Ah, yes, this game looks good.
It's kind of like the Super Robot Wars series, which are strategy games featuring tons of giant robots (Nearly every Gundam series, Getter Robo, Nadesico, Evangelion, and in the newer ones, The Big O). This one features characters from animes made by Sunrise, which includes Cowboy Bebop and The Big O, as well as other series.
If GameFAQs is to be believed, this game is coming to the US, which would be surprising since we've never gotten a Super Robot Wars game over here.
Anyway, the one thing that bugs me is that Outlaw Star was not included in this game...it's a Sunrise series, and Gene Starwind would fit in right alongside Spike Spiegal.

Wow, that's spectacular! Gotta echo the sentiment on Outlaw Star not being included though.

I like that, although it really puts the differences in character design styles in sharp relief. But somehow I think the characters would mesh well enough.
I wonder if there is any spoken dialogue in this game, if there is any scene with both Roger and Spike could become confusing (provided they obtain the original English voice talent).

Hmm...bizarre. Do Roger Smith and Spike Spiegel even live in the same fictitious future?

Technically, no. But then, neither do Mario, Pikachu, and Capt. Falcon in SSBM, but they're still fighting in the game.....

I'd debate with you about Nintendo game continuity, but...
A) It'd be long winded
B) It would steer this thread way off topic
C) I doubt you care
But regardless, the difference between SSBM and this game is that this game looks like it has some resemblance of a plot, as apposed to a magical omnipotent glove pulling dolls out of a treasure chest and making them fight for sport. It's a cool idea for a game none-the-less.

that would be an interesting scene to dub into english.

That screenshot alone makes me want to import the thing if it never comes over here.

HAW! Didn't David Lucas do Gene Starwind's voice too? Put all three of them into a room together. Most confusing conversation ever.
No offense to the David Lucas fans out there, but he's hogging all the good leading male roles. But it's no surprise since he's really good at it.

If you look carefully, it looks to have "click and click" cut scenes rather than animated ones. Meaning the plot is portrayed by still images and text below it, rather than any animated in game movies. Just like a hentai bishoujo game.
Er...not that I've played any... :o

Nope. Gene was voiced by Bob Bucholz, under the psuedonym "Robert Wicks". Basically the same voice he used for Beck in Big-O.

Hmm... Now that I think of it, you're right. Gene sounds more nasally than Spike.
Who'd Lucas play in Outlaw Star then?

I was unaware David Lucas was even in Outlaw Star. I mean, I'm sure he had a bit part or background role somewhere in the 26 episodes, but I don't believe he had any major role in the dub.

Yeah, Outlaw Star is probably the only Animaze/Bang Zoom dub in the last few years that doesn't have Lucas in a major role. Actually, he may not have been in the dub at all, unless he played a minor background role somewhere.
Bucholz's Gene and Beck voices are similar, I agree. His Beck is slightly more relaxed and insane, since that fits the character...

Hmm... I swear I saw him in the credits. I wish Bandai would list English voice credits for each character instead of just dumping a list there for you to figure out.

Say, wasn't somebody asking for all of Lucas' characters to be put in a room in the first Big O talkback thread? :¬)
I am, as always, especially reticent of any attempt to dump characters from different franchises together... especially in a video game. Occasionally they get decent treatment in other media, but I have little faith in the cuisenarting of plots in a video game. If I'm wrong, it might become difficult for me to wait for the PS2 to drop to ($)$50. Or should that be woolongs?
