There was a commerical for the Totally Spies show (which is coming to Cartoon Network July 7th, 4:30 p.m.) so for those who never saw the show you can get a good look at it in real motion. And for the rest, you know what it looks like, just watch it to see if you remember liking or hating it.
What show did it air during? I probably missed it because of the Daria movies.

It aired during the X-Men Evolution commerical break, and then aired during the Yu-Gi-Oh commerical break. It will probably air during a lot between the SVES shows since Totally Spies is considered an "action" show.
Crap! I missed it again!
Darn you Daria! :p

Was Totally Spies on Disney channel or ABC Family before? If it was, why is it coming to CN and how come Disney Channel or ABC Family doesn't air it anymore? Is the show still in production or did CN just buy the episodes?
From the commerical, it seems like a fun, light-hearted show to watch.

Not sure about Disney, but I do remember it was on ABC Family on weekdays for a while during it's run. I think that the show has finished it's production, but the second season of it has not aired, so CN could have bought both seasons and it would be the second season's premiere when it aired.

Probably Disney's broadcast license just expired.
It's made by the French studio Marathon and was syndicated, so Disney doesn't own it.

You should be fine as long as you can stand "valley girls."
What do you think of Clueless and Sailor Moon?

Saw the commercial. Not really too much to it, just the introduction of the three spies and a few action sequences. The flower that appeared on top of the "I" in the logo has been replaced with a circular design though in the promo.

Totally Spies began on Fox Family on November 3, 2001. By the second episode though, the network was renamed ABC Family, illustrating the fact this show was caught in a transition period between two companies. Fox Family Worldwide had positioned Fox Family as a largely girl-oriented network, especially since chairman Haim Saban back then had vowed the Power Rangers would never air on the channel. In July 2001, Disney bought the network and announced plans to change programming to a more boy-oriented network, the most obvious change being the addition of PR to the schedule. 2 seasons (52 episodes) were initially ordered, but only the first 26 episodes were aired until June 2002, and the show kept running until September of that year.
The theory that I generally accept is that Disney didn't want anything interfering with marketing Kim Possible to success, so they jettisoned the series from their cable properties. It of course disappointed the creators of the show, and some were probably bitter about it. Now, in July 2003, we see this show going against Kim Possible season 2, but it seems like Disney created quite a formidable challenge for them, as they managed to strike deals with Wal-mart for KP products, and soundtracks and DVDs are on the way. Nothing of the sort has happened for TS in the U.S. yet. It's going to be quite a steep hill for TS to climb.
Now, I enjoy both shows, both it seems like fans of Totally Spies on the net are much more prone to trashing Kim Possible than vice versa. I guess that's due to the fact TS has been off for nearly a year, while KP has aired continously in that time. Perhaps I've been visiting the wrong boards, but it definitely seems that Internet fandom bashes the other show more frequently than the other way around.

Clueless the movie was okay, but I never saw the TV series. I find Sailor Moon pretty funny which is why I watched. I found the antics of Serena and Raye to be very funny.

That was what I thought, and I think Disney was idiotic in doing so. While they made ABC Family a boy network, they were intentionally slapping together Kim Possible and Lizzie McGuire to make Disney Channel a girl's network. Why not just put Totally Spies on earlier in the day, or right before Kim Possible as a lead-in? The only thing I can come up with is that foolish "if it's not made by Disney, it doesn't air on Disney" garbage. But that just makes Disney look like a contradiction, seeing as how they didn't hesistate to place Power Rangers on ABC (albeit after firing the "golden era" staff and puppeting in Doug Sloan, which wasn't his fault) and Marvel cartoons on ABC Family. Now I like Kim Possible and Totally Spies, but with Disney losing money, TS could have made them a little something. Their loss.
Later.

So, is this Totally Spies as crappy as it looks or should I give it a watch when it starts up?

I saw the series on ABC Family, and I enjoyed it. It's a light-hearted action series that doesn't take itself very seriously. I think it'll fit the pre-toonami slot.

I saw it and it looks like pure crap(like something that should be on Toon Di$ney(or is it on CN to battle that crappier Mary Kat and Ashlie cartoon?).), and if even CN can't make it look good even in the comercials, you know it's just a crappy time-slot-filler.

Unfortunately, the show does reek of "timeslot filler" but it's not too bad a show. Light-hearted fun, although the valley girl aspect made me want to shoot a stuffed animal or something. I'd give it a C. Higher if you don't take it seriously and enjoy the type of show, lower if you can't stand valley girls or prefer action programming with deeper plot.

For some odd reason, the character designs reminded me of the character designs from Gunsmith Cats. I don't know if I'll watch. Maybe if I have nothing else to do.

I'm totally addicted to "Totally Spies"!! :D
I just gotta catch up on the first season. Season two is finished up here.
BRING ON SEASON THREE!! :D :D
Clover like totally ROCKS!! :D ;)
Totally Spies is an OK show, it's not bad, but it's definitely no masterpiece.

Well, we Americans tend to call 'anime', cartoons that are made in Japan. I've been told that anime is actually animation in Japanese. In Japan, they call anything that's animated 'anime', including shows like The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny, etc...

I was a big Totally Spies fan myself, and I'm glad they took it off that God-Awful Fox/ABC Family channel.
I wonder when they're going to bring back those adult spies from the first season?

Trust me, it's not as bad as it may look. Before seeing the show, I saw promo pics that showed the girls armed with giant hair dryers and thought "Great, a show with an anime inspired look where ditzy girls bumble their way through and save the day". In actual fact, the three main cast members are pretty intellegent. Only one of them, Clover, talks in the typical valley girl way. The show is harmless fun with a female cast who aren't stereotypes.
