I just saw "Robot Jones" for the first time today and I was so thrilled at all the spiffy seventies and eighties undertones! For one thing, the animation was so "Schoolhouse Rock". But then there were other things, like the principal's coffee cup said "I Don't Like Mondays", which is a Boomtown Rats song and some of the schoolkids were wearing the red fire hydrant hats like Devo! What else have you guys picked up? :moon2:

The occasions where the colors on the screen become rather bright or there are color effects in the background and the fact that the music sounds like a old eight-bit game soundtrack at times really gives it an 80s feel too. It reminds me of music videos form the early 1980s that they show on VH1 Classic. And the Pacman shirt too, don't forget that!

Ooh! I love the pacman shirt! And did you notice the anarchy symbol scrawled on the desk at the end of the episode "Politics"?

Don't forget the Wonder Cube. That was a big hit in the 80s. :D

Actually, I never noticed that. Hmm.
And isn't the Wonder Cube supposed to be called the Rubik's Cube?

Not if they don't wanna get sued.
Anyway, if the Menudo reference didn't give it away, the fact that they use 5 1/4 floppies in "Sickness" should.

Good point. I would not want to get sued either.
Then again, I am surprised to see that rock legend Paul Westerberg has not said anything about the show. He has the same last name as Shannon does. (again, another 80s reference)

No, only Spike Lee is that sensitive about his name. (-:
Seriously, though, What Ever Happened to Robot Jones? is a pretty obscure show even by basic cable standards. I wouldn't be surprised if Westerberg had never heard of the show.
And even if he had, if the makers of a small billyclub meant for personal defense can dub it the "Tanya Tapper" without getting sued, I doubt Robot Jones has anything to worry about. (-:
