View Full Version : Kagome-Why does she wear the school uniform in the other world?

It makes no sense. She knows when she is going to spend time in Inuyasha's world, so wouldn't it stand to reason that she would wear "normal" clothes instead of her school uniform. I'm sure running around in her very short skirt is convenient. Aside from the obvious fanservice with showing her legs, it just doesn't really fit into the story.

men like girls in school uniforms, inu yasha is a comic for guys in shonen sunday, if there's a cute girl in the comic in a school uniform i don't think anyone will mind.

but a probably more logical reason is its easy to draw. And since rumiko takahashi has to draw a comic every week she, like most manga artist, try to do simple clothing designs to lessen work load. This makes it easy on her assistents and herself, because i'm guessing everyone in japan has seen the school girl uniform and they can all draw it.

so the reason she always wears it in the cartoon is the same, since inu yasha cartoons are coming out rapidly, they pick maybe two outfits she wears throughout the cartoon to make it eaiser on the animators instead of having to update her character design with each new outfit. And again most of the animators probably have seen a school girl uniform so it makes it easy for them. And they use the school girl uniform just because guys like girls in school uniforms.

Consistency and because from now on, when we see a white-green Fuko we'll think of Kagome.

You mean SAILOR SUITS.

No, they mean school uniforms. Seeing as though it's Japan, the sailor theme is a given.

I think one of the reasons you always see Kagome wearing the school uniform is probably she dosen't feel like wearing the "ancient times" (to her) clothing when she knows she can go back through the well. I mean, the only time she wore the traditonal clothing in the series (so far) was in "Through The Rabbit Hole And Up Again" and that was when it was still unknown if the well could get her home at the time. Probably a matter of personal opinion. Also, the school girl uniform is less wind resitant then the traditonal outfit (which is good in battle) and as the advantage of actual shoes (the only other person with shoes ((and I don't mean sandals)) is Sango in her battle armor) which is better then walking barefoot or in sandals. This is all from a show standpoint, not one from actual reality (as in, not saying she wears a school unifrom because it's easier to draw).

Yea most of the logic in that show makes me go insane, like when shes riding her bicycle around and no one seems to care, ugh just don't... agh!!! *holds self together from snapping* just don't question its stupid logic and enjoy it.

Kagome-Why does she wear the school uniform in the other world?

It characterizes her as a Japanese post-war schoolgirl.

I've thought about this too. I've come to the conclusion that it's just best not to think about it.

Kind of like how Inuyasha is always getting impaled on something -- it's like he constantly has a hole though his chest. But somehow his cloths get patched up and you can't even tell there was ever a problem.

Maybe she just likes the school uniform. Other than that the only reason I can think of it is because it's her character. Cartoon character's seldom change clothes, because it's one of the aspects about them you recognize.

I've thought about this too. I've come to the conclusion that it's just best not to think about it.

That's usually the best way to go.

Well, I'm sure she gets some looks from people in other villages, she got a few in the manga, but Kaede's village has just gotten used to it.

You need punctuation kid. Use periods, proper spelling, and capitalization for posting. Trust me, you'll be well-recieved.

Sort of off-topic comment on that, did enyone else notice that when Yura stabbed him through the chest was the only time he used that spiffy blood attack? (I don't remember the name, Blades of something or the other, but whatever it was that cut off her hand.) I mean, you'd think he'd use it more often since, like Lucius said, he's always got some sort of hole in his chest.

And why is Kagome wearing a school uniform? 'Cause it's anime. That's why.

That's his pattended Blades Of Blood attack. I think he's used it a few more times in the series, but then again, when fighting enemies (except for fairly weak demons or the first stirke) since Inuyasha first got the Tetsusaiga, you don't seem him using his others attacks (Like that roll he used on Centipede Lady or Iron Reaver Soul Stealer).

I wouldn't be accusing people of being idiots if I were you...

OK, I'm sorry. That was mean.

From what I recall he's used his blades of blood quite a few times. The thing is how often would you want to use that kind of attack if you were him? He's got Tetsusaiga which is stronger than anything he can do on his own, and he has to be bleeding. Plus they usually end up being about as effective as Shippo's fox fire.

While in some of the cases at least, her choice of her school uniform is more of a result of not having time to change. There are a couple of times in which it looks like she is heading back to the fuedal time right from school and I guess it is possible that some times she might head straight to school upon returning.

Of course this doesn't explain all the cases, or why on those trips in which she spends multiple days in the past, she doesn't bring a separate outfit for those days. Though, given the size of her bag at times, I guess fitting another outfit into it isn't really possible.

Actually, the gave an answer to the schoolgirl outfit in the first Inuyasha movie...
At one point Kagome is injured and IIRC Kaede after treating her wounds gaveher an outfit very similar to Kikyo's. Anyway, to cut to the chase, after being trapped in her own time Kagome finds a way to get back. As she goes running off her mom calls her back and gives her the school outfit and tells her she has to be herself.
And for those that haven't seen the movie or that aren't spoiler junkies, basically the school outfit is a representation of who and what Kagome is, and she's not going to change her clothes or herself jus because she goes back in time.

.

If they want to draw the clothes easier, they shoud take the Peter Chung route and draw them all in thongs.

Now that is very interesting, however, it leaves me to wonder if Rumiko Takahashi personally review most, (if not all) 'Inuyasha' episodes herself, because it would appear that she missed one or two eps, or the animators must have bent the rules a little by teasing us with a glimpse of Kagome's underwear  :o in Inuyasha episode # 23: 'Kagome's Voice and Kikyo's Kiss.' I won't tell which scene it was, you will just have to wait for this episode to be repeated. ;)

Hey, what are you doing resurrecting dead threads like this for no reason and teasing some of the viewers with thoughts of Kagome's underwear (Inuyasha's underwear on the other hand... what, you think that's offensive? Ironic old perverts) for no real reason?

I noticed that! seeing how it was anime and the skirt was oh-so short, , hell, even Sailor Moon had panty shots when it made sence visually (IE the skirt could in no wat cover them up) but yet Kagome's skirt is all over the palce in some action scenes and not a glimpse. I guess she's just trying to distance the show formthe fanservice-y Ranma

SSJPabs

She wasn't very involved in TV show Ranma if what I've heard is correct.

Personally, I'd much rather see Kagome in something approximating jeans and one of those popular baby-tees. Maybe some sort of hiking boots too. Hell, even jean-shorts would be better than a skirt. Although I guess you don't see too much of that in anime.

I'm sorry to all you fanservice lovers, but I like real girls to wear normal clothes rather than blantantly sexy stuff too. It's just the way I am.

Wouldn't mind her with carpenter-overalls myself. Those are tough enough to give some frontal protection in the wilderness.

Drawn correctly, a girl could look pretty good in those. She'd just have to fill out a bit more to make them fit properly. How old is she supposed to be 15?

Well that's what the offical site and the creator say, so it must be true (about her being 15).
