Another Mainframe show hits Cartoon Network. Be prepared for horrible dialogue, terrible pun-based jokes, and awkward-looking anatomical designs.
Sounded like an Ocean dub in the commercials but it might not be. Haven't seen the actual show yet.

Yep, it's an Ocean dub. I saw Brian Drummond's name in the credits.

Actually it wasn't that bad grade C. I give it that for the nice spontaneous car crash for the loop laughed for a while with that at least.

I couldn't get past the first commercial break. I tuned in every once in a while and my impression didn't change.
I tried to stick with it, I had no expectations, good or bad, and came out disappointed.

You know, I know Mainframe hasnt' lost its game, since the Spiderman cartoon on MTV is really great, but what's with this? Were they planning stories or planning ways to expand the toy line more by trying to cash in on animation to make even more money? I give it a D+, mainly because the animation in some spots were pretty good, but that's it. Boring and painful, I recommend that no one watch it.

That's the recipe for hillarity.

Eh. I forgot about it, but from the looks of things I didn't miss much.
I guess I'll try to catch it next week, just in case it has that "So horrible it's funny" charm to it, as opposed to "Just plain bad," a la Ren and Stimpy APC (what's aired of it so far, anyway).

How does this show compare to "Nascar Racers"?

How does this show compare to "Nascar Racers"?
It doesn't. It blows NASCAR Racers out of the water. This was pretty good, and the animation is more of what I'm accustomed to with Mainframe. I may be in the minority here, but I'm giving it an A.
By the way, this is not the first cartoon to bear the Hot Wheels brand. For the last one, you have to go back over 35 years to a show simply titled, "Hot Wheels", that aired on ABC back in the 60's. I think Mattel had something to do with that, too.

I actually had zero expectations for this show and I planned not to watch it, but I stumbled onto it and decided to give it a try. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it certaintly isn't anything to write home about ...

Oh? I thought CN wasn't airing any Mainframe shows?
Well Max Steel was on SVES & isn't that a Mainframe show?

It surprised me to see that this was a Mainframe show. The animation looked totally different from most of their stuff.
The whole thing's a pretty blatant toy commercial, but for Hot Wheels, which are in general just generic toy cars, it's a nifty enough concept. Looking at the World Race section of hotwheels.com, the cars are pretty stylish.
Storywise, well, you can't expect that much given that they had a really rigid concept that they had to work with. It's passable, though you have to pass off the guy who is running the race as a generic rich nut since there are much better ways to test new car technology than sucker several dozen racers into a race across an alien-build track in another dimension with $5 mil prizes for the winners. You also have to pass off the main character as the make-the-main-character-someone-the-kids-can-relate-to guy since it's not the greatest idea to put a 16 year old who just got his license in a race with professional racers. Okay, when I say it that way it sounds like the whole thing's a load of crap, but it's really all about the racing and pretty cars with gadgets in them.
Well Max Steel was on SVES & isn't that a Mainframe show?
No, it wasn't. At least not initially. I think maybe it was for the third season. Action Man was Mainframe's.

Mainframe has completely lost its game since it founding staff left. End of story. Spider-man, Hot Wheels, Action Man, and Max Steel have all stunk crap.
Later.

Nope. Sony produced Max Steel.

Seems like CN and Mainframe might have made up.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a much better "toy commercial" (which it isn't  ) than is this Highway 35. I may watch it anyway, just for lack of Reboot and bored-ness.

God I hope so. ANYTHING to strengthen the chances of Reboot returning, or the aquisition of Beast Wars.

I've read stuff on the board that said they've made up. Hope it's true, I want more Reboot.
This was exactly what I expected. Harmless racing kiddy junk. Whatever. I'll be doing something else when this is on.

You're right.
It's a card game commercial. :p

The story was predictable, the characters were nothing but overused cliches, and the animation absolutely sucked (sooooo many awful shortcuts!! Check the smoke in the middle of the volcano - it's just a flat texture being stretched and skewed upwards! Very cheap!)
But... the actual racing scenes weren't too terrible (better than The Fast and the Furious, anyway).

Obi: How can Yu-Gi-Oh! be a card game commercial when it originally had nothing to do with cards. ;)
I'm referring to Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters. :p
