Well, if Blue Gender happens to have a ridiculous number of edits, we now know who to blame. :D
Seriously, now I'm really interested in this show. Bring it on!

I had a feeling Blue Gender would be one of the more "Adult" shows, but not in that way. Well, I know Funimation will do a great job of showing it, and since they know it's for AS will do a great job of making sure most of the content is kept. Now I can see why some people were saying this show might get a TV-MA, if CN actually could allow that.

Well, some people would argue that AS has already handled sex...with everybody's favorite ambiguous Kikaider scene. (Is she fixing his arm? Or is she "fixing" something "else?" Nobody knows for sure...)
Actually, AS has definetly handled sex, in Family Guy (S&M scene, for one). But we all know that the american animation and japanese animation have different rules...
Oh well. As long as Blue Gender's plot stays intact, I don't mind a few edits. I'll probably buy the boxset anyway.

Just a side note, Kyle Pope has also started to do the edit lists (http://animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php?id=191) for the Adult Swim version of "Big O".
*Drum roll*
And the first six episodes are *gasp* unedited. If anything the first two episodes were anti-edited with the added opening.
Okay, enough pointless info. I go sleepy now.

A lot of the sex in the latter half of the show is essential to the plot, save for...
...the gratuitous lesbian fan service.

Ah, I was wondering when Kyle was going to get around to doing an intro for Blue Gender. He's definetely interested to see how it's handled, because one of his personal dreamshows for AS, Hellsing, could also use a relaxed editting climate as well.

For those who have seen the show, I have a question.
If a show is going to be bad enough so that the editing is quite noticable, I like to see the fansubbed version first.
Is that how blue gender is? Should I download it first?
Thanks :D

Well, FUNi will most likely be editing Blue Gender for TV, and this will be their....what? Second show being edited for Adult Swim (after Yu Yu Hakusho)? It'll be interesting seeing how this show ends up.
After all, FUNi is the company who edited out Yusuke's middle finger, but upon hearing that it was allowed on Adult Swim, they unedited the finger, and sent the tape back to Williams Street. That's fan support right there.

No, you should buy or rent the dvds. Funimation did a superb job, or so everyone I know who bought it says.

Cool.
Did they edit yu yu hakusho for toonami as well. Not to fond of that, but I think I'm just bias because they cut out my favorite scene.
Blast!
Oh, well. Maybe I shouldn't dwell so much on every series that airs.

Yes, FUNi edited the Toonami episodes also. They also re-edited the first season episodes, which had previously aired on Adult Swim, and thus need further editing.

I thought Matt Wilson said that WS re-edited the first season using spliced footage from the AS version?

Does anybody really care if there are edits in the show? If there is some scences that are going to far then they wil cut it. One thing I would not like Kyle Pop to do is not to do "Not an edit" things because then maybe Funi or Ws will go back and re-edit.
On sex things, well I guess if the robo-sex thing can get away i guess some things in BG don't have to be editted. I have seen the show and yes there are some sex scences that are well more marture.

FUNi is editing it, not WS.

Trust me, the sex scene in Kikaider is nothing. That's tame silhouette stuff.
The sex in Blue Gender is supposedly WAY obvious and ON camera.

I hope Williams Street hasn't bitten off more than they can chew with this series. Or, more than Turner will let them chew, as was the case with Rejected.

Well, the hope is that:
1. It's TVMA and get away with anything.
2. It's TV14, but because it's being edited out of house, they can away with almost anything. I mean, Funimation got the middle finger through on an absolute technicality. If anyone is going to be able to push it, it's them.

If they cant make the show TV-MA than they have definitely bitten off more than they can chew. Just the violence is sufficent for MA frankly. If they edit all the violence they will take about 3 hours of film out of the whole series.
Sex is the other issue. Theres no way they'll get away with a lot of it. The way its handled in the scenes is very adult. Not like kikaider where you see them smiling at each other and hugging.

this will be a tv-14 show. Reign had some significant edits (some of the violent gore & all of the nudity). why does anyone think this show will all of the sudden be able to play uncut?
anything graphic will be edited along the same lines that Reign was edited. if the sex scenes don't show any nudity and aren't graphic, they'll probably end up staying... as long as they're essential to the story.

I REALLY don't think we should be talking about this.
There is some stuff I want to see in there.
Most of the scenes ARE essential to the plot of the series. Man's cold heart; man's life in these days.
FUNimation, if you're reading, do as little edits as possible, keep in the opening AND ending in FULL, AND IN JAPANESE. Especially the ending. Like Inu-Yasha, just edit out the nipples. :o :anime:
The English versions are ok, but the Japanese versions ARE EXCELLENT.
I'm pretty sure they can get away with ALL the blood occuring with the Blue. We'll see. I have all the DVD's. Just PLEASE don't edit more than you need.

FUNimation probably won't use the Japanese opening and ending because they spent the time dubbing it into English. They'll show their version.

They could, if they rewrote their bylaws.
I'm just glad seeing Kyle try to find edits in Big-O, and finding squat. Told ya!

The sex scenes are necessary to the plot, are graphic, and do show nudity. Reign was nothing compared to Blue Gender. And I dont doubt that it will be TV-14. There will be so many edits that the show wont make sense.

Cn can't show TV-MA. People thought "Rejected'' was going to be TV-MA but it was not, it was TV-14.

Didn't the promos for Rejected have a TV MA logo on them? I seem to remeber that being there. However Rejected TVMA (stick figures bleeding and being violent) is a lot different than anime characters having graphic sex.

Yeah, but FUNimation could edit the nipples out on Blue Gender, since you can show breasts, just not the nipples.

Most of the incidents with the sex and nudity really are big issues in 3 episodes in the entire series. so for the most part the series should remain intact, thought the gore might be toned down a little
