Having commentary will be great. I can't say I didn't expect to have it on the disc(s) though. :)

Definetely can't wait for these DVDs.

Audio commentary...well, as long as its not Mommentary, it should be great.

And also good to know they'll be starting with the early episodes (as opposed to some crappy "Best Of" deal).

I think Neon Invader X's picture says it all.

Only the first season? Pathetic! That's just 110 minutes..

Most DVD sets have.. 500 minutes.

You could fit at least 1994-1996 on a DVD set. Christ.

Eh, maybe I shouldn't have said "set". I forgot how short the episodes are. It may only be a single DVD.

I'll try to get more confirmation tomorrow.

Simmer down, Matt. Simmer down. I agree that more would be better, but I'll take this over nothing at all or a best-of set any day.

Actually, Matt does have a point. I'll wait for more confirmation on exactly how they will be releasing them before I say anything, though.

On an off topic note, this is post 1,500 for me. :D

SG:C2C DVDs with audio commentaries? At first, this elated me. But then I read "first season". Blah, forget it. If it was the sixth or seventh season, I'd peddle my flesh to get my hands on it. I respect the earlier episodes for their innovativeness, but they really don't have very much re-watch value, since the show gets zanier as it gets older.

Of course, Mr. Lowe may not have a clue as to how they're handling the release. All he may know is that he was called in to do audio commentaries on the first-year episodes for the DVDs. The release might contain more episodes, but only commentary for year one.

Or something. We'll see.

Well, if' were gona go over the time stuff, I compiled a list of it all from here (http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/adultswim/sgc2cepguides.html), so, maybe this'll help with some stuff (of course, these times are probably rounded, but still, at least it's something right?)...

1994 - 150 minutes (10 episodes)+ 10 (Mask bonus)*+ 15 (Chirstmas special material)

1995 - 115 minutes (8 episodes)+ 30 (President' day nightmare)

1996 - 280 minutes (15 episdoes)+ ? (Planetarium Tour (http://www.snard.com/sg/t_planet.html)**)

1997 - 495 minutes (24 episodes {includes both Brilliants})

1998 - 185 minutes (12 episodes)+ 15 (short warren)

1999/2000 - 135 minutes (8 episodes)+ 15 (short Fire Ant) + 15 (alternate Snatch)***

2001/02 - 120 minutes (8 episodes)***

2003 (so far) - 15 minutes (one episode)

*I'm putting it with the 1994 stuff since that's when it was released, but it could also go with 1995 to just go with Le Livre D'histoire, maybe as an easter egg.

**I'm not entirely sure what this is, I saw this on Snard.com's SG stuff, and it seems to be an actual video thing, so, I tacked it on there.

***I jsut combined the years here since 2000 just had two alternate version eps, and 2002 just had the 2nd and 3rd Momentarys.

Why was this moved out of the Adult Swim forum? Not swimmy enough?

The Landstander

Nice listing, Lim (your avatar still rules), but to be more precise, each actual Space Ghost episode is around 11/12 minutes, not 15. That doesn't change the total a lot, but it does a little. Just a note.

Weren't they just edited to 11 minutes for Adult Swim?

I see this thread was moved back here to the AS board.

I believe most of the older episodes were around 12 to 13 minutes or so, which is only a minute too long for it's airing on AS at this present point. So if all the episodes are edited like Warren, each should only loose about a minute or less compared to their original airing. I wonder if anyone would post a "Space Ghost Coast To Coast Editing Report" thread to list all the edits?

Good news on the DVD(s?) though. I just hope they include some other features besides commentary though.

I would do it, but I've only seen the edited versions, so....yeah.

However, snards.com and adultswim.com both have transcripts of many of the episodes (Snards has more, though), so maybe somebody could work with that. :-\

They could have just copied it. Heaven forbid the same thread appears on more than one board.

I have been praying for this for a long time, and it came true. I cant wait to buy this, and with the commentary it will be an awesome buy.

just a quick question about space ghost coast to coast:
which season had the special where everyone voted for the new cartoon network series out of power puff girls and johnny bravo? I hope this is put on its proper season dvd (if the other seasons come out) even though i think it was a special.

sorry for the confusion about that special, i dont know the title for that special so it might seem a little foggy.

thanks.

That was "President's Day Nightmare," which you can find in the above listing.

Interesting fact of the day: According to Roman records written upon the arrival of Jesus, the Son of God actually had blonde hair with a hint of red. Apparently the historical inaccuracy of Him having brown hair will still remain in the year 3000.

Oh, and it's wonderful to see the show that I entirely based my sense of humor off of is getting the respect it deserves. I hope one of these days it'll make a bit of a comeback in regards to the popularity it once had with college students.

Got a chance to speak to George today. I asked him directly about how many discs it would be, and he wasn't sure. It appears that they don't tell him much (exact quote: "You guys know everything I do"). However, he was able to confirm the fact that the first release will be of the first season, and that he'll be going in next month to record the audio commentary, probably with Clay and Andy.

If it comes out with only the first season, that's going to be a tough choice on the purchase.

On the one hand, the show didn't really get good into a few seasons in. Much like the Simpsons, the first season of the show is rough around the edges, but still hinting at the greatness to come.

On the other hand, if I buy, I'd be able to get the whole thing from the start (with new audio commentary!) Plus, if enough people buy the sets, they might be convinced to release more seasons and possibly seasons of other shows.

It will probably boil down to the pricing. Hopefully, it will be around $25-$35 dollars.

Ah, what the hell, I'll probably buy it anyway.

I wouldn't mind a Season One-only release at all. As long as it's priced reasonably, it'd be a fair deal. I'm just happy to get the show on DVD, in chronological order, and with commentaries.

you can fit all of season one on one DVD, with plenty of room for extras. unless there's really a lot of extras.

Yes, I agree, the commentary is worth 50 dollars itself. The more I hear the more excited I get about the new space ghost release. Ive been saying they should put the show on dvd by seasons, and my wish has come true.

How much do you figure the dvd will be--- $20?
thats what im thinking if its only season 1 on one disc...the futurama set is only 30 for like 12 half hour ep.s, so....

Actually, I heard from Evan Dorkin's (One of the Space Ghost Writer's) Live Journal that there are going to be two other old episodes on the Season One DVD, one of which is "Girly Show" which he is doing a commentary for along with George Lowe and the others. I guess it's to expand the DVD and make it more worthy to buy or something like that.

Ludicris
06-02-2003, 09:50 PM
Yeah, probably. Im pretty sure if the approximate time of the dvd is raised the price will be able to be understandably increased due to the addition of more episodes.
