Tonight's episode: ??
Well, "The Aku Infection" was the episode that was supposed to air tonight. But that's not what aired.
I don't know what episode this is. I'll just call it..
SAMURAI BLACK.
Enjoy.

Most painful episode of Samurai Jack ever.
Worst incidental character of Samurai Jack ever.
Lamest, most cliched story of Samurai Jack ever.
Everest ever in the ever ever of Samurai Jack ever.

I'm just getting sick of "(insert here) doesn't respect Samurai Jack, then does at the end" stories.

Samurai Jack Episode Review of "The Aku Infection" (aka Episode XLII)... played you for a sucker fool, because all I see here is a wanna be pimp Samurai, and I aint playing, G.
THIS IS AKU INFECTION??! I don't think so. There was NOTHING here about Jack being sneezed on by aku (The changeling demon only appeared on the T.V once and that's it) nothing here about Jack being evil AT ALL. Instead, we get a Samurai who thinks is all that but turns out to be a fat (and no ph in that mix) and loserly man who acts tough and carries a sword and that's it. Jack speaks so ancient wise man lingo, smacks him around with a stick, fights a bunch of robots, kills a combined robot, and then leaves. It wasn't a bad episode by any means, and that Samurai was a funny character to have interact with Jack, but this episode seems hampered by the fact it is not what we thought it would be. And the fact that it all seemed done before ("Aku Infection" however had a lot of potential given the premise, which we have YET TO SEE). I give it a B, no lie.

Well, on the upside, we get another 2 "ever's" in this is the longest Jack has EVER worn his hat EVER :D

So since this obviously isn't the Aku Infection, what should we call this episode then? Playah Samurai? Jack and the Poser? Mystic Speak and Slang Terminology? WORST EPISODE EVER (That one's for Matt Wilson)? All I know is I hope that the REAL Aku Infection is better, when ever that gets played.

There was one thing about this ep I definitely enjoyed; Duh Samurai, being all flash and no substance, demonstrated himself to be the mirror opposite of Jack.
It probably helped that I didn't know 'Aku Infection' was schedualed for tonite, so had no expectations to disappoint.

Awrightawrightawright! This wasn't the scheduled "Aku Infection" episode we were hoping to see, so you can all stop yelling "WE WUZ ROBBED!" now. (Perhaps that particular ep will be shown at a later date)
I believe this episode was supposed to be the "Episode XL: Samurai vs. Samurai" we were supposed to get, as was described in the plot summaries I've seen on the Yahoo TV site. (Wonder what number episode "Jack vs. the Shinobi" was originally going to be?)
And it's about time we saw an episode with a wanna-be samurai warrior challenging Jack. Watched the first part of Act I, and I was pretty satisfied that "Da Sam'rai" turned out to be a brash, annoying, jivey-talking dude. (It could have been worse: we could have had a geeky, bespectacled wanna-be wimp warrior in an oversized kimono who talks like Mandark from "Dexy's Lab" or Carl from JB!)

I rather liked the bamboo pole fight, or rather, Da Samurai getting whacked over the head a few times.

Meh. I think the bamboo fight scene, and the robot fight following it were pretty good. That's about it, though.
I thought Da Samurai was going to be pretty cool at first. His entrance with his lit up costume was pretty good. Then he opened his mouth, and that was that.
To summarize:
The Scotsman = Good
The Creature = Good (at least I think so)
The Thief = Good
Da Samurai = Bad

it was kinda annoying on how they went with a sterotype. still, it was pretty sasitfying to see jack hulmilate him with the bamboo stick. and afterwards when the robots showed from behind the bamboo, man thats a impressive peace of art. i'll give this episode a 3.
I'm surprised nobody noticed this (maybe cause of the voice)
Who does Da Samurai look like? What with his gold chains, moehawk, his constant uses of the words "sucker" and "fool"...
MISTER T!!!
Of course, Da Samurai isn't as helluva tough, doesn't throw as helluva far, or have a really fast van, but still.
It woulda been cool to have Mr. T do Da Samurai's voice when he was tough, then when his armor came off switch to wimpy voice. What can I say, I'm a big Mr. T fan.
Oh, and Jack using the bamboo was just coolness.

Well, considering that Action Hank of Dexter's Laboratory fame is a MUCH more obvious homage to The Pitier of Fools, I'd say it's pretty obvious that Genndy is a Mr. T fan. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an intentional reference-- although a far less complimentary one than Action Hank was. (-:
Actually, wasn't there a movie a while back-- I think it was called Ghost Dog or something like that-- about a black samurai in the 'hood? I kinda thought this episode might be more of a reference to that.
Anyway, I liked this episode all right, up to a point. It was pretty obvious from the point Da Sam'rai entered that little pub thingy that Jack was going to have to take him apart, and sho 'nuff... but it was fun watching it happen.
However, my big problem with the episode was...
YOU CAN'T KILL STEEL ROBOTS WITH A BAMBOO POLE. I don't care how strong you are, how skilled you are, if you're a badass samurai from the past or a playahatin' poser from the future, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. You CERTAINLY can't smash them into little bits or impale them through the chest. That was, quite simply, beyond lame.
Overall Grade: D- (Would've been about a C+ / B- if it weren't for that friggin' bamboo pole thing.)

Actually yeah there was, and it was made by Jim Jarmusch. BTW, I only know this because he appeared in an episode of Space Ghost Coast To Coast.

Action Hank acts kinda like Mr. T, but Da Samurai has the look down. He's got the mohawk & everything!

Everything Was goin fine, until "Da Samurai" Became all Flabby-like. My nephew was all freaked out about those robot bounty hunters. When you think about it;you wouldn't want to meet one of those in a dark alley, would you.

I didn't think I was going to enjoy this episode at first, but it wasn't really all that bad. That jerk had so annoying, in order for his pummeling to be so satisfying! Man, I loved that part! :p Yeah, I was wondering how Jack managed to slice through those robots with a bamboo rod. Those were Aku's best minions? I actually did laugh when the punk ran after Jack calling him "Sensai". Oh, and his potbelly... :D
Yea, the sensei part was cool.
Watch, next episode he'll just disappear for no reason and Jack will never hear from him again, even though it looked like Da Samurai was gonna follow him forever.
Well, Aku was gloating about the original robots being super-strong and Jack killed them in 3 seconds, so why not a bamboo pole?

Actualy, this entire episode was a parody /tribute to an 80's movie called THE LAST DRAGON. Jack was Leroy and Da Samurai was Show Nuff.
That being said, I liked this episode.

Whne he first came in with all those lights on his jacket, I thought maybe he was a relative of Brilliant Dynamites Neon.
YOU CAN'T KILL STEEL ROBOTS WITH A BAMBOO POLE.
Yeah, I noticed that too. It would have been one thing if Jack was just denting them into submission, but he was slicing them in frelling half with a non-sharp object.

How do we know that it isn't some super-bamboo that Jack had to cut just right in order to chop it off?
Eh, at least I'm trying.

i liked this ep becuase it's always great to watch loudmouthed posers get punk'd
this was a comedy ep that worked for me but swing this chariot back into serious hard-nosed action

The merged robot was very nicely done, truly creepy. As a designer (as a hobby, not a profession, but I'd love to do it as a job) of monsters I know how hard it is to make a robot gross and disturbing.

So it was worse than the episode with that pink cat thing? Is that possible?
Here is a descripiton of ep XLII Samurai vs Samurai from www.epguides.com
While travelling through the rain, Jack takes refuge in an inn and meets Da Samurai, a hip-hop singer/fighter. His "performance" is interrupted by a new version of Aku's bounty hunters. Jack defeats them handily, much to Da Samurai's amazement. Da Samurai challenges him to battle and Jack eventually agrees. Jack requires him to first fight with sticks and Jack is clearly the superior warrior. Their fight is interrupted by the arrival of many more of Aku's hunters. Da Samurai is captured and Jack defeats the 100+ robots...but they assemble into one gigantic multi-headed robot. Da Samurai saves Jack by taking an energy blast, giving Jack time to defeat the robot and acknowledge Da Samurai has taken the first step on the path of a true warrior.
