You know those inflatable beds, do they damage your back. I'm thinking of investing one seeing as how I have no furniture for where I'm going to live in september.

My experience with Air beds = BAD

They're great for camping, but you can't beat a Boxspring/Mattress or my favorite: A Single Bladder Water Bed for long term comfort.

Personally, I'd sooner sleep on an old, broken down, rusty box-spring mattress with sharp springs sticking out all over it than on an air mattress... but that's me. :D

Air mattresses don't always last too long, either. Prone to getting holes. Even ones in decent condition can have problems with deflating entirely by morning. Urgh.

If you can't afford a regular mattress at the moment, you'd probably be better off with a sleeping bag on top of a few thick blankets.

But take my advice with a grain of salt. I find things comfortable that would give most people serious back pain. ;-)

More comfortable than alot of beds. Get a queen sized.

Don't beleive the hype, air beds are ok for a night or two, but not as a long term slumber solution. If you have any big warehouse stores, (Sam's Club, Costco, etc) go there and get a cheap mattreess, I bought a full size mattress from a store like that for 70 bucks.

I usually sleep on an air matress, and indeed it does tend to get alot of holes. I wouldn't recomended it, but I wouldn't go against it either. Really, I only like my air matress because of the height.

I didn't have a good experience with 'em either. Probably better for a short replacement, but I had to put up with mine for months.

They're certainly not uncomfortable, but they are incredibly frustrating to maintain. I counted four or five holes in mine by the time I stopped using it. I could HEAR the air escaping at night and it drove me nuts. And when I did fall asleep I would wake up to find myself basically sleeping on a mat on the ground. It had completely deflated.

I'm not sure how true this is but I heard the 5 minute inflatable airbed if flat by the time you wake up:D

An air mattress is great to have for a night or two. It beats sleeping bags on the floor at least.

That being said, it's not really a good idea long term. You'd be better off buying a cheap mattress. Or you may want to try a futon. They're pretty comfortable to sleep in, and you can get one pretty cheap secondhand if money is an issue.

Ha!Ha!Ha! Just imagining that scene is hysterical. That would really suck.

Thanks all for the advice.
I guess I'll get a regular mattress.
