View Full Version : Adult swim and the production of big o season two.

I read that toonami bringing the show big o to america was a big shock, because even in Japan not many people had heard of it and it didn't get very good ratings.
But now adult swim brings in a second season...
Did Adult Swim have anything to do with the actual production of the second season of adult swim? Or was it already out there, and they did the dubbing?

They basically went to Japan and said that'd be willing fund/co-fund a second 13 episode season of Big O, and that further still, should the second season perform respectably in the ratings, that they'd fund/co-fund a third season of 26 episodes.

The dubbing was done by Animaze studio IIRC (or was it Z-Ro Limit?), and I'm not sure whether it was Cartoon Network or Bandai Entertainment America who foot the bill for the dub (I'm leaning towards CN, cause word is, is that it's a union dub).

Simply put, it was more popular here then in Japan, and CN co-funded the second season's production. I personally can't wait to see what that looks like.

Most definetely. It should look better than ever. I also can't wait to get the dvds. I wonder if the AS Big O promos will thrown on 'em as extras.

I wouldn't be surprised. Remember the legendary two-minute "Gundam Wing" commerical? Bandai used it as a preview for the show on some of their DVDs.

additionally, the blue sub 6 reissue included all the toonami promos as well (so tempting... to buy...).

I always get a kick out of the Gundam Wing trailers on my Bebop DVDs ending in the Toonami logo.

I wonder if Bandai could get the Toonami "clip montage" ending as a special feature in the upcoming DVDs, that would be kinda cool....
