a little foreshadowing.
"Dearest": I always liked the animation for "Dearest" much more than the actual song. "Dearest" is an okay song, but it's just too slow for my tastes.
"Every Hear, Minna no Kimochi": I never really liked this one, the song is okay so is the accompanying animation, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. That and it was the ED for too long.
"Shinjutsu no Uta": The song was pretty good, and so was the animation.
"Itazurana Kiss": Good song and so-so visuals.

At the moment, they're only tentatively scheduled for September or October. I'm going to guess they'll start around episode 128 or 129.

Regarding the new ending "Dearest," I actually liked it since I prefer listening to slow songs. I thought the song's mood was really sweet and the visuals were pretty. :) "Shinjitus no Uta" is unique for its Oriental background music that you first hear in its opening.

I was happy to know that Kikyo would be back into the picture. I still could not figure out her true intentions and feelings towards Inuyasha and Naraku. :anime:

Overall, these past two episodes were filled with great and smooth action despite some unnecessary flashbacks. I was abit horrified when I saw Inuyasha's Wind Scar attack reflected back to him after it bounced off Kanna's mirror. It was nice to see Kagome step up to protect him. :)

Kikyo- World's dumbest plot device. If I was the half-demon, I would have sunk my blade into her a long time ago. Supposedly, she's still alive even in the new Japanese episodes. How the slut from beyond the grave survives is going to be intresting to see.

Naraku- Now he's got nearly godlike powers, able to clone himself, create women servants, among other things. The reason he hasn't fought Inu-Yasha and company is for the entertainment value. He could crush them all like ants if he wanted to.

Great episode. I really used to like Kikyo a lot when she was a good guy, but now she is just freaky and weird and Inuyasha needs to get over her. Inuyasha is a good person though and he is trying to help her but like she said nothing can be done.

I think he likes her so much now is because he did like her so much when she was alive. She was pretty much the only person that accepted him for him, except for his mother and father. He didn't fit in with humans or demons. Plus the fact that she died to be with him, as the story is said she could have used the jewel to wished her life back, but instead chose to be dead with Inu-Yasha.

When Kikyou died, she went to the afterlife, while Inuyasha's soul was still bound to the tree all alone. She had to have known this at the time, so she didn't die to be with him at all, did she?

*takes in breath*
The Tetsusaiga seals away Inu Yasha's full youkai (demon) blood, and when it is broken then it no longer restrains him. Thus, whenever Inu Yasha gets in a life threatening situation his full youkai blood kicks in, turning him into one badass youkai who can ahnialate anything. He's very violent in his full youkai form and isn't himself. His insticnts are very basic (kill, kill kill, eat, kill, kill...) so it's a bit of a problem.

Also, my avatar is of a chibi-esque full youkai Inu Yasha.

Goshinki (the purple monster you'll see tonight) breaks Tetsusaiga with his teeth.

And.. Another late review/reply as usual, for me.

My sound was out for the first 1/3 or so of the episode- Although, all I really missed was some flashbacks. (Miroku's 'speech' to Koharu was repeated later in the episode.)

Thoughts-
It was an okay episode.. I liked Moneca Stori's voice acting during the flashback in the middle of the episode (around the time she went to Inuyasha after shooting the arrow.) She sounded tired, which she ought to be. (Hey, she had her soul sucked out. :p )

*Wonders if it's possible for Kanna to let souls out individually* If so, couldn't she have released the villagers souls, and kept Kagome's? Really, she had an entire village of souls in her mirror- Without all of the village souls, she could've most likely taken all of Kagome's, rather than some of it (or, taken it all inside the mirror, so none of the soul was outside the mirror, allowing Kagome to move, shoot the arrow, and mess up Naraku's plan- unless he didn't want to kill them then, which is possible.) This is just speculation, though. ;)

It's probably a good thing that Inuyasha hadn't had time to heal (at least, this was implied) - In this case, if his arm had had time to heal, he would've unleashed the Wind Scar at full strength, and with it reflecting back, it could've killed him.

Why does Inuyasha still have feelings for Kikyo?
It's possible that Inuyasha feels guilt over letting her die- He finally finds one person, who is willing to accept him (after he becomes human, and uses the Shikon No Tama, relieving her of her burdens), and, she dies, soon after. He may feel guilt, that even after knowing the truth, for not trusting her- If he kept on trusting her, even after she'd shot at him, he wouldn't have stolen the Shikon No Tama, and would have may be of been able to convince Kikyo to not hate him, and not die with that hatred and bitterness. (It's sort of hard to do that, when you're caught red-handed like Inuyasha was, although he didn't get a chance to really explain himself..) He may also feel guilty/confused often for not being able to protect her- that one person close to him at that time (although, this would've happen after he'd heard she'd died, and they were duped, I'd think.). (Maybe) He feels letting her take him/kill him, will be his retribution for letting her die..

Although, he has a reason for going and getting the Jewel- A person he trusts shoots at him, and says other nasty things- He's angry/hurt. The very least, he can get something out of this 'betrayal'.

Another reason why he could still love/have feelings for her, is that he might not fully realize that she's not the old Kikyo- Full of love and kindess. He comments on her scent, on one episode, but I'm not sure if he notes on the differences between the alive Kikyo, and the current undead one. He might love the undead Kikyo, for what she used to be.

Naraku- The reason he hasn't fought Inu-Yasha and company is for the entertainment value. He could crush them all like ants if he wanted to.
Yeah, although he may be leaving them alive for some reason (like this one)-
To 'somehow' taint the Shikon Jewel/Shards. This is somewhat mentioned in another episode, I think.. In a future episode, which is why it's mentioned in spoilers- It's also mentioned in the earlier episode(regarding Kikyo's death), I think. Better safe than sorry, though.
That didn't have much to do with your actual statement, did it? Heh.. Just wanted to post my thoughts.

Dearest is okay. Forgetable ending..
Grade- B.

Ending Inuyasha with "Itazurana Kiss" is like opening Cowboy Bebop with "Moonlight Densetsu" (the Sailor Moon opening). It isn't a bad song in and of itself, it just... doesn't work.

Probably the only thing more horrid-sounding is Jaken singing a messed-up version of "Grip!". But... that was supposed to be stupid, so it's okay.

Jaken: "~Airon chirabaru nanatsu no bukiii...~"
Sesshoumaru: "Oi..."
Jaken: "~Sorezore ni ima omori gohan...~"
Sesshoumaru: "Jaken!"
Jaken: "~Uchikudakarete daaakake--~"

The Short Arrival Of Full Demon Inuyasha in the "Tetsusaiga Breaks" Inuyasha Episode Review.

Well let's see what we got here. Another Kikyo apperance, where she draws out Inuyasha to (sorta) tell him of her plans, and then you have the attack of Goshinki, a mind reading fast and powerful demon who breaks Tetsusaiga only to incure the wrath of the full demon Inuyasha, who tears him apart with his bare claws in a fairly impressive battle. Luckily, a sit command from Kagome brings Inuyasha back to normal and we end the episode. Based on this new development and from the preview of the next episode, it looks like real good times for Inuyasha, even better then this episode. Favorite moment: Goshinki going over what everyone's weakness is and ignoring Shippo (for good reason. What has he done lately to help the plot? Nothing). I give this episode an A-.

Tonight's episode just...kicked...ASS!

There were no annoying flashbacks in this episode, which already makes it a cut above the other average episodes. But rather than plodding the plot out with useless stuff, they cut right to the chase. Inuyasha and company fight another Naraku fragment (can't remember his name because his voice wasn't smooth), and the demon turns out to be a mind-reader. Not only does he neutralize everyone's attacks, he also bites the Tetsusaiga into bits and cuts Inuyasha into pieces.

But wait...who's that with the bloodshot eyes? It's Inuyasha, now with his demon blood overpowering him! Man, that guy is one bad ass mother-shut yo mouth! He takes down the demon like it was nothing, which just ruled in all of its carnage-filled glory.

And the dub...holy crap, everyone was spot on tonight, especially Richard Cox. I wondered how he would voice his more demon side, and he proved he was the right choice for the role. Demon-Inuyasha was just so sinister and chilling that I wanted to wet myself. Definitely terrific performances by everyone in tonight's episode. And as for the guy who did the mind-reading demon...did you guys know he also played Char?

Tonight's episode just reaffirms my love for this series. This is how the entire series should be done: no flashbacks, no annoying padding, just get right to the chase.

This was an episode that is a lead in to some serious issues that Inuyasha and crew will soon have to face. Especially good ol' Dog Crap.

Goshinki, though in the end was nothing more than a monster of the day, has caused the crew serious damage. Forcing Inuyasha to transform...bad thing, especially considering he LIKES killing in that form. But it does have a flaw. We'll cross that bridge later though.

Kinda of a cop out on the ending with Kagome "sitting" Inuyasha and breaking his full youkai state, but it was touching, the only time you'll ever hear her say that phrase from the heart...at least the loving side anyway.

Tomorrow night = more insurmountable danger. These guys need a vacation.

This near and possibly full demon Inuyasha makes for and even more cooler yet and likely villain than the current character Naraku. Should Inuyasha still want to utilize the Shikon Jewel to remove his own humanity to become an full demon, that which has taken place today I feel would likely resemble the changed Inuyasha once enhanced by the the Shikon Jewel. Though I wonder due to todays act if fear would now set in within Inuyasha,.. that is if he fears forever remaining berserk.

Tetsusaiga. A sword that Sesshomaru hammered on with a dragon's claw, deflected countless wind attacks from Kagura, a sword that slayed hundreds of demons... snaps in two like a twig. That reincarnation of Naraku has some frigging nasty teeth.

I wonder what happened to Inuyasha to bring out that Full Demon form. He looked terrifying in that form and he is ****** powerful! Awesome!

Eh? I believe this is the first time it broke in two. Tetsusaiga's sheath nearly broke during that fight with the Thunder Brothers. But Inuyasha had some wasps or some kind of bug to fix it up.

Man, now the Inuyasha crew is nearly wiped out. Unless Kagome wants to depend on Kilala and Shippo to help her fend off any attackers. Shippo... BAHAHAAHA.

When she first came back all she wanted to do was kill Inuyasha, since she was still under the impression that he betrayed her. But she did find out the truth and now realizes that Naraku set her up. She still comes off as a tweener as far as being good or evil is concerned sometimes, but I think its more because she is somewhat of a loner. As far as Kagome is concerned...Kikyo is for the most part is totally indifferent to her..and probably wouldn't bat an eyelash is she got eaten by a demon. But there is some conflict within her heart given that she was a priestess and is now forced to subsist on souls to stay "alive"

But then again, I'd be crabby too, if I awoke from the peaceful slumber of death to find out some witch had revived me in some sketchy looking tub and I was made from bones and dirt, AND had a little dash of my former lovers new squeeze for flavor.

Even in his full demon form, Inuyasha is no match for Sesshomaru. The problem is he is just too wild, no tactics or thought behind his attacks. He's pretty much mindless, as Goshinki alluded to before getting shredded. Though he seemed lucid while chatting, he is actually quite crazy in that form. And as we have seen before and will again Sesshomaru is a cerebral fighter. Brute force can't stop him, and unfortunately thats all Inuyasha is in his transformed state.

Inuyasha broke his arm fighting Koga, and who the hell knows what broke when Sango got struck by her own boomerang. Maybe a better wording would've been that both had limbs that couldn't function that well...or something.

Kagura's Dance & Kanna's Mirror: I liek htis episode. It combines just the right amounts of action & character development & other stuff. I'm too lazy to go into more detail :P

The Wind Scar Fails:I didn't like this one that much, but Kanna continued to have a voice that really fit her.

Tetsuaiga Breaks:I have mixed feelsings about this one. It was interesting to see signs that Inuyasha was liking Kikyo a bit less, and the concept of a mind-reading demon is interesting, but easily abused. Inuyasha in full-demon(or at least close to it) form was cool as he got a major power boost & we got to "see" him noting how being full-demon affect him. His face was ugly as ****, though.

Kikyo still sucks, but I think that's the point. We're supposed to hate her. And Full-Demon Inuyasha rocked. Now we get everyones favorite character though, Black-Haired Inuyasha.(Oh, and Sesshomaru will be there too) I'm guessing Inuyasha will eventually take Tetsuaiga back to Totousai to be fixed. And you know Inuyasha and gang have been to a lot of villages when you start recognizing the villagers. Those villagers looked like the ones the Wolves killed.

If everyone hates Kikyo so much, why is she still alive, even in the new Japanese episodes?! She's worse than Prince Lotor, if that's possible. I'm going to enjoy the episode where she finally dies more than all the Mooninite episodes of ATHF on the planet.

I think The_Dominion was kidding, Scirel..

So.. "Tetsusaiga Breaks". Good Episode. Goshinki died quickly enough, eh? And, Richard Cox did a good job playing 'Evil' Inuyasha. (Although, I think he let his voice revert back to 'normal' during an attack. Or I misheard..) I liked the little scene where Kagome pulls on Inuyasha's locks, and then apologizes. Notice how Inuyasha seemed to be doing better (he wasn't limping as much) after he went and saw Kikyo? He even fell down a hill to get to her.. :p I guess the top of Inuyasha's fire robe/coat hasn't been 'repaired' yet (or however else he gets a new one)- He wasn't wearing it this episode.

Random Note- When Miroku hit Inuyasha, he hit him hard enough to draw blood. Hey, what better way to help someone heal, than to give 'im another injury? :p Episode Grade- A.

I don't know if I missed something or they haven't explained it, but exactly why is Kikyo like she is now? Does it have something to do with how she was resurrected, or is she just so pissed that she let it take her over?
I used to have a link to a thread which had an explanation for why she still hates Inuyasha. Unfortunately, it was on an EZBoard, and is now gone.

The theory (in that thread) was that when a person dies, that their soul stops at that one point. Kikyo died right after being betrayed, and still felt bitterness and hatred towards Inuyasha. So, when she was revived, and 'Kagome's' soul went into her body, she basically woke up right after she died- so she still hated Inuyasha. Since the soul is stopped at that one point, then she couldn't really change her feelings toward him (although, she has managed to keep herself from killing him, and may have managed to slowly change some of that bitterness for Inuyasha toward Naraku..). I think this was somewhat mentioned in one episode where the monk tried to 'save her' (When it was brought to Inuyasha and company that she was getting the dead girls souls)- The monk said the dead live in a 'stopped' world, and that the living world was always changing.

My theory is that, (following anime cannon- not quite sure if it's in the manga or not..) when Kikyo was revived, she still hated Inuyasha (Mentioned that already..). Urasue mentioned that her hatred of Inuyasha was the only thing that kept her going, after Kagome's soul went back to Kagome. So, if she manages to completely stop hating Inuyasha, her body may just stop functioning- It won't have anything to 'run' on, so to speak. (Well, besides the random souls she gets, anyway.. Although, she seems to be able to go without souls for some time..)

You can sort of combine the theories, if you want. :p They're combinable, I think.

Hmm.. And, that's that, I suppose..

Tonight's episode wasn't as good as last night's episode, but it didn't have any annoying flashbacks, so that cancels them out.

Inuyasha is gazing longingly at his broken Tetsusaiga when, lo and behold, Totosai comes along to fix it...but it'll take three days. In the meantime, Sesshoumaru takes the head of Goshinki and brings it to Kaijinbo to make a sword out of it, the bugger. Then Inuyasha transforms into a human because of the new moon...which, of course, means "someone attack him!" So Kaijinbo does, but luckily Totosai has the repaired Tetsusaiga...which is now heavy as hell! And this is where we leave off with yet another cliffhanger. No flashbacks, as mentioned, and it was nicely paced, but it lacked the action it needed to kick it up a notch.

Jaken getting sliced in two was uplifting, though.

New voice! Brenna O Brian as Rin! She sounds fine to me. 'nuff said. Next!

Highlights include: Inuyasha getting his tooth pulled, Jaken getting sliced (I knew the "pull yourself together" joke was coming!), and Sesshoumaru being Sesshouarmu, ie. a silent bad ass.

B+

Dude, dub Rin is cute! Wonderful! She definitely pulled her character off well. It almost doesn't even sound like the same person voicing her as back in episode 35, but considering all she did then was make random sounds, it's kinda hard to tell. But she's got that hyper cuteness down pat!

And, man, pretty much the entire cast did unusually well tonight. Did they change voice directors, or are they taking fan advice to heart? Either way, I'm liking the direction this is going.

And just when you think things might be okay...Sessshomaru gets the bright idea to have Kaijinbo make him a sword out of the fangs of a demon who incidentally broke Tetsaiga. So what happens? More drama than final cut day for a Broadway tryout, with all the action of a soccer match played by one legged blind men.

The repaired Tetsaiga is a friggin anvil but surely there is some value to Inuyasha needing to wield it with all his previous skill. And who thought IY and kagome were going to kiss after his admission of overwhelming human feelings in his human form and then his second favorite femme appears stage right. Not me, cause I know better...but some of you did! :)

Kind of a throw away episode considering what happens next, but seeing Rin again was nice. And Kaijinbo isnt done yet either. But we can all see where he is headed.

I wanna know what's with Inuyasha taking crap from everyone while in human form. They all tell him he's in no condition to fight, but Miroku and Sango are just as human as he is, and tonight's episode I'm assuming Sango is still supposed to be hurt. He may not have his "super powers," claws, fangs, or be able to transform his sword, but I'd think he can still fight just as well as he always could, so human Inuyasha isn't nearly as useless as Kagome or Shippo.

LOL, I thought Totosai would scream and yell at Inuyasha when he saw the broken Tetsusaiga. But instead he was crying his eyes out. :D

Today's episode we see Full Human Inuyasha once again. I found that scene when Inuyasha found out that the blabber mouth Shippo told Miroku about his secret to be pretty funny. Wow Rin makes a reappearance and she talks!! Cool.

I wonder if Sesshomaru still hates Tenseiga. It is pretty useful as it allowed him to revive Goshinki's head and even allowed Jaken to live once more. It is odd that he can resurrect someone who was sliced in half though.

Along with no fangs, claws, able to use his own blood as a cool weapon, he did not have Tetsusaiga when Kaijinbo made his appearance. I doubt that Miroku or Sango wanted Inuyasha to risk his life by letting him pound the freak with his fists, so they stepped in. Also Inuyasha is not the type to ask for help. He is too stubborn. By giving him a reason why he shouldn't fight, this allows Miroku and Sango to fight Kaijinbo for him.

...Rin starts talking with no explanation whatsoever as to how and why?
...

I haven't seen the rest of the series other than what appeared on Adult Swim. So here are my thoughts about this.

Two things could have happened to Rin to allow her to speak: Either, when Sesshomaru used Tenseiga to resurrect her, it healed the wounds that prevented her from speaking. Or, Originally Rin had been traumatized by the death of her family. When she lived at that village, they treated her like trash. Heck, more like an outsider as she had a small little shack placed near a riverbank. There was no reason why she would want to speak again. By spending time with Sesshomaru, the trama she had gone though subsided and this allowed her to speak once more.

Next episode, Sesshomaru wielding that evil sword. Wow that should be an awesome fight.

I was under the impression that Kikyo still liked Inu Yasha. When she first woke up, she was in that kind of dazed state, but now she thinks clearly. I know I saw an episode implying that and after looking it up I found it was episode 33, "Kikyo, Captured by Naraku." At the end of the episode, Kikyo is talking to herself about Inu Yasha and Naraku. I think she said something like she was going to hand over all of the shards to Naraku, then kill him when he was at his highest power, for full revenge, because she hates him for what he did to her and Inu Yasha. And the end of that she says something like "I'm finally free. Free to hate, free to love." Notice in the last episode she spoke very kindly to Inu Yasha. The reason why she doesn't join up with Inu Yasha is because she doesn't want Naraku to know her true purpose.

Uhh... I thought they did. I remember Jaken giving the explanation, but either I missed it, they cut it, or it really was never in the anime. ::checks manga:: Yeah, in the manga version of the scene where Rin talks, Jaken comments to himself that she just won't shut up, and that she couldn't talk before Tenseiga revived her, kind of implying that it was Tenseiga that healed her muteness.

It's because of the nature of the fang used to repair Tetsaiga. Inuyasha's fang unlike his fathers is not that of a full demon, therefore in a way the sword is not as "pure" (I guess), not to mention as light.

My early prediction is that they call it the "Dragon Twister" as that's the name they use for the Bakuryuuha in the PS1 fighting game. But that's even worse than "Wind Scar" IMO.

The geek in me couldn't help it, so for those that can't wait until Monday night...
One of the points brought up tonight was that Tetsusaiga was protecting Inuyasha, i.e. sealing his demon blood. His father was protecting him through his fang.

But now that Totosai fixed it using INUYASHA'S fang, he doesn't have his dad's protection on the sword anymore...he's gotta protect himself, which is much harder. The heavy sword represents this.

But once Inuyasha does learn to handle it himself, then he'll really master the sword and...well, you've gotta see it for yourself, but it IS most definitely worth it. :)

Rin, is NOT someone the IY gang becomes aware of for a long time. Though they are understandibly weirded out by her as well. But truth be "typed" Sesshy has a soft spot for Rin, as she does for him. Jaken is her nanny, so his opinion doesn't matter

And then everyone hugged ;)

I wonder why Goshinki was so arrogant about Inu-yasha beng a half demon, when he's an offshoot of a guy who's a human amalgomated with a lot of crappy lower class demons. So he'd be far from a pure demon.

As for Inu-yasha just now turning human again, that's an error on the anime's part. In the manga there was a story right before Sango was introduced about how Inu-Yasha turned human and had to fight a guy named the Peach Man. In it, Kagome first learned how to shoot holy arrows. And Miroku witnessed Inuyasha's change, so that's how he knew about it.

1. Rin turned from a quiet child to an obnoxious kid! :p
Kinda reminds of the "terrible two's" - y'know, when babies turn from quiet little 1-yr olds (that is, other than crying  ) to 2-yr old monsters who wouldn't stop talking and says whatever comes to mind. :D

2. Jaken's half (not just his torso, one of his arms was cut too) being revived was just too silly for words. :D

3. Inuyasha's Tetsaiga was like turning from a sword of light titanium (or graphite, if you like) to a sword of heavy steel. Maybe he should now take lessons from Sanosuke and his Zanbatou. :D

That story will appear on in the series (and from what I read about it, Sango and Kirara will be absent from it). I'm guessing the reason why this story hasn't happened in the anime yet (American wise) is because the people behind the anime wanted to Sango into the picture (especially when you consider that she appers in the first ED even though she doesn't appear in any of the episodes that contain that ED). The same could possibly be said for holding back the Noh mask episode until after Shippo enters the picture (and considering how I feel that Shippo's introduction was when the series finally became interesting, that was probably a good move IMO).

Plus Bone Boomerang sounds too much like a certain attack from Pokemon.

Actually, I first thought her attack would be called "Bonemerang", but then I was like..."Oh. That's a Pokemon attack. Never mind."

Hiraikotsu is fine with me, but it screws up the continuity of attack names. That's ok though, it's worth it. By the way, Do we ever see her get it fixed after it broke? I don't remember any mention of that but she definitely used it again afterwards.

So, Sango and Miroku have been travelling with Inuyasha for less that a month?! In Sango's case, I'd say it's only about two weeks. I figured there had been several new moons with Miroku and Sango, but we didn't see them cause they were just normal.

Heheh. :D

About Rin. It appeared to me that she was just playing when she screamed as Sesshomaru picked up the head of Goshiki. When Rin and Jaken first arrived at the scene, Rin was in amazement at the dead demon. Also when she was screaming, she looked happy (?).

Hmm, YUP. Maybe Inuyasha and co should swap Shippo with Rin? :D

And there's the image. Thanks. XD

Actually, you're probably right about Rin - I was so jarred from hearing her hyper-speak after she'd been a complete mute before... Perhaps I just need to get a feel for her personality a bit more. Heck, she's already had a rather turbulent life so far - I wouldn't be surprised if she's a little... Off. o_-

My theory on that is just that the first director, Masashi Ikeda, wanted to speed things up for the arrival of Sango so he eliminated the Peach Man arc and he probably never planned on showing it. Then when the new director, Yasunao Aoki, took over the anime was catching up with the manga so the need for filler arose so he decided that it would be a good time to animate/air the Peach Man story. So he just had Sango leave for a reason that's a mini-spoiler and had the adventure with the 4 characters that were originally in it.

Don't worry, you'll be seeing some cute interaction between those two on Monday. As for later...
Concerning the episodes that'll show up on AS during this run, they'll be back for episodes 51 and 52, although they don't particularly do much then. As for stuff beyond that, Rin-heavy episodes are 79-81, 96, and 115-116.

The Moon Brings The Return of Human Inuyasha along with the "Kaijinbo's Evil Sword" Inuyasha Episode Review.

With as many important returning characters in today's episode (Sesshomaru, Jaken, Rin, Totusai, Myoga, Human Inuyasha) it's a blessing that there were very little flashbacks, and lots more to the story. Hmmm, intresting turn in that Goshinki's spirit now haunts the Toukijin forged by Kaijinbo, and takes control of the swordsmen in order to hunt down Inuyasha. Favorite parts: Miroku telling Sango about Human Inuyasha (who heard it from Shippo), Miroku using one of his scrolls to try and stop Kaijinbo, and Totusai apperaing out of nowhere to give Inuyasha back his Tetusaiga. I give this episode an A.

Uhh.. Yeah, I guess. :o At least it was a minor one. I was more agreeing with the "No Kikyo" part being a good thing anyway. I can only take so much of her at a time.

I don't know. Because "Hiraikotsu" just sounds cool when you say it? :p

Personally, I just want Kikyo dead.

Hiraikotsu sounds cool, but when dealing with a dub audience, it helps for them to be able to pronounce the word.

It looks like they don't translate the names of the weapons themselves, almost as if they were characters too. But they always seem to translate attack names. I wonder why they decided that distinction was important.

Once again, another great week for InuYasha. Question, though: How exactly should the series be divided? I originally thought that every episode starting with "The Man Who Fell In Love With Kagome!" should count as a second season, but now I go along with the ending themes, meaning that with this past Tuesday came the beginning of the third season. But since the Japanese do not follow the Western standard of "television seasons" this will probably just stay an UnSoLvEd MyStErY. *Unsolved Mysteries theme plays in the background*

About "Hiraikotsu!" being fun to yell: So is "KAZE NO KIZU!" :p

Anyway... I was wondering. Can anyone tell me when non-manga filler starts? For a continuing anime based on a popular, on-going manga, it's been oddly absent, and the overall production seems to go completely against the concept of REALLY stretching things out that I've seen for some other manga-based-anime. So I was wondering when we could expect it, that's all. :p

The first completely original episode is episode 59, so we won't be seeing any filler even during this run. The manga had already been running for at least a year before the anime started, so the anime writers had a lot to work with in the beginning, thus the lack of filler (heck, they even actually skipped over some small (yet kind of important) stuff here and there). But, yeah, once we get to episode 59... hooo, filler galore, with plot episodes sprinkled about in chunks of 1-3 episodes apiece.

That is, until we get to the Shichinintai arc, which begins in episode 102. Episodes 102-126 are all at least partially manga-based. The anime writers decided to do the smart thing and make episodes that were half plot, half filler, in order to stay far enough behind the manga, yet not give us weeks upon weeks of completely pointless episodes.

So, yeah, the filler is still a ways away from being shown on American TV, but when it hits... man, it hits hard.

Well, there are filler episodes dabbled here and there, but there are three groups I would like to point out that are completely filler:

1) There are some episodes added onto the Tsubaki arc, spanning episode 60-64, fillers being 62, 63, and 64.

2) There's a three episode cat demon arc tagged along with 2 more filler episodes at the end. Episodes are 75-79.

3) Then, after those, there is the ****ing motherload of filler episodes going from 89 to 101, 11 episodes.

Now, before everyone grabs their pitchforks and light Inu Yasha effigies ablaze, take two points into consideration:

First of all, filler episode != bad episode. Just because it wasn't written in stone and manga does mean it is completely worthless and doesn't deserve your time. Filler episodes also act and strengthing your knowledge of a character and progressing their development. Also, in my opinions, the funniest parts of the entire series are in some of the filler episodes.

And secondly, after scanning through the episodes I find 26 that are purely in the anime and could be considered "filler". Out of 125 aired episodes so far, that's a very good ratio.

EDIT: And once again, I have to compete with Patches and arxane on answering questions and whatnot. But, she does make a good point...the Shichinintai arc r0xx0rz!

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I always see a lot of fans complaining about the dreaded filler run (89-101) leading up to the Shinchinintai stuff. But personally, three of my favorite Inu-episodes come from this little patch, those being ep 89, 90, and...

Well, she sure makes a note of bringing modern bandages and antiseptic and dishing them out to everyone, I don't see why not. Also, don't forget the Midol. I hope she brings toilet paper for everyone!

But I'm pretty sure this is another one of those instances where we should remember Rumiko Takahashi's own words: "If I don't think about it, neither should you." :anime:

As for hilarious fillers, my favorites are episodes 68 - where Shippo gets the challenge from the third Thunder sibling, 72 - Totosai cons Inuyasha into giving him a bath and Inuyasha takes care of a sick kitten demon, and 89 - Inuyasha and Hojo unknowingly compete in taking care of a sick Kagome. They're great to just sit and laugh at after a hard day, aren't they?

Later post than usual.. Hn.

So, Toutousai's cow's name is Momo. Mo-o-Mo-o. (End Lame Joke)
And, Tokijin cuts Hiraikotsu in half. Pretty sharp sword..
Rin was kawaii. (She seemed fine with the decapitated Goshinki until Sesshomaru picked his head up. :p)

Grade- A.

Ok, first we have Naraku's jewel shard nearly double in size...?
I'm assuming that you were serious about asking the first question, Botman. :p Kikyo gave Naraku the (big) Jewel Shard that she stole from Kagome- which is why it got so much bigger. (Kikyo stole the Jewel Shard from Kagome in 'Kikyo, Captured by Naraku', and Naraku talked about Kikyo giving the Jewel Shard to him in 'The Wind Scar Fails')

I think she still likes him too. :p I just think that she's still somewhat bitter towards him as well. She seems to still want to take him with her to the afterlife/when she dies/etc, and even when Inuyasha came to find her when he was injured (Wednesday's episode, I think), she didn't exactly jump down, and help him with his injuries.. (Although, maybe she thought he wasn't too badly hurt, or he wouldn't have came and seen her. Kagura was in the area, so that might've been a reason, as well) In my opinion, she seems to act pretty coldly towards Inuyasha in general- although, I can't really think of any specific circumstances at the moment. Speaking of Kikyo/Inuyasha relationship stuff, there's a good/alternate explanation of some of Kikyo's motivations for taking Inuyasha with her here (http://www.merquise.net/kikyou/backtohell.html). It's from a Kikyo shrine..

She has been acting coldly to him; what I meant about Wednesday's episode was that she acted nice for someone who supposedly hates Inu Yasha. If she wanted to kill him I think she would have at least been a little meaner. I figured the reason why she didn't help him was because she knew he was strong enough to heal himself, and because she doesn't want him to know about her plan.

I think she's acting the way she is toward Inu Yasha because all she is focused on at this point is revenge on Naraku for what he did to her and Inu Yasha. She doesn't want any other feelings to get in her way, and doesn't want anyone else to know about it, because anyone who knows about her plans--good and bad guys--would try to stop her and get in her way.
