However, Afro Beck rocks.

This episode was different...almost completely devoid of that Big O style, and being more anime-ish and cartoony in feel. On top of that, there's seems to be a loophole with the hole foreigner deal that parts of season one touched upon. I don't know if I like that...
Still this episode has some great moments...Roger's clone, all the scenes with Dorothy, Afro Beck, Lightning Rod, and Roger taking care of business really, really fast.

The Title Is The Biggest Irony in the The Big O "The Greatest Villian" Episode Review.
This has to be the funniest episode yet of Big O. Beck is the series fun villian, having the crazy psyoctic edge of the Joker, but also being in part a patehtic loser, never being taken as serious as any other Big O Villian. Beck had a lot of good scenes in this episode: the plan on using lightning to shut down the prison's security system, kidnapping Roger and building that Head Robot that nearly drove the Megadus to the sea, trying to use that magnet on Dorothy, whining that no one's listen to him, and the Transformers/Power Rangers robot ripoff. And only Dorothy was second to his antics: Playing the piano in the beginning (yet again), talking to Norman and later talking to Beck and becoming a tempoary negoiator, going to Beck's hideout and throwing away his henchman and then using her headbow to trap Beck to the magnet, and then getting her favor from Roger. And a lot of humor aimed at Japan. Very nice. I give this episode an A+.

LoL, that was hilarious. As I mentioned when the series re-ran on AS last month, I don't particularly like Beck although this was a pretty good episode :P Quite funny to see how Roger handled Beck's robot, blowing it up right away just like expected after how quickly he handled him last time. And it was cool to see an Ideon-like robot, coming out of 3 transformed trucks/cars. Dunno if it was intentional or just a coincidence, but they're both Sunrise shows so you never know...

I love the bizarre twists Big-O takes when Beck's around. I rember his whacky robot in Beck Comes Back (from 2 years ago, I missed the AS re-run) but his Beck-atron (for lack of a cooler sounding spoof name) took the cake and ate it too.
Dorothy was in the top of her game, I hope I wasn't the only one humming the "wicked witch" theme while she tore the street up on her bike. Her negotiation skills have "improved" but her "comedy" needs help, lots of it. Nice to see Roger squirm when the subject was brought up tho. One wonders, since Beck seemed to think that Human-Android love can be...ahem... physical, would Dorothy even indulge in such actions, she's too ....stiff and lifeless to be anything more than a physical person to love for her personality (and she'd pin ol Smith to the floor :p )

I got a Raiders feeling too. It fits perfectly.
I was already rolling in laughter from the Superrobot combiner at the time.
And it may be FLCL's influence to my thinking, but I got a South Park impression from the Japanese people in this episode.
In all of Beck's previous episodes, there was a hint of the standard seriousness inherent in the rest of the episodes. This one was full-on Beckish silliness.
Of course, it wouldn't be Big O without something advancing the plot, so there's the 'memory' that Beck got, the phrase that Alex Rosewater used to describe Roger.

Really funny episode. Glad Beck is back. He is my favorite Big O villain.
really great scenes with Dorothy and Norman. interesting Roger got kidnapped. I like Beck cause he is just wacky and off the wall type of person. I liked the Scene with Dorothy expressing she came to rescue the man she known for a long time and the man that she loves. I was shocked and happy finally Dorothy admitting her feelings for Roger, but rogers reaction was priceless and she said she was just joking. I was kinda heart broken then. I was kinda hoping they would get together they known each other for a long time. I mean it happened in Kikaider but I know that was kinda different. but Dorothy waking roger up at the start of the episode was good for a laugh and then roger tied the piano up with rope so she couldnt play no more. and at the end she wanted him to undo the rope I was suprised she didnt break the rope herself since she is strong. the power rangers ripoff was hillarious.bout time someone did that while the good guy was showing off all the fancy stuff and roger just blasted becks megadeus with the arm cannon thing.

Beck fans take note: as I suspected from his 'fro-less state, the scene featuring Beck in the season two promos wasn't in this episode. Which means he'll be "coming back" for a least one more go at trying to out-do Roger before the show's over. ;)
That was one of the best filler episodes I've ever seen. I was actually hoping that Roger would have fired a few seconds earlier, possibly during the rotating sword part. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of Angel. Otherwise, it was great.

Good point. And since there's very few episodes left before (what appears to be) the finale kicks in, you could very well be right...
I'm surprised not many people have commented on Dorothy's actions when Beck activated the magnet. I loved that scene! Dorothy gets stuck by a giant magnet way too often in Big O, and gets her memory taken over by a CD. Good to see she's planned well ahead. I loved the "safety first" cross on her memory CD. That was just awesome.
I would have kinda liked to see Big O use its own dancing-attack (aka the ChromeBuster) against the giant robot, but Big O's new machine-gun arm works too.
I was kinda hoping Big O's limited AI would kick in and just waltz in on Beck and save Roger like in Episode 13.

beck really is smart when it comes to schemes but the rest of the time he's just a big bonehead! I really didn't expect him to hve another mech but when him and his goons were shown each driving a vehicle I as like o.O
beck having a memory and an important one at that. verrrrry interesting. at first I had thought that he was just making it up to scam the japanese guys but uh uh!
dorothy was very cool! but she really needs a resistance to giant magnets! nice bicycle.. I thought she would get a speeding ticket! I was hoping her favor from roger would be a kiss but maybe next time.. http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif
My one gripe: the switching between Season 1 and Season 2 animation. It's really obvious (Roger scrunching in bed and then slamming open the door, him saying "It's Showtime!", etc.) and, to me anyway, looks really jarring.
Also, I dunno if it's been said before, but I like how, in the new theme, when it starts going into the final verse it has that slow animation of Roger stepping the pedal and Big O's arm pulling back. I just like it for some reason.
Finally, was it just me, or did the pan up in the prison make it seem like the rain was falling up?

In 25 short minutes the following things happened: Beck gets the power of the Afro; the Japanese make fun of what Americans think of them when it comes to tourists; over-religious Christians are offended (you know what I'm talking about, although I find nothing wrong with it); Dorthey pleases her fans with her bike riding; and classic mecha programs of the 1970's are spoofed big time. It's definitely one very funny episode of Big O.

Loved this episode! change of pace, sure. But I laughed my ass off at all the spoofed-ness! The japanese are so great! Good shows, great sense of humors! I don't even mind looking over the forighner plot point. But acually...
If people lost their memories but when they "woke up" from the event which occured they would bassicly have the memories of their bassic language I'm pretty sure unless the event reprogrammed them just for english (japanese). But then again they also acted like traditional japanese with the bowing and all. Meh, sometimes you just gatta overlook these things.
So all in all I liked this episode, loved the religios jab about with what Roger was strapped to. I guess the only arughment I have would be be the thing that went aorund Roger's head bringing up kinda a bad clohsterphobia memory. But a small price to pay. can't bring myself to like Beck though.
One last comment: I love Dorothy's sense of humor! Hope for more of it! But was she really jokeing? Who to say she didn't get self contious at a certain bone headed captives reaction? ^_^

Oh my goodness, whew that was a great episode (I find myself saying that alot with these new eps.)
First we have Rodger meeting those people from Japan. At first I thought this was a contradiction of the idea that people in the city had no knowledge of foreigners, but then I stoped to think. If Paradigm really is New York as many have theorized then it is possible that a sizable population of people from other cultures (including Japan) lived their at the time of "the event." Anyway, pretty pointed self deprication on the part of the people at Sunrise, ouch.
Second: Afro Beck, genius enough said. And the way he tortured Rodger with a dopleganger was creepy, yet so funny. Then comes Rodger with the laser, man who doesn't want that watch?
Third: Yes this very much was a Dorthy episode. Dustin was all freakin out about how to answer the kidnappers, and she just picks it up so casually as if she was taking a messege from the utility company, or something. Then of coarse comes the part where she'd peddling the bike so fast that it's like she's on a harley. Then she gets there and just beats the thugs like they're nothing.
I personally think that the best part of the episode was the scene between the three of them there. Dorthy confesses her love for Rodger and then after he freaks out she withdraws her statement as a "joke" which may be part of her dry android humor, or it may be as often is, that the truth is spoken in jest. The gag with the safety device was great to, nice to see that Dorthy learned from the last time. Anyway, I was expecting that when she asked Rodger for a favor, it was gonna be something like a kiss, but no.
Fourth: Beck and crew get their giant robot and go through all the flashy manga/anime/sentai cliches, I mean I almost thought he was going to say "And I'll form the head." Oh well all that just for Rodger to shoot them with his machine gun like we always wanted someone to do during a transformation sequence, I laughed at that, I laughed hard.
Anyway, as much as I had to search for it there was some plot development here. Apparently there were plans from someone to mass produce Megadeus for some reason, is it possible that these could be connected to the robots that Big O destroyed in episode 14?
Waiting with bated breath for the next ep.

That's actually what I was thinking... New York City being pretty chock full of people from all over the place, speaking all kinds of languages. So I'm now thinking that "foreigner" doesn't necessarily mean someone born in a different country(German, Japanese, etc.), but someone who is, was, or has been living outside of Paradigm City since the event of forty years ago. Thus, Angel could be a foreigner from someplace like Nebraska.
This just reinforces the question of what happened to all the French people in Paradigm forty years ago. Some kind of war or some such, where French citizens were recalled, interned elsewhere, or killed.
Bah. At least they look kinda different.
Actually, since yours favors the left side, and mine is centered, we just need someone with a right-focused Afro Beck...
Ask and ye shall receive...
... nice Avatar, by the way... you too Andrew. >;¬)
I loved this episode. I laughed... a lot. Schwartzwald may mean good times, but Beck means a party.

When this show makes a good episode, it really makes it good. But when Big O, a show known for its air of mystery and seriousness, makes a comedic episode, it can lead to one of the funniest episodes in the series, if not in this genre of anime! While I did admire Beck before in his strange but precise plans (even though Schwartzvald and Rosewater are definately more menacing), this one definately took the cake! And not only was Beck in full "Nabeshin" mode last night, but they managed to make fun of several anime ideas at the same time, including the stereotypes of another culture (this time being those Japanese businessmen), those anime with the female android heroine (probably why Dorothy was so important last night), certain pairings, the "usage of religious symbolism just because without any meaning" (note how Rodger was captured the first time), and of course, the overblown, intentionally cheesy 1970's giant robot shows complete with insane transformation...and the simple way Big O dispatches it! In all, one of the funniest episodes of the season which probably would have been better if they snuck in Angel (or even Alan Gabriel) in the madness.
However, just because it was funny doesn't mean it didn't have its clues like the other episodes. For one thing, note how the Japanaese kanji for "memory" (read as "kioku") was around the building where the businessmen stayed. Perhaps they were already there before the incident fourty years ago, perhaps they weren't, but they could have been seen as "foreigners" if they weren't so connected to Paradigm's history. The other was Beck knowing Rodger was the Dominus of Big O: while it did seem childish when he said it, it does mean that even he may have crucial memories that could solve the mysteries of Paradigm. But were they implanted into him like it has been suspected about Rodger, or is this connected with some sort of former life? (remember Beck was the bank president in ep. 14......)

Woah, that was a great episode. It kind of came from left field, considering how serious film-noir like the show is, but I loved it anyway. Whenever Beck shows up, you know that episode isn't going to be 100% serious anyway.
As a major fan of Dorothy, I adored all of her screentime this episode. From her monotone anwser to the kidnapping call, to her wicked witch bike riding to her "negoiating" to the 'safety first', to the getting the piano fixed 'favor'. :D
And the blatant poking fun at Japanese sterotypes, the transformers joke, Roger's uneasiness at Beck's 'lover' remarks, and Beck for just being Beck. :anime:
In my opinion, a much-needed break from all the seriousness that's been shoved down our throats lately. A great twist, and my favorite episode of Season 2 so far.

would love to use the avatar pic...lol...out of all of the eps of the big o, this would be the oddest episode ever. If I am laughing at an episode of an anime at the beginning and not stop laughing until the ending song, then this must be
one of the funniest things alive
I am a little bewildered by this episode, not only did we see beck in a fro...but dorothy's attempt to be funny, or was it? I am like beck now, no one is paying attention to me. You are just paying attention to the negotiator and his android lover! beck just didn't get any respect in this ep...no respect at all today beck...bah well
finally, I asked for this, a power rangers sequence...and roger destroying it in under 2 seconds, very funny. However this episode can further be developed still when beck said something, and no one commented on it
beck got a memory of roger being the pilot of the deus. How? Perhaps the lightning in the beginning, or the fro that made him remember...nevertheless...there are only maybe 1 negative in all of this, and it really isn't a negative, moreover what I call the kikaider complex...hopefully, we will not see roger putting an arm on dorothy...lol...
all in all, the only thing that might have something to do with the plot is beck getting a memory back...but all in all, this episode was for the funny papers, and should be treated as so
A+

A Dorothy Episode!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! :D
This was a great episode because it was funny in the midst of all the seriousness, so it was a nice change of pace. Beck's 'fro, Brilliant. I loved the making fun of the japanese tourist stereotype "Sugoii, sugoii, sugoii!"
But the best part was: "....The man that I love"
"R. Dorothy Weinright!"
"It was joke I was trying to lighten the mood."

The only real plot-important thing that happened was Beck revealed that he knew Roger piloted the Big O because he regained a memory of dominus Roger.
The other thing was that we learned that a Japanese conglomerate built the domes in Paradigm City.

The Big O - Act17: Leviathan
Missed reviewing last week, so I'll make it quick. Great episode, but still seemed to be... lacking something that I couldn't put my finger on. I did feel though that for Roger to have another confrontation with Rosewater as he did so quickly after "Day of The Advent" felt... too soon. But, there was plot development, and it was good to see Schwarzwald again, even if it's for the last time. I have to wonder, though... If Schwarzwald passed those leaflets around BEFORE he went nuts in Big Duo, who dropped them on the city at the beginning of the episode? Anyway, I give the episode an A-. Still great, but missing something here.
There was also a distinct lack of comic relief... ...though needless too say, they just made up for it.
The Big O - Act 18: The Greatest Villain
...I think I have just witnessed the greatest 25 minutes of television known to man.
-My ONLY nitpick; the rain looked a little odd at the beginning.
-But still, I was quite pleased to see Beck again. His escape plan, and how it worked out in the end, was great, as was the creation of his afro. Interesting way to unlock a memory, too. ;)
-"My name is Roger Smith. This is Paradigm City. And I do a job that's necessary to... necessary to... *snore*"
Needless to say this, combined with Beck's introduction, show that this most certainly is NOT going to be your average episode. XP Roger tying the piano up was great, too
-As I saw where Rogers clients were in this episode, I DID have to do a bit of a double-take. Again, I could tell this wasn't going to be ordinary. This scene is one of the first things to show that this season was most definitely made for an American audience, though; I can't imagine how it could have worked as well in Japanese. For that matter, it must of just seemed a little odd to any Japanese people watching it.
-It's so hard to pick out highlights for this episode... there's just so freaking many.
-Dorothy answering Beck's phone call, and her simple responses to everything were great. But what was better was Dastun's reactions, especially to her saying that she promised not to communicate with the police. XD Also, notice that she walks over and stares at the tied-up piano. Seems Ms. Wayneright had her payment in mind all along...
-Loved the parody of how Roger tends to shoot out of the garage with Dorothy on her bike.
-I have to admit, Beck's plan was actually pretty damn good. He knew Roger well enough to know that he'd find a way out of his restraints, and with the knowledge he's a Dominus, knew from past experience he'd also call on Big O. He just had to wait for him to do it.
-"Colonel Dastun! A Megadeus has appeared! It's that black one!"
"WHAT?! STOP!!"
So, Dastun brings everything to a stop to go after Big O...
-Of course, Beck seems to have underestimated that Big O's not stupid enough to take a long walk off a short cliff. Either that or he forgot that the Roger-puppet can't exactly call out his name when underwater...
-And then... comes Dorothy. "You're not as tortured as I expected, Roger."
-Dorothy's "joke", and Roger's reaction to it, was genius. Of course, what's funniest about it is that with her monotone voice, you can never tell if she IS joking, so hey... who knows. ;)
-"Dorothy... A Negotiator only uses force... as a last resort..."
-Of course, where there's Beck, there's a magnet. Unfortunately for him, Dorothy's not a stupid girl. After all the crap he's done to her, it was quite satisfying to see her get him back for once.
-And y'know... if the episode had just ended there, I think this would still be my favorite episode so far. But no. They didn't end it there...
-It's times like this I'm glad I have, for the most part, avoided spoilers for this show. Because once I saw those vehicles come out, I was laughing constantly throughout the remainder of the show. This has to be absolutely THE best giant robot parody I have ever seen. Ever. XD Everything just fit together so perfectly... the animation, the music... It's the last thing I would expect from Big O, but damn. Just perfect.
-"Colonel Dastun! A Megadeus has just appeared in the West Eighth Street Dome!"
"...What?! ...Everyone! Head back!"
Those poor, poor bastards...
-Then comes the grand finale... with Big O and Beck's mech posing before a replica of Mt. Fuji, I nearly fell out of my seat laughing. I also can't help but wonder if Beck saying Big O looks "archaic" is a jab at the fact its design calls back to classic giant robot stuff, while his mech is much flashier and "modern" looking. Greatest of all in this part, of course, is Big O just blowing the hell out of the thing as he preps a big, flashy attack move. XP
-Much like others, considering the last Beck episode, I was almost expecting something... else for Dorothy's favor. However, I should have figured it was the piano. Still, I have absolutely no problem with her further tormenting Roger with that thing... ;)
I guess my thoughts are a bit more scattered and not all that... thoughtful as some of my reviews have been in the past, but I'm still just abosrbing the whole thing. This is DEFINITELY my favorite episode of Big O (so far), thus, it gets a grade from me of A+
...
And Lurker Tom, you are a genius. XD

Is it just me or in the previous episodes when Dorothy moved there was no "android sound effects" but last night I noticed it, and it seemed the the first time in weeks that she made those noises.
And Dorothy riding that bike to save Roger...my legs stated burning just watching her peddle like that.
And is Beck the first person to suggest there is something more to Roger and Dorothy then just negotiator and assistant. Other than Dorothy's questions to Roger on that subject I mean.

Wow, that was fabulous. Finally, the Big O drops the mystery, the ambiguity, the religious overtones, and just has some fun. This episode was pure entertainment, and it was also the first of Season 2 to actually satisfy my need for Dorothy. I remember rolling my eyes when she was picked up by the magnet, only to find myself pleasantly surprised when she had protected her CD drive. Funny stuff. Plenty of great dialogue here, too, especially Dorothy's confession of love (I know what she said, but she wasn't kidding). I guess the foreigners thing was a bit of a plothole, but I can let it slide, in an episode this fun. There was also a pleasant lack of The Big O- after the big mecca battles of the last four episodes, the megadeuses (megadeii?) didn't appear until the very, end, and then only briefly. It was also nice to get a break from Alex Rosewater, Alan Gabriel, and Angel. And no annoying flashbacks, either.
This really should have been titled "Dorothy the Negotiatior", though. Or would that have given too much away?

I know this was talked about on last weeks thread but when are we going to see Big O's little boot up phrase again. IT's nothing important of course but it's just a nice little extra.
And is Beck the first person to suggest there is something more to Roger and Dorothy then just negotiator and assistant. Other than Dorothy's questions to Roger on that subject I mean.
Well their was Oliver in episode 11 where Roger gave a very simaler reaction.
Oliver: You two make a pretty good couple yourselves
Roger: Err...it's..not what you think.
Oliver: That's not very nice, right?
Dorothy: I'm used to it.

First of all I really liked the camo background for the Big O cards.
Second, this is now my favorite episode of the second season and maybe even of the series over all. If I had one complaint, it was that there was no Angel in it. But we did get to see the return of Beck and we got to see Dorothy do a negotiation and that made this one priceless.
And since Big O made #3 on the Ratings Roundup last week, this episode definitely seems to be signs of more goodness to come.

Beck got electrocuted just like Doc in Back to the Future. The bolt must have made him smarter, enough to put two and two together and figure Roger and Big O were connected.
As we saw from Roger's visit to Wayneright's house, robots like Dorothy don't have proper human anatomy to make love. I wonder if what Beck said hurt her feelings under that blank stare. If she does harbor feelings for Roger, seeing Roger ogle Angel all the time must be painful for dorothy, since she can never give what human women can. :( Stupid louse Roger. Several times in the past he's been rether inconsiderate to Dorothy's feelings because she's an android. Just because she can't express her feelings through facial expression.

Ep. 18 "The Greatest Villain" aka "More Evidence That There's No Word for 'Political Correctness' in Japanese" Episode Review
So Big O gets its comic relief episode. While it was nice to see something a little different after two straight "confrontation with Rosewater complete with Alan Gabriel appearance" episodes, I dunno, I wasn't as into this one as most folks here seem to be. It's fine for something like Cowboy Bebop (which has one full-time comic relief character in Ed) to have a comic relief episode once in a while (Mushroom Samba, Cowboy Funk) but in Big O I thought it seemed pretty out-of-place. It doesn't help that I've just plain never liked Beck very much.
Don't get me wrong, humor is an important part of Big O, but I prefer the very dry R Dorothy style of humor that's more common in the series rather than the wacky / out-there Beck style of humor.
And even then, I liked Beck's two previous appearances better. Not that it wasn't funny, but I didn't like the sight gags that broke the "rules" of Big O animation. Big O usually sticks to a very realistic style, and never before has it resorted to "cartoony" sight gags like Beck and his henchmen getting electrocuted, the silly animation on the Japanese businessmen, and the Becktron's posing complete with Japanese letters and wacky shining background. Normally, I LOVE that type of humor (big Ginyu Force / DBZ fan here, heh heh) but I don't like it in Big O.
A few other points:
* I have to hand it to him, Beck's plan in this episode proves that he really is one clever sumbyatch.
* While Beck claims that a memory "just popped into his head" telling him who Big O's pilot was, I wouldn't be inclined to take that at face value.
First, all the instances of memories being recovered that we've seen so far have been memories of before the Cataclysm.
Second, Beck was heavily involved in Megadeus production in his first appearance, so I find it far more likely that he received his general knowledge of Megadeus operation (the fact that only certain people can pilot them, that they can be "summoned," etc.) from that caper and just put two and two together when it came to Roger-- after all, it's not like it was hard to figure out or anything.
As to why Beck would lie about it, A.) he's Beck. He's a total psycho, who knows why he does anything he does. B.) He probably wanted to confuse and intimidate Roger-- after all, in Paradigm City, memories = power, and if Beck "remembered" this, Roger has to wonder what else Beck might have "remembered." Finally, C.) It's a bit of self-parody, since The Big O has used the old "a memory just popped into my head" bit to tie up niggling plot threads a few times before. (I'm especially thinking of Bonnie Fraser in "Bring Back My Ghost.")
* Anyone else find it interesting that while Rosewater and Beck both use the term "Dominus" to refer to those who pilot the Megadeii and that Schwarzvald refers to a Medageus' pilot as his "master," Roger says that he and Big O "fight side by side"?
Considering that "Dominus" is generally translated as "lord" or "master," it seems that Roger has a very different idea of the relationship between a Megadeus and his pilot than the villains do.
This may be an important plot point and a reason why Big O seems to show such loyalty to Roger (as opposed to, say, Big Duo, which seemed to care very little that Schwarzvald was getting his butt kicked in Act XII).
* Oh, so now Dorothy was "just joking" about loving Roger? Yeah, right. Roger might be that gullible, but I'm not. (-:

1. I wonder how the Japanese stereotype joke works in the Japanese version? How could they portray that Roger doesn't understand Japanese when obviously, in the Japanese version, Roger speaks Japanese? :D
2. With Dorothy's weight, I'm surprised the bike's tires held up. And at such a high speed too. I would've expected the bike rims to dig down into the tires and cause a flat.
3. Dorothy's "joke" on Roger was just cruel.
Edit: I guess it's her payback for those moments Roger being a louse to her. :D
4. One downer in this ep though: there's something wrong with Dorothy's VA. Dorothy sounded a bit older than usual. :(

One assumes that she probably uses some kind of heavy-duty tires, possibly custom-made. After all, that bicycle doesn't exactly appear to be a normal Schwinn-- Norman probably made it just for her, since he seems to be the mechanical type.

Cast in the name of god Ye not guilty
In the anime series Big O, this message scrolls across the console of the Big O Megadeus mecha when its pilot, Roger Smith, activates it.
There has been some speculation among fans as to the origin or etymology of the phrase. Some have claimed that it was engraved upon the sword of a legendary or historic knight or crusader. Others believe that it refers to the Biblical admonishment, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Finally, some suggest that it is just a poetic login acknowledgment, left in the Megadeus operating system for forgotten reasons.
This expression has become a rather popular sig quote among anime fans of late -- possibly because of its very mystery. It's certainly more welcome in that capacity than, say, All Your Base.

Actually, I'm fairly sure the error was the fault on the Japanese end of things from what I remember, and was something they changed back in Season 2.

Best. Comedic. Episode. Ever.
Still doesn't beat the suspense aspect of "Winter Night Phantom," but "The Greatest Villian" was straight comic gold. The second I was the transformation sequence going on with Beck's bot, I just knew it was gonna be non-stop hilarity from there on out. The Indiana Jones-eque dispatch was just icing on the case. NabeBeck, or should I say Dr. Becklin, was dead on too.
This episode reaffirms my need to get the second season on DVD.

"The Greatest Villian"
Ah. Great episode. Funniest thing of the night. (Kinda weird considering this is comedy night and this is action) Anyway, I loved it. The transformation scene had me laughing and so did the Indiana Jones scene. (Which may I add, was Harrison Ford's idea. No not this joke, but the scene in Indiana Jones were he shoots the sword fighter. Because it was so hot, he just shot the guy instead of having to film a longer scene in the blazzing sun. Now You Know.) I wasn't much on the Roger doll though. Kinda slowed the pace down. A
Oh, and Beck = cool. Beck + Afro = the shizzle
For just this one episode, I'll exucse the big questions, but to be fair...
Odds are that no one belives foreigners don't exist outside Paradyme, but there are different ethnic groups within- Japanese, French, African American, etc. These people retained some of their old customs with their memories.

It was a good episode, nice humorous scenes. I loved how Dorothy got back at Beck.

Just because she can't express her feelings through facial expression.
Considering her facial expression actually changed (and that's two episodes in a row) I don't think it's her face he's concerned with.

If Waynewright made RDorothy...compatible with other humat anatomy, that would be really creepy, considering she's modeled after a young girl, and his daughter for that matter.
I have it figured out, the only thing cooler than Afro-Beck: Afro-Beck WITH BIG EYEBROWS!

Here's another tid bit of information. During an interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno , Harrison Ford said the actor/sword wielder didn't know that his on screen appearance would be so short. This poor guy was an expert with a sword and practiced like crazy for the part. So when they did the first take of that scene, Indiana Jones shot the guy and he took FIVE minutes to die.
Funny thing about that transformation. Beck and his gang go through all the trouble combining into that giant robot to impress Roger. Yet, Roger ignored him and was amused by the black tie Dorothy gave him :D

I think we could have all lived without this episode, all I noticed was the big transforming robot homage. It was probably a humorous break from the main storyline.

"Beck The Great RX-3 has COMBINED!!"
That parody of the combining Japanese vehicles into the giant robot was great! Not to mention how quickly Roger decimated it while Beck was trying to show off.
And let's not forget the little plot piece we got about what information is floating around in Beck's head...
If you listen closely to the announcer saying the title of this episode, you can just hear him snickering in the background at Beck...
I give this comedic episode a B+
