I love you orange Mountain Dew and miss you already! This stuff is awesome and they are only planning it for a summer release? When that Dr. Pepper red fusion is part of their normal line? I have yet to see someone like that crap! And don't they still have blue Pespsi? Another drink no one cares for. Yet when they do something right, it's for a limited time only? Bah!

Just like the McRib and an employed America.

I guess the strategy behind this is that, since it's a "limited time offer," those who like it will go out and buy more than they normally would. Also, it gives them a good marketing angle.
Still, it doesn't seem to make a whole lotta sense to me. If the product is successful, why take it off the market? There are already tons of sodas out there, why not put one more on the market?
Maybe this is just some test, where they'll keep it around if it does well this summer, and if it bombs, they'll just say "well, it was only a limited time offer."

That sounds about right. They're just doing it to sell more. I doubt there is any truth to the limited time thing.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'd really like to. I bet that if it IS a good seller, they will bring it back to be a mainstream product. I think "Mountain Dew: Code Red" and "Tropical 7-Up" originally started as summer-only products, and now they're everywhere.
I also remember years ago when McDonald's came out with a fourth milkshake flavour: Arctic Orange. I was seven at the time, and loved it - but it was just a summer thing. Years later, it's become mainstream once again. And I like that. :)
It'll all depend on how well it sells. What company wouldn't want a good seller to stay out on the shelves?

That's alright I'm tired of it already. **spits it out** It's so hard to wash down a 2 liter of this stuff.

Based on this thread I bought some of the stuff and it's okay. Nothing I haven't had before. An average tasting Orange pop at best.
I miss McDonald's Mighty Wings. I love those things. I hate it when ever McDonalds takes them off the American Market. Thankfully summer's coming up and that seems to be the usual time that they make there appearence.

Yeah, I hate it when McDonald's removes items from the menu that you really like. I remember years ago when they had a "McDLT" burger that you put together yourself. I loved that thing; over the years it seems to have been replaced with the Big Xtra in Canada and the Big N Tasty in the US.
I also miss McDonald's Pizza...for only a five minute wait, that stuff was pretty good. It was around for years, but then suddenly, McD's just pulled the plug. :(

You guys got pizza ? Then again you are older than me, so it may of been before my time. Maybe it was a Canadian thing.

- I know what you mean about missing menu items. A while back, McDonald's had a triple-thick strawberry banana milkshake. It only took two of them (on separate occasions) to get me hooked. A couple weeks ago, I go in to get one and they don't serve them anymore!
- I remember seeing McDonald's ads years ago that mentioned pizza (I live, on the US side, near Toronto; we get each other's local networks) and I thought to myself, "Wow!"
- About the orange Mountain Dew: I tried some yesterday. It's OK; definately something that's good in small portions, but not over a long time, though if I had to choose between this and Vanilla Coke, it's this every time.

Well, I guess that's the nature of McDonalds...things come and go and they please. I remember the McDonald's Pizza from a long time ago (around 1994). They would serve it around 4PM every Friday I believe (or was it weekdays, I forgot). I'm sad I never tried it though. Anyone remember the Arch Deluxe? That was fun for a little while, and I heard its still served in some places in the country...just not around here. I also remember McDonalds selling hot dogs at one point. Heh, McDonalds has sold everything over the years haven't they...
Oh and about the Orange Mountain Dew....it's decent at best.

It depends on the type of McDonalds, If It's a Franchise, the older the Franchise, the more power the owner has over the menu.
Newer franchises and "Company stores" strictly follow the Company-Wide basic menu (whatever that is at the time)
(I never worked there, but I've read some of their business contracts.)
As for Colas... I've got my Stewart's Root Beer, and Cherry Pepsi, and Harrisburg Dairy's Lemon-Tea, so I'm good for flavored Drinks.
(Ooooo and Cherry Pepsi Slushies... can't forget those.)

Haven't tried any orange Mountain Dew yet. But no matter how it tastes, I doubt it will take the place of Sunkist. I've loved that stuff ever since I was a little girl. :D
The Tropical Sprite Remix is okay...didn't really amaze me all that much with the taste or anything, but it's not that bad. I heard there's some kind of mint-flavored Sprite being released in Canada, is that true? If so, has anyone tried that yet?

There's also Bacon and Ketchup flavored Lays potato chips in Canada. The bacon was sooooo good but, the Ketchup potato chips tasted as gross as it sounds.
I thought it would be for a Limited Time because of a sweepstakes idea. Some Live Wire bottles are "Alive" with a tracker in it and if you pass a Pepsi truck you'd get some kind of award. Of course that's what I heard a year ago.

I must be the only person in this forum who likes both Red Fusion AND Vanilla Coke.
I'm not big on orange pop, but LiveWire does sound interesting. I'll check it out.
But man, Pepsi Blue is kinda crappy. It tastes like Haribo gummie bear soda!

Goku I will agree that the new Mountain Dew Livewire is superior to upside down 7-Up and the new Sprite. What were they thinking?
