Boomerang's recent schedule changes have really gutted it of action shows, apparently to make room for stuff like more tedious stuff like Snorks. What's the deal?

Simple: to make it appeal to preschoolers.
I'm not lying. This is exactly what it said in the press release we got announcing it, and I am so incensed that if I say any more, it will devolve into a stream of cursing.

It's posts like this that infuriate me. Why would anyone want that when they could have five-star quality programming like The Smurfs and Scooby Doo? Let's make way for the real classics, please.
I mean, come on! Cartoon Network shows Scooby at times everyone can watch it, and now they are nice enough to show it on Boomerang too. Can't you be grateful for these kinds of things?

Uh, it said preschoolers AND parents. They're appealing to two age groups. Not just the former.

Preschoolers??? I thought Boomerang's main business was nostalgia. What do 5 year olds care about Jonny Quest or Scooby Doo?? They're too busy with stuff like Spongebob.
This channel has had a pretty cool selection of classic action and comedy cartoons in the past, so the latest bland programming choices baffle me. Very weak.
Incidentally, don't hold back on the mudslinging on our account. Let the fur fly!

In that case, They'll probably unearth the "nostalgic" equivalents of Pecola and Sitting Ducks to put on Boomerang. Sad, just sad. Do we honestly need more "preschool-oriented programming". I just hope they don't put the Filmation/Hanna Barbera Popeyes on Boomerang. THAT would be horrible

Aren't there enough action shows on CN alone?

Whoa, whoa! Wait. What the hell is wrong with Sitting Ducks?! That show rocks, dude.
Okay, personally I think they should have more variety on Cartoon Nework and have more of those "nostalgic" Cartoons around so that I don't hafta put up with hour after hour of Dexter, Eds and Tom and Jerry and Scooby. Hey, Luigi, whats that schedule again? Any way, Boomerang is great an all but I wanna see some Superfriends before Justice League, man. Like how it used to be before Batman. Dude!! I wana see some more classic Batmans!! I mean Dexter and the Eds are great an' all but I'm getting kinda sick of them.

Not classic ones. That's what Boomerang is for, or should be. But take a look at this recent schedule change:
8:00am, 4:00pm, 12:00am Smurfs (replaces Superman/Batman Adv.)
8:30am, 4:30pm, 12:30am Snorks (replaces Fantastic Four)
9:00am, 5:00pm, 1:00am Scooby Doo, Where Are You? (replaces Johnny Quest)
9:30am, 5:30pm, 1:30am Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo (replaces Centurions)
4 pretty good action shows wiped out, and replaced by the likes of the Snorks and Scrappy.

That's fine for comedy fans, but I don't see any action shows on that roster. Let's bring back the variety.

I'm dissapointed that they removed "Fantastic Four (1967)" from weekdays at 10:30PM and put it at 12:30AM
Also, they don't show Top Cat or Flinstones as much as they used to :(

Action cartoons get a whole 8 hour block on Sunday. What are you complaining about?

The Boomerang schedule changes every month. Your favorite show is bound to show up again sooner or later.

The real problem with the Boomerang schedule is the eight-hour programming cycle. Scheduling only eight-hours of programming per day limits what they could put on air. They would be better separating their programming into day parts with a certain hours of the day devoted to different types of programming. Mornings could be devoted to shows aimed at preschoolers (Smurfs, Snorks), early afternoons towards HB staples (Scooby-Doo, Top Cat), late afternoons to action (Superfriends, Jonny Quest, B:TAS), prime-time to classic animation (Looney Tunes, Bullwinkle, Harveytoons, Flintstones), and late-night to cult favorites (open to interpretation but more special acquisitions G.I Joe, Mr. Magoo, etc.).
While Boomerang should be an all-ages network, it should focus on mostly on nostalga. Focusing on a younger audience isn't going to work because they are going to perceive the shows as "old and primitive," that's part of the reasoning behind moving most of the older shows to Boomerang from Cartoon Network. Programming and marketing efforts should be focused on the audience that grew up with these shows. "Nostalga" is big right now and right now they should focus on eighties programming like Smurfs, Thundercats, G.I. Joe, and everyone's favorite, Scooby-Doo.
They should rotate these programs every once in awhile or pair them with other shows similiar in theme since many of these shows didn't last too long in order to avoid overexposure of these shows (something that marred the Cartoon Network in its early days). They should also active try to acquire some shows and libraries to further strengthen its identity (Transformers, the complete Filmation library, Voltron, etc.).
While I understand reruning their most popular shows later in the day, programming the network on an eight-hour cycle is redundant. It also makes Boomerang less appealing to potential subscribers and cable carriers.

I think that just about says it all. This could be a really cool channel with a huge variety of action and comedy shows from multiple decades. Instead there is way too much emphasis on 60s/70s Hanna Barbera "comedies."

Nelson, that is only too True. What i'm afraid of is Boomerang may possibly replace the shows you listed with 1970's/1980's shows. It's unlikely, but I'm not going to put it past Aol/Time Warner

Eventually there will be 70's/80's and even 90's shows on Boomerang when those decades nostalgia are in full force. At that time there will be a new channel(Boomerang 2 perhaps) that will show more classic shows from pre-70's.
