I thought this was coming back on Oct 4th? It was on tonight, I must say that this was a pretty good episode. I'd really like to know more about Spike's past, does anybody know what episode will go into detail about it?
The episode after was going to be "Sympathy for the devil", but they showed "Heavy Metal Queen" instead. Does anybody know why?

Ah, one of my favorites eps. . . one of the main plot arcs is Spike's past with the mob, so you'll have to wait and see.
Sympathy for the Devil was probably cut because. . . well, it could be any number of things. There's a falling scene, a err, questionable villain. Don't want to give anything away, but the ending is of the sort that really can't be simply edited out.
Did they show the preview for Heavy Metal Queen? That was one of my favorites, with the cast shouting over and complaining about the loud background music.

The preview? Nope, they showed the preview of "Sympathy of the Devil". Then showed "Heavy Metal Queen" in it's place.
This is Adult Swim, they should be able to show the episode, after all, CB is on after Midnight.

"Sympathy for The Devil" was most likely cut (like everything else) because of recent events. Because they did show the preview for it and "Waltz for Venus". They'll most likely be shown, be it at a later date in the current run or during the second run.
If you want to know why they were probably cut (proceed at your own risk, spoilers ahead) --
"Sympathy for The Devil"
- A man is shot and falls out the window of a high building. The same scene is played out again in slow motion as his friend remembers it.
- A child, the villain, is shot in the head and the scene is central to the plot. I don't think the child being shot was the reason the episode was cut. As I remember there was little blood, and the bullet hole in his head could be digitally removed (like they did for the bullet hole in the bartenders head in "Asteroid Blues") without effecting the scene.
"Waltz for Venus"
- At the beginning of the episode a civilian transport is hijacked. Spike of course is on the transport and is able to defeat the hijackers, and collects the bounty.

Did you dig that "Spike falling out of the church" sequence? I think the flashback segment playing against the church choir music was what made many Japanese fans vote this their fave episode.

--Cowboy Bebop can make me both laugh and hypnotize me. I was shocked when Spike and his former friend shot each other, spellbound by the sequence where Spike fell out a church window, and laughed when he (unwisely) told Faye (who looked like she was starting to fall for him as he lay bandaged and helpless) she sang off-key--and she popped him one. And in "Queen", some of the most hilarious bits were Faye mistaking some big tough goon for her quarry when it was actually this weaselly Woody Allen type...Jet trying to feed the dog bean sprouts...and Spike's hangover. "You made me lose my egg." Though it took me ten minutes to realize F.V. was a woman....

Yes, I found that music very fitting for what was going on. It would have to be my favriote episode so far, I still need to see all the others first. Looks like I might have to get the DVDs to see that "Sympathy For the Devil" episode.
